    Summary
    1. Our mind remembers in three ways
    encoding: how it inputs
    storage : how it remains
    retrieval : how it outputs
encoding means moving info from short term to long term by inputting info the correct way
rote memorization is the worst way to encode as it isn't efficient and is very passive.
    best techniques to encode:
chunking : putting similar information into chunks, which makes sense to you
mnemonic devices : a way to connect similar info (ex VIBGYOR, knuckle method to remember days of the month, songs and even memory palace)
self-referencing : put yourself into the info you are trying to studying
spacing : seperate your studying into different times, try not to do everything at once and recall info frequently.

Your content needs to be seen by more people so I'm leaving this comment even though I have nothing meaningful to say

This guy is a very good teacher.

Thank you. ❤ I’ve been applying some of these without even knowing, but I also tend to cram a lot, which is what you call “forcing” it in by repeating it over and over but you’re right, it’s not very efficient!

Excellent, succinct video! The kind of video that makes you subscribe on view.
I use compare and contrast (analyse, evaluate) a lot in my study, which comes in higher learning hierarchy in Bloom’s taxonomy. Basically I reference, relate and connect new information to the previously learnt information (already encoded in long term memory).
I feel that’s an excellent encoding technique, although time consuming, but the longer retention is just outstanding.
    Where does it fit here?
