  • Located in the narrow Lašva valley that connects the Bosna and Vrbas valleys, Travnik is bordered to the north by the Vlašić mountain range and to the south by the slopes of the Vilenica Mountains. The city looks back on an eventful history.
During the Ottoman occupation, Travnik was the residence of a governor of the Sultan for 150 years. The city developed into the most important trade and craft center and the first diplomatic center in Bosnia.
With the beginning of the Austro-Hungarian occupation of Bosnia in 1878, Travnik developed into an industrial center. Wood processing and the textile industry are still the most important industries today.
