A bit long, but so good details towards the end. Thanks for watching!
Dude sweet idea nothing like some good old fashion ingenuity. Nothing like some good rotisserie
Yes sir! Thanks Guy, such a loyal watcher!!
I have the same model grill along with the PIT BOSS PRO vertical smoker, this “HACK” just solved me problem, awesome. Thank you
Did you do this to your pit boss pro vert smoker? I have one also and wanting to do this but dont know how to mount the motor without touching the side so it dont melt. Any suggestions?
Kenneth, got pics???
Im glad I could help, thanks for watching!
I wouldn’t be concerned about the hole in the stack , the smoke is going to go up the stack anyway so a bit of smoke out the hole is no biggie, but your idea is great , a few rare earth magnets under those brackets would hold them in place, just need to adjust the height of the motor. I have been thinking about this idea , you have now shown the way . Thanks and happy rotisserieing 😀😀
This is good lots of DYIers have some great input to perfect this. Finally the wheel has been reinvented 😊. Cheers everyone.
This is a great modification!
Thanks brother!
Nice Mod!!!
Thank you V Wolf!!!
The big box stores sell longer square rod that would fit. Great video, I will be trying it as well
Thanks Randy!
Can we start a go fund me to get him a drill upgrade? He gives us so much we should give back a little :)
Im not going to complain..... Thanks El Mehor Pawn!!
Hell yeah man! I have the 1100 pro and have been looking for a rotisserie for it, guess I just need to drill a few holes and go to it!
Yes sir. The one I bought failed on the first use but I made some mistakes. I need to get another one.
You beat me to this Tony! I've been wanting to do this with my Tailgater and probably will sometime in the future. Can't wait to see a cook with you using it! As for that hole in the stack, I'm pretty sure there is a silicone heat resistant plug out there? That would be a lot easier. OK, I'll be on the lookout for your Pit Boss Rotisserie cooks!
Thanks man. Yeah I thought about looking into one of those plugs, maybe one day. Thanks for all the love brother.
Gotta love mods,
Appreciate the love.
Great idea 💡👍👏 Might have to try that.
I cant wait to cook with it. Thinking about starting with the basics, a chicken. What would you cook on it?
@@1526BBQ prime rib roast would be amazing!
Thats a great idea!
Just bought Oklahoma Joe 1200 g2 and my first mod will be the rotisserie kit.
I will check the height of inside hinge and then make a hole for the motor.
4:15 "that's what he said" 😂
I struggled not adding that during editing.... Thank you!!!
Follow up of it working with food on it?
I’ve been thinking about doing the exact same thing…
Have u used it and noticed a difference in food quality?
Where did you get the rotissorie basket?
I chuckled.... so far all I have is the tip in.
The struggle is real!😄😁👍
The problem with this is that the rotisserie is not centered over the fire; I think that would give much better results. When you look at the rotisseries they use in most grocery stores they are large propane flames with the chickens being rotisseried directly in front of them.
Could I do this on the vertical Pit boss? Drill into the side and attach it?? I'm thinking yes...
I’m not sure, never done it, but I bet it would work…
Just a suggestion why don’t you use a heavy duty magnet to cover just the hole on the outside of the stack
Its a great idea. Thank you!
Keep it simple with plugging ther hole when not using the rotisserie. Use either option A: 000# rubber stopper (think cork in a test tube) for a 3/8"hole.
OR
Option B: refrigerator magnet that may have served as someone's business card or last year's calendar (or a piece of strip magnet)
Thanks Karl. I thought about the flexible magnet, just dont have one. When I get one I will be swapping to the magnet.
Did I miss something? One minute the spit used prongs when he was un boxing and then there was a basket. And there doesn’t seem like there was enough room for a large chicken to rotate.
Silicone Stopper instead of a bolt
Thank you!!!
Why not just remove the stack to use the rotisserie? Just an idea...
Do you think this can be done with an Austin XL?
It has the same stack - so yes I think so. If you didnt see my recent rotisserie chicken video - the motor died. I still havent pin point why it failed. Some suggest that the motor was too close to the stack and over heated.
@@1526BBQ Hmmm, that's interesting. I've just started using my Austin XL for a month and gradually adding accessories. Your input is appreciated. I've had rotisserie options on my mind so, been wondering if it can even be done. Thanks
Why did you choose to mount it as high as possible instead of shooting for the center of the available space?
I put it just above the bottom of the stack. I wanted to be sure that the basket fit. I have plans for the basket.
Just remember, if you watched my rotisserie chicken video, my motor died. Some folks said that I probably mounted it too close to the stack then overheated, but I haven't investigated it yet.
My guess is that’s what caused your motor to stop I think it over heated because you had it to close to the smoke stack
Yeah. That might have been it.
Rotisserie motors are made to be mounted right next to the lid of gas bbqs which get twice as hot as that smoke stack ever would!
That makes sense
thats because thats a wood bit
Yep. You're right. I was wrong.
@@1526BBQ as soon as I saw it I knew well I work in a machine shop so lol anyway thanks for that video I’m going to do this to my pellet grill again thanks
Yes sir.
Good way to void your warranty.
Yep
Thank you for validating my idea, but it was very painful to watch. I mean to watch a "How To" from a person that doesn't know the difference between a wood /metal drill bit or fighting the grill when all you had to do was turn the grill and place it against the bench /wall / railling to drill the hole and finally a 8* bolt to plug a lil ole hole ??? Sorry pal but you have forgotten the K.I.S.S. method... Lowes / home Depot has a large assortment of plugs that can be used... its just a exhaust tube with little to no pressure. One could whittle a wood plug even while he was waiting for his food cooks... This old man will give you a 5 out of 10 for effort.
I'll take it. Thanks Starline
Brother, you need to invest in some real tools.
You're not wrong.... Thanks for watching!!
