      It could be an offshoot, if you are in the new world, and a part that is cut off (crazy storm systems etc. maybe?) One thing I really hope to see from Wilds is the ability to truly observe how Elder Dragons can impact the environment around them.
    I would say B. Vaal Hazak did this a little when they went to the Ancient Forest, but it can be a lot more involved than that. Teostra visits a forested area and burns part of it, or raises the ambient temperature of the area so you need cool drinks in areas you normally don't. Velkhana freezing over bodies of water and causing snow in otherwise temperate regions.
    Or, what if the sandstorms in the trailer were caused by a Jhen Mohran? Or of there's a coastal area that experiences occasional earthquakes, caused by a Ceadeus? You don't necessarily have to show those monsters on-screen, either; a little secret area with a couple of shinies that point back to the monsters causing the phenomenon in question should be enough for people to connect the dots.
    Imagine if there was a title update that was going to add Gore Magala (or some similar monster), but before that update dropped, you could find "Mysterious Scales" or notice other monsters acting strangely (which, sidenote, is another thing I want: monsters reacting to the presence of other monsters in ways that go beyond "fight 'em!"). New players might become intrigued by this mystery, while series veterans get to feel smart for recognizing the signs of a familiar monster before it gets officially announced in the coming days.
    I dunno, I think the idea is neat.

    • @rongon-100

      I think the idea has a lot of merit, and it can be implemented heavily or just to a minor degree. Either way it would be a boost to the games overall atmosphere which is my jam. When you play a game like monster hunter for so many hours, variations in the environment would be greatly appreciated as a reason to continuously enjoy the hard work put into making such amazing environments.

      I'd definitely appreciate really powerful monsters showing up early - like way before you're ready to fight them.
      Maybe it's just me, but I really enjoyed the feeling in World of running from the big Apex predators when they showed up and I wasn't geared for them yet.
      Especially if they stuck around for a few quests - essentially giving you the choice of dealing with the hazard of an Elder Dragon / Apex Monster when questing in a region, or *avoiding* the region altogether for like 4-10 quests until it moves on.
      What'd be even cooler would be if the map was altered for a bit after they left, too.

      @borzoilover4156 Před 2 měsíci

      I want their intelligence to also be realised it would be cool to have certain elder dragon species act differently towards you depending on how you hunt them- sort of like a reputation system like some could act friendly if you hunt rival species stuff like that or like kushala daora invading quests because they hold grudges

    something that is worth noting: tokuda wanted to add underwater areas with underwater combat in world, specifically in the wildspire waste, with the swamp there being what remains of that idea. they gave up on this pretty quickly due to time concerns, but it is worth considering that he wanted to add it and that capcom is thinking about it.
    but given how much bigger in scale wilds is, I do agree we probably won't see underwater combat. if the game had smaller maps like world, I think we might have seen underwater combat... but both underwater combat, expanded weather and a much bigger world together seems like too many innovations for one project.

    I got into Monster Hunter when MH:World came out and I mostly played Charge Blade through base World and CB/Switch Axe through Iceborne. I eventually dabbled into Hunting Horn, and now I'm trying to learn every weapons' nuances. Throughout my playthroughs, I felt that I wanted a "blunt Dual Blade" archetype in the form of "fist" type weapons that use explosive Phials in tandem with their attacks. I envisioned that their combo strings would be more free-form allowing the player to string "light", "heavy", and "phial" attacks in any order with special powerful charged combo-enders.
    After learning about the tonfas, I think they embody the idea that I had in my head of this agile brawling weapon with quick strikes weaved in with powerful hard hitting attacks. Even if tonfas don't return in Wilds, I hope that they return in some MH title down the line because they look pretty rad, especially those pile-bunker attacks!

    For underwater combat, I want it returned but I don't think it happen anytime soon. The closest they might do is have a raid monster or something of that degree and be semi underwater to test and see how the community would react

    Honestly, I feel like a full open world in wilds is a bit more likely than most people think. In the trailer we were shown only one biome throughout the whole runtime, and it looks MASSIVE. I think just from the trailer and previous games, I think it shouldn't just be swept off the table. We don't have any idea of how big the map is because we were shown only the one biome, which also might mean it isn't open world as well, but there's also the fact that the raptor has pouches on its side that look like they might be a moble version of the camp boxes. Why would we need that if it was just big open areas? I know I could be wrong entirely, but a full open world just seems to be what the series has been building up to. An open thriving world of monsters that can be explored in its entirety. Again I could be wrong, so feel free to come back and bully me if I am wrong when the game releases.

    • @victory8928
      @victory8928 Před 7 dny

      I feel the problem is implementation sure the games may seem to be leaning into that but open world is such a massive issue and had saturated the market I don’t think it is a good idea. I personally don’t like open world as much especially cause it would mean removing aspects of the games that were staples. Doesn’t mean we can’t see monsters in very environmental situations but I don’t think it makes sense to dwell into it since it is such a sink and can be such a trap. I hope we have great traversal and that monsters utilise that and the environments well but I don’t think the game should be open world

      @@victory8928 While, yes, I understand the market is very oversaturated with open world games, and their enviornments can feel very empty and bland, I don't see why open world is inheritly a bad thing. I really appreciate how grounded your theories are. I've been seeing a lot of high hopes and hype trains, and while I am DEFINITELY hype, I think setting down unrealistic expectations for a game we know *literally nothing about* is just unhealthy and will only result in disappointments across the board. While it's fun to have crazy theories, I just don't think it's worth it. Usually just ends up leading to misinformation anyway, and then everyone ends up mad.
    But yeah, I found myself agreeing with you at every point and it was very refreshing to see some down-to-earth, everybody-chill-out-a-bit, lets-take-a-moment-to-really-think-about-this-rationally Wilds content.
    Personally though, I do believe Wilds is going to be open world. I definitely understand with and agree with your points about the complexity and all that, but I know open world is something they've been working towards for a long time, and this might be our first big step into it. If not though, it's definitely coming down the line. No matter what the game ends up being I'm going to be playing it regardless. Can't fucken wait dude!

    So, in evidence for an open world design for wilds. 1, world's maps are, in fact, walking distance from each other so tech limitations was the bigger issue for make world open world. 2, both rise and world have 1 map with multiple biomes, so it seems they are at least considering how it could work.

      And said environments are kinda just phasing stuff cause guiding lands’s whole gimmick is that it is the new area for end game hunting while the Sunbreak one is to show off the three lords. I don’t think it makes sense to have massive interconnected worlds mostly cause you need good intermediates and that is lacking in some regards sure rotten vale and highland connect a bit (mainly on the highland end) and the ancient forest and wildspire connect but it feels a bit well segmented off in those cases. I just think that having some good maps that allow for unique ecosystems that the devs can add monsters to that fit would be cool maybe even adding back older maps that could just some unique love by making unique monsters for certain niches or revamping existing monsters with subspecies and the like to help flesh the map out while having good interactions. Having open world means you are gonna be getting lots of open space (look at elden ring which is literally cramped with stuff to do)

      @victory8928 I'm neutral on if it should or shouldn't be open world, my specific take is that the devs have been striving towards an open world experience with each iteration of the game. I could care less what the maps specifically are as long as the devs are executing on their vision. I also think from watching the series evolve that their ultimate vision includes a form of open world environments.

    I agree that MHWilds will probably be multiple large open zones, not an open world. My personal theory is that each "lightning rod" seen at the end of the teaser trailer is a physical indicator of where each fighting zone is, and if you take the end shot to mean that, the map looks like an expanded version of Rise's take on region design.
    I think people dreaming about the true open world fail to consider a lot of hurdles Capcom would need to get over with that formula. You really can't just drop Monster Hunter into an open world and expect everything to work itself out

    Stories 2 hunters used scoutflies and slingers if memory serves, which was in the old world I believe. I took that to mean its the standard kit of commissioned hunters who are working directly for the guild, rather than more independent hunters who use the kit and techniques of their home village.
    Not that stories is probably considered canon, but I don't care. It makes sense. Simple tools that are easy to train on while wirebugs probably take a lifetime of practice to use effectively.

    When you have these huge open fields one thing id like to see is that miltiple quest, maybe just sidequests, from multiple players take place on the same map. So you could just run into other hunters from your session and help them out spontanuosly.

    Considering that we never saw these things in world, and the wildspire not being that big of an area (you can see a large portion of it from astera), I believe this will either take place in the old world, or be a different area than the new world we were at before. It seems to me that the new world is just a peninsula and we'll be exploring the main landmass as "pioneers". Carrying multiple weapons, having mounts, and the camping gear indicate that the hunter is going to be playing more of an exploratory role in this game. I'd like to see some kind of mechanics that let us be more self sufficient rather than relying on a hub to return to. Maybe something like modifying weapons at your camp, and logging quests and hunts for yourself.

    Another important consideration with the potential slinger and scoutfly cage is that at the end of iceborne (during the fatalis mission), the research commission is teaching the guardians and general from the old world how to use the slingers, and they presumably brought that technology back to the old world. Therefore, it wouldn't be a stretch to think that even if it really was a slinger, that doesn't necessarily mean that it has to take place in the new world

    Open world can work as long as you have to discover a monster's lair, multiplayer might be a bit difficult to implement if all players could just wander around discovering different things at different times, the host would be screwed over
    Each lair can have like a mini arena so you get to use the environment to your advantage and do cool tricks
    Maybe they'll put more focus on the smaller monsters and endemic life
    Anyway I'm looking forward to it

    the main reason theories about it being in the new world may have appeared to be the scout fly cage and slinger but there's something else from back within MH World news cycle, in an interview they asked about why there are maps in the game that don't line up with the in game locale choosing map for expeditions. 1 of these was in the third/final base game quarters, and 2 more of this map in the main council tables in both bases or towns from the game. in said interview the devs remaked that they were impressed that they saw that and stated that the map we see when choosing locals in game is only half of the new world continent. this information has been out there or half a decade and the ideas for it are even older. not just in MH World's dev cycle but as old as the map the released as the world map of the Monster Hunter universe. that map had a continent to the west with half of it covered in clouds and look what we have now. we have storms as a key feature of the teaser. the mount in the treailer is also a lot like concept art they showed off on the 10 anniversary and that art was much older.
    nah, even if that's all solved some of them will just stay because the new world is just home now. also there's the possibility of another hunter's guild branch trying to go to the new world. maybe they make land fall on the other side of it. it's common in lore for the guilds to selfishly guard information, if it wasn't no game would ever question returning monsters like deviljho because he's a menace everyone would be told about but they don't share that so returning monster are treated with more mystery factor some times.
    there is no reason for them to have said that in World's news cycle, that it was only half the continent if they weren't going to show us the other half. if that were the case, if it was a scrapped idea, they never would have mentioned it and wouldn't have given us these maps that don't match. if WIlds is directed by Tokuda, it make sense that they would use cut ideas from the kind of hell development World had with the MT engine. come on guys, a section of the team took a year to do zorah when he's just a slight upgrade to a mechanic Insomniac did on the ps2 in 2003 so before MH1 released. MT framework is an utter joke and that's a huge part of why they are using the Re engine now because it's not only better but less embaressing.
    a weapon that is fast and blunt is something i've been asking for for a while. now, i don't want it right away, i'd prefer if they figure out what the hell they are doing with the 14 we have so far first. hammer losing in ko, it's entire perpose, to thing like s&s, bowgun sticky ammo, and bow's bag or rocks in World was unforgivable and ig has never fealt true to its aerial identity. not onece since ig was created, Rise got close but failed. don't just copy trash from the MMO that failed after existing as a statment of failure off go. they didn't trust their work to stand on its own so they went the parasyte rout and used the Monster Hunter name rather than compete with it.
    let's be honest, only fools thought that questare meant anything for Sunbreak. now, that stuff happening for Wilds holds more water.
    underwater combat as an idea is great. it's execution in tri wasn't. they said thy wnat to do it again someday, having it in early developeent for World but scrapping it. i'd expect and hope for underwater combat in 7th gen. i've said this for years, expecting 6th gen to be smaller changes like 2nd and 4th but i was wrong because of how successful World was. there are so many cool things for inspiration in creature design with sea creatures but not yet.

    Im looking to see how they will do with the maps, im hoping the reason why we are getting a mount is because the maps will be bigger and there will be more vertical exploration too. I think the mount being a mobile camp might mean that we will be limited to a second load-out and limited items to bring so we will have some restock but wont be an unlimited amount of restock/switch gears per hunt. That might be a bridge between the players that felt like the camps were too OP in world/rise and that ones that likes the way it is now.

    If i were to make a new weapon, i would make gauntlets. They would obviously be the light blunt weapons that we need but it needs something else, my idea would be that landing continues attacks you would charge up an attachment on your back that would bulk you up cad bane style. Eventually you would be twice as large and ten times as strong. In this state you could pick up boulders to throw or use as a shield admiral style, uproot trees to slam down on monsters, and if you knock them down, pick them up by the tail and hit them with a "so long gay bowser!". The act of spinning would deal cutting damage so theres a chance the sheer force of the spin would tear off their tail.

  • @fenison4430
    @fenison4430 Před 2 měsíci +4

    three things i wanna talk about here that were mentioned in the video or not:
    1. When it comes to the open world, i think there's one way that it could work without being the same as World, basically, you'd have your main hub, the place you prepare in for the hunts, where you buy and upgrade your armor and weapons, eat at canteen, prepare your items, everything like that, and then, when deciding to hunt a monster, you'd have a giant open world map where every location connects to each other, and the map would show the most likely place where the monster might reside in on the map, so you could choose a starting poing where you wanna land on the map (usually near the monster), you would land there trying to track, find, and hunt the monster, but you'd still have the option to explore the other areas just by going to where they are. It's basically like being able to go from the Ancient Forest into the Wildspire Waste and vice versa just by going there, without having to leave either location just to be able to enter the other one. I think this could also improve the whole "you're a hunter tracking a beast" idea the games seem to want to convey, because maybe then you'd also need to study the beasts more than you did in world, having to learn where they might spawn, where are the places they most often go to, what are the usual routes that they go through, at what points in time of the day do they go to those places, where they go to after they're hurt and running away, this all could also work in improving the stealth of the games, because if you knew everything there is to know about the monster, you could predict where it goes at what times, so you could always set up an ambush at the location where you know the monster will go to, tho this is more of just my own fantasy and i doubt the stealth and traps would be expanded upon like that in the final game :p
    Personally i can't really imagine how a monster hunter game could work without some sort of a main hub location where you can always come back to to prepare yourself for the next hunt, unless they really do expand on the whole "making your own camps" mechanic that some people have suggested might be a thing in wilds because of the tents and stuff that the lizard mount is carrying.
    2. When it comes to underwater gameplay, personally i would like if they introduced it, but only for gathering resources and *maybe* fighting small monsters with a few swings, no major combos or anything. It's just a fact that being able to swim and swim underwater adds immersion to games where it's allowed, and i think it'd be great to be able to hide from a monster underwater, or have to go gather resources from underwater, i think it would work, all they'd have to do is to just *not* make you fight the main large monsters in it, *maybe* you'd have one or two monsters that would try to swim in the water during your fight, but then the combat would be more about pulling them out of the water and fighting them on land, rather than fighting them in water, especially since i think that would add to the hunter fantasy of pulling a beast from their territory and fighting them on your own terms where you have more of an advantage.
    3. There's not many things i'd like for Wilds to do, i think the formula works, there's small things that i'd like like a bit more relience on stealth, or at least making stealth more viable, rewarding players for stalking the monsters and setting up devastating traps without the monster knowing the hunter was even there, or how i'd like if there were even more consumable items for preparation before the fight, like more potions, more slinger ammo types, more mantles, stuff like that, or improving on the layered armor system, making it so that even in the early game you're able to use a different armor set just for the looks even if you have to grind for it.
    But there's one and only thing i'd truly want them to add, or rather, remove, and that's allowing both hunter genders to pick whatever gender armor they'd like to use, i can't tell you how frustrating it is that i have to play as a guy in World because almost all of the female armor sets look like garbage in my eyes, usually because of the damn exposed thighs or exposed faces, male armor sets don't have those problems usually and i can just choose to be a faceless badass like i always love to be in games, but i can't do that with female hunters, which sucks because even as a guy i've always liked playing as women in games, and i think the perfect solution to this problem is just allowing either gender to pick either armor set, why can't i be a badass bulky knight as a woman? and why can't i be a skinny twink in a skirt? for a game that puts such big focus on customization, i think the games do a really poor job of actually allowing you to look like what you want to look like, which is a shame.

    • @ravensblade
      @ravensblade Před 2 měsíci

      1. I don't know about hunters that would travel several biomes to hunt single animal. I think traveling to separate map with selected biome is more realistic then one map encompasing all biomes. It's like is works in real world. You travel to particular hunting area and then hunt. Nobody go out hunting in savanna and then during hunt walk to tundra. You either go to one or to another. If you create single map were you can just walk for single hunt from hot dessert to ice covered tundra then the world will look small.
      Second if the areas are to close it each other it would make whole world looks small, were whole continent spawning forest is just few acres of trees. And even in case of bigger maps like RDR for example is hard to me to imagine how anybody would like to hunt across the whole map for every single hunt.
      I doubt you will also like spend 10 or 15 or more minutes to just travel to other biome for continuation. Maybe once or twice. And then you would just want to fast travel to and between biomes to check diffrent location.
      But in that case what's the point of open world outside you "knowing" is connected? You would just drop by fast travel in single hunting ground. It may look good as idea but ultimately it gives almost nothing for effort and compromises that need to me made.
      And how that would work with whole hunting system, timers and quest rewards? You will be basically make whole new game that is just set in MH world.

  • @dragoneye9595
    @dragoneye9595 Před měsícem

    Kinda late to the party but I have two points to make:
    1. Back when underwater combat was invented, it was developed on a way older engine. Maybe engine limitations were the reason why it was so difficult to develop. That's why I don't think it is unlikely for underwater combat. Plus they tried to make Lagiacrus work for MH World but failed (bcs they did not see how to make the fight great without unterwater combat). I feel like it really oculd return now as technology has improved alot.
    2. To the topic of weapons: weapons always released in a pair of two. The big swords (Long Sword and Great Sword), the lances (lance and gunlance), the morphing weapons (switch axe and charge blade, the blunt weapons (hammer and horn) etc. The only two weapons missing the other part are insect glaive and bow. So I personally see a spear like weapon or maybe a crossbow coming at some point. Tho if they decide to release another pair to the main series, fast blunt weapons would be a solid choice.

    I Could see them making underwater combat as a expansion due to them having more time and everything especially just to add the leviathan and piscine classes and add some new monsters as well, but as you stated the problem lies in the ability to balance both underwater and land as most of the monsters in tri could battle on land more so than water, but if the game sold well and did well i could see them using the profits to make a underwater area and only add a fair amount of monsters in that area as well as update existing ones. I doubt it still though as while it would be nice and cool it would be best to have a game where its fully immersed underwater for how much it costs and everything.

    I think this could be essentially a remake of the original, only now being able to see their vision come to life, which would explain seeing the Rathalos at the end of the trailer, being the flagship monster. They could revamp many monsters adding new or changing moves to challenge veteran players.

    Even though I enjoyed Rise more than I did World, I am hyped so hard for this game. Being an OG Hunter from Freedom 1, I hope that they will bring back the older (more complex) crafting system. I am pretty sure they won't, but hey, a man can have dreams :')

    The game with the best use of mounts is imo Guild Wars 2 without a doubt. And one of the very smart things they did when they introduce mounts in the game's 2nd expansion is decide that there isn't full on mounted combat, but each of the mounts has it's own unique dismount attack for when you engage in combat. Your mount does a unique attack that can be very useful and give you can edge, and then you are on the ground in normal combat.
    These are all different based on what mount you're using. The Raptor pulls enemies together which is great for cleaving them down. The rabbit does a cannonball that does a meaty stun. The sandjackel gives you a barrier of sand which is basically overhealth. The Dragon leaves field of fire on the ground that does good damage but no CC. It feels good compared to just getting off the mount, and I don't think Monster Hunter should open the can of worms that is full on mounted combat since that was basically the worst part of Elden Ring.
    So I'm hoping the Raptor is just full on not available in combat. If you attack a monster on the mount you get a special attack one time and then it keeps a safe distance until you're out of combat.

    So it could be that the hunter character is investigating the radical shifts in weather/ecosystems. With the probable reason being an elder dragon. And I agree that the raptor would likely not fight with you. But something I've seen tossed around is the idea that it could carry two weapons for you. Some noting the gun stock in the saddle holster.
    Oh and with the weapon theories, I think they could use another ranged option along with the tonfa. You know, keep things even.
    Also, I've been curious about where you put the Ride On stories before. But i guess it makes sense that you wouldn't see them as canon.

    the most important thing to me is NO RNG DECORATIONS.
    As long as Wilds has no RNG decorations, you just get the monster parts, and craft what you want. Ill buy the game and enjoy the hell out of it.
