I was at this show , saw AOD many times and still suffer from ptsd . Lol . They were one of my faves . I " lived " at CBGBs back in the 80s. They had a hardcore matinee every Sunday at 1 pm. They would bill it as " 5 lousy bands for 5 lousy bucks " . Lol. Those shows were packed and we would go fuckin' wild . I saw so many great ( and not so great ) bands there. Butthole Surfers , Bad Brains , Antidote , Flipper , Minor Threat and Suicidal Tendencies just to name a few . Those were some great times and NY was a great place to be . A lot of the " bigger " bands like the Dead Kennedys and Black Flag I got to see at the World Theater and the Ritz which were much larger venues but were soulless . Make no mistake , CBGBs was the best place to see a show ! Shame that the place is gone . It was iconic and should have been saved. So much music history there. Thank you for sharing this video. It is indeed classic !

@@theAxehound I left NY back in 1998 and the last I heard , it was an overpriced clothing boutique !! Not surprised. The Ravenite Social Club which is a few blocks away and was John Gotti's headquarters and a mob hang out since the 30s , is a shoe store now . Most of the cool iconic places from the 80s and beyond are long gone . Replaced with overpriced yuppie and millenial schlock . Just look at Times Square. I mean , a Disney store ?? Really ?? I liked Times Square when it was sleazy with the peep shows and X rated theaters. There was real NY grit there if not a sense of danger . Now the toughest guy on the block is Mickey Mouse ! Like they say ------ nothing lasts forever.

@@thetimahawk1, thanks for sharing the stories brother!!
I had a similar experience here in New Orleans, but we didn't get much punk (maybe twice a week). It was all thrash, sludge and doom. As a youthcrew/skin/punk I was always jealous of the LA and NY scenes, I visited both and never could understand why everyone wanted to play soooo slow down here (too much beer and weed I guess).
I'd go to see DRI or Poision Idea...etc and all five opening bands would play tuned as low as you could go and play as slow as you could go. Just made me play faster and faster!

@@thetimahawk1 NYHC for life brother. Back when NY was NY. I left in '92, been back a few times but...first time I went back was walking down the bowery and my buddy said "do you know where you are?" and there was the fucking John Varvatos store. I seriously got a lump in my throat and had to walk away. I played on that stage many, many times, got even more black eyes - and those thigh bruises from that stage!!! We had it good didn't we?

@@KMc-cw3qt We had it great !!! Like I said , those Sunday Matinees at CBs were the best !! These kids today have no clue . There will never be a scene like that again . Ever ! We were part of something. I could never quite put my finger on it but I felt like I belonged. I was "safe" there. LOL. Peace.

You would have gotten smacked for saying that back then. Big Charlie was the best stage security anywhere, as sweet as he was huge, and a fixture on the NYHC scene. You weren't there you wouldn't understand.

Bouncer at an A O.D. show. How buttock is that? Great band, nonetheless.

It was CBGBs you numbskull. There was security at every show. Guess you weren't ever there.
