As much as I understand how difficult Maya's childhood and upbringing must've been for her, it was still hard to feel sorry for her because of how arrogant and rude she was to everyone. She should've told Rick about this from the minute their relationship started getting serious instead of waiting for him to propose. While I love how the writers wanted to create a storyline which explores and raises awareness about transgender and LGBTQ issues, it could have been done with a different character which would ultimately trigger more empathy and support from the audience. That being said, it was so satisfying to watch Rick and Maya lose their power over Forrester Creations.
