MY PROFILE:
I started fishing when I was just a young kid and instantly fell in love with Bass Fishing. Started fishing tournaments when I was in high school and have been fishing them ever since. For years I fished every tournament I could enter sometimes fishing as many as 45 tournaments a year. I qualified for the Elites when I was 30 but didn't have the sponsors or money to compete so I turned it down. Got sponsor support later and fished the FLW Tour for 2 years and having been fishing the Toyotas since 2006. I’ve won 5 Angler of the Year Titles becoming the only fishermen to have more than 3 AOYs in the Toyota series. Won numerous events along the way that has helped shape my way into working for Strike King as head of product innovation. Along the way, I picked up a camera and started filming my endeavors. I have now fallen in love with making videos about fishing and delivering it to you. Follow along the journey...it should be an honest and fun ride! - Zábava
I remember when Lake Fork was brand new , tons of smaller fish, acres and acres of schooling bass ,but the really big ones took 5-10 years before they were getting caught in huge numbers, the good ol days😁
Thanks Todd for this good information. I remember being in my twenties when Fork opened and it was pretty cool navigating through all that live timber. I remember being in a flooded forest and the trees still had leaves and it was so thick there was a canopy of leaves and you could barely even see the sky when you looked up.
Texas scores again .. building new large freshwater fishery outstanding and one darn good way to maga... God bless Texas. Hope more states will follow this example. Thanks for the tour, Castaline. Preciate it man.
I call it the lake fork effect. People think it’s the land of giants, and to some extent it is. The thing that people fail to realize is that for every giant they see, 100 boats blanked that day.
Went out last week and caught 20 or so between the two of us, going back out tomorrow. GO STARS
This was spot on. I went for 5 days and encountered the exact same things. Averaged 30 each days. One over 6 and a few over 5. Alot of 2-3 lbrs mixed in. Was definitely an experience
There will be fish in that lake that wont see a bait for the next 10 years. Ill probably go back in 2 years to let the population increase.
You’re part of those 14 million CZcamsrs to make a video on it now😂
Todd, I've been, great video. In fact when we came in on my trip there, you were idling waiting for your buddy to back up the trailer. All I have to say is you got way more Sack then I do when you ran a few of those areas.
We went two weeks ago Wednesday on the lower lake and crushed em pretty good. Probably 40 and we had one go about 10, a 7, and four more over 5. Pics 😂. As soon as we caught those two bigs we got absolutely swarmed.
There is a difference of catching them and catching them lol, love it. Maybe one of these days i can get out to that lake. I rember my dad telling me stories about when ivey first opened up it was like that, said pecans was falling on their heads.
Man this sounds like the typical day at 6 mile boat ramp during the spring.... Like my buddy says they'll sale any idiot a boat!! LOL looks like a pretty cool place... I'd definitely love to check it out one day after it settles down some I've never been able to fish a new lake before.
Some people just don't care. They think they can do what they want.i live in p.a. we have had to tell people get off the ramp all are ramps are 2 boats not big lakes. We say get ready then unload.another good video.
Looking forward to trying the lake out. Thank you for the reality of new lake expectations.
Wasn’t Falcon the greatest ever when you had to run over the thorn bushes to get to senderos, right of ways and stock tanks. I doubt I’ll live long enough to see fishing that good again
The Good Ol’ Days…
When you made the set the hook video I KNEW you were on Bios d arc! I had just been there. But I thought I heard someone say something about being on a lake in Oklahoma…. I knew it!
I believe when they flooded Richland and Chambers, they didn't allow any fishing for the first 5 years maybe they should have done the same for this one.
I was there yesterday. At any time during the day there is 150 boats on the lake rain or shine. I wouldn't even try the weekend. This lake was reported on one of the local news stations a few weeks back. Yes once it was completely filled they did open it. Its taken a few years to fill and now we've had torrential rains so its very full. The shorelines are full of thorny brambles. Be prepared to lose some baits. But they are there.
Ok so here’s my opinion on boat ramp ethics! When you go buy a boat I think it should be mandatory to take a class on how to launch/load your boat and what NOT to do like how you explained the persons stopping in front of ramp to get boat ready to launch!!! It’s absolutely mind blowing to see how people act or the fact that they don’t give a crap about anyone else, taking more than one parking lane….I just don’t understand it lol 🤷🏻♂️
I’ve actually backed in random people’s boats numerous times because I got tired of waiting in line and watching them repeatedly fail.
And teenagers on opening day/weekend of duck season are the worst at it.
Careful…you’ll end up like California where you have to have a state boater card. It won’t change anything either you’ll still get the arrogant and the ignorant out there.
@@DavidWildfishing well you have a valid point sir!!!!
@@DavidWildfishing gotta have them in Louisiana if born after a particular year, you’re 100% correct, it helps nothing.
I fished it a few weeks ago, and the spot we went to had T post sticking up..But no it wasnt in the boat lane or anyplace youd hit them
Nice breakdown Spinning Rod Todd. Too bad its 12 hours away from me
I know it's a bit far for me but I had to go try it out
sounds like another road trip in the plans for me. its only a 12 and half hour drive for me.
You takin Ish there?
As an Arkansas guy this pains me a bit, but when it comes to bass fishing, Texas kinda rules. Except for the Aholes in the parking lot maybe.
I did not they were building lakes anywhere in the country. Is Texas the only state building new lakes at this time? That's great.
A few of Miliken’s vids made Ivie blow up to the general public.
True but it's wide open this place up north in the river you cant get to 80% of it. Plus there aren't 13#s swimming around, it'll be awhile for that to happen.
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 yeah man, Texas is doing it better than everyone else by an infinite amount.
Probably saw a few Lake Fork 'pro' guides at Bdark....😂
Oh yea
People are not smart, a lot of fishermen are not as smart as those people. The only issue I have seen is some barb wired fencing in the last half of some creeks. There are not stumps in flooded timber
TEXAS ROCKS" GO TCF!
I've been wondering about this lake, wondering if it's worth the drive from Beaumont
In your scoping around at "BoDark", did you see mass schools of Crappie?
No but I saw a ton of individuals everywhere. I caught one flipping a 3/4 ounce weight in a bush. I might not have looked deep enough for the larger schools
@toddcastledinefishing5924 thanks for the reply. I'll say this much, that place looks like it will be heaven for waterfowl.
@@BenC-77 until the trees fall apart and decay it should definitely hold birds.
@@dustinwalker8152 it should be pretty good this season, especially for early teal
Sounds like a typical spring day at the ramp here. Sad but true.
One an hour is smashing them to me lol
I heard the Cicada bite on fire?
Definitely
Glad you get new lakes in Texas. In my neck of the woods, the TVA ain't building any new dams. 😀
Probably gonna get a lot more over the years. With the mass exodus of people to places like Texas and Florida from poorly run states with high taxes and living costs will force the need for water.
First 5 to 6 years will be tit's and ass after that numbers will fall off but big uns will get caught pretty regular. That was my experience with Gibson County lake Here in TN.
TODD THEY ARE CALLED FOOTBALLS 2 POUNDS AND IS 12 INCHES LONG. YEAH FOOTBALLS
Yea I’ve seen so much goofy 💩 at launches since Covid. It Is what it is I guess. They pay taxes too. Haha
Sounds like a local lake they opened about 15 years ago and its never stopped stays packed and the ramps are a absolute cluster
Yeah it's in the weather hahaha all the common warm weather boaters. Jet flea owners who cannot back a trailer hahaha oh yeah poor boat ramp etiquette season has started dude. 😂😂😂
Cooper lake was 10x better when it first opened, compared to bois darc
They cone out of the dfw liberal area....I won't be back
“Liberal areas”? lol Glad I won’t see you there.
All the so called guides already on this lake is unreal!
I’m gonna leave that one alone 😂😂
