- Speaking for the first time since those controversial headlines about them being dropped from Channel 4 were released, Escape to the Chateau's Dick and Angel are joining Christine in the studio to set the record straight. As well as that, they’ll be telling us all about their third and final book ‘The Chateau - Forever Home’ which documents the highs and lows of the past three years at their chateau. They’ll also be revealing their next project away from TV as they prepare to return to the UK next year.

This was one of my comfort shows. Watching it was like snuggling down on a winters afternoon with a big mug of caramel latte.
A TV show that actually lowered your blood pressure, I thank you for the 9 seasons.

The Chateau may have ended, but I hope it won't be the last we see of this lovely family.
So what did happen with the Pethericks? They don’t live that far apart.

Sadly, Billy Petherick and Gwendoline Mouchel plead guilty and were sentenced on Feb 5 2024 for stealing 76 religious artifacts from 40 beautiful old French churches. Even tho Billy was 27 yrs old when he committed the crimes, he claims “youthful immaturity.” They sold the items thru an antiques dealer who was also sentenced and on eBay. Reported in The Times, The Sun The Daily Mail and French news. You can easily research it.
These two people started a "chateau restoring movement"! Some statistics would help as to what number of chateaus, run down houses, mills, barns and farms have been restored, filmed and shown on youtube? They have started something big, dont know which or whom to follow on youtube anymore! Im glad that Covid didn't ruin all of their efforts, hard work and money. They've pulled through it, they've become successful and I hope that in the future they buy another run down building and go through the whole process once again!

First family, the eco farm Cornwall - what you saw a happy family was too good to be true - locals knew that. First wife still is an eco enthusiast.

When you have a problem with anyone, don't stoop to swearing etc otherwise the 'gripe/problem' gets lost. (Instagram photo of husband wife deemed as 'dark')

Actuellement, nous sommes ravi i de revoir la famille Strawbridge tous les fins d'après-midi de 17h00 à 21h00. Et les dimanches toute la journée. L'émission est tellement un succès que l'on revoit cette charmante famille sur nos écrans.

Michael Petherick worked on a lot of designs with Angel for bedding & materials which she used & claimed as her own & he got no recognition or pay for them.
Really enjoyed the concept of Escape to the Chateau - DIY, it was lovely meeting the other château owners and watching the chateaux turn into palaces!! More of this would be fantastic!!

Used to love these two when it started,but it all went to their heads..sorry to say I switch off now whenever I see them.
Loved this show and Angel is so creative with everything she does. They turned it into a beautiful Chateau.
Creative? In one episode we got a glimpse of a room with a bamboo pattern on the wall, just like Del Boy’s living room. Did she copy that as well as Michael Petherick’s designs. By the way Channel 4 pulled the plug on the series because of concerns about their behaviour. Easily checked out.
If it was that bad why did it take 9 series. Channel 4 was not all it’s cracked up to be. Issues with their staff as well. Yes she is creative, all that she had done over the 9 years is all on show. So what if she takes ideas from other people. They all do it.

@@SuziSellsSound Perhaps steal is too strong a word but if you listen to Michael she certainly conned him. His most recognisable design Potagerie is being sold as wallpaper and linen on her business site. Which ever way you look at it it’s his design. Have a look. She has no talent as a designer other than for simple childish shapes. If you ever saw the episode featuring the room with the bamboo design on the wall it was a straightforward rip-off from the Trotters living room.

I don't understand this accusation. If an artist or graphic designer is hired to draw a concept, then are paid, the design is owned by the person who hired the artist. If Michael Petherick truly had a claim to any designs, he would have sued the Strawbridges, right?

Also others, theft of art work was terrible her merchandiser would be nothing without it! Unforgivable. Labourers and workers reportedly not paid for work..
I'm not defending them, because I think they're not what they make out. As for not paying workers, it may be that they had Work Away people, who work 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, for bed and board.

If a company hires a graphic designer or artist to draw something for them, pays the agreed price, then the company owns the design. The company can use the design as a logo, advertising, or product. The Pethericks are not trustworthy. Michael's fundraising for renovations then he used the money for a vacation. Well they may have decided they were ready to end it, but that doesn't excuse the foul mouthed tirade that she hurled at the producer. I'm afraid I've lost respect for them after hearing that recording.

Most people aren't squeaky clean.
The recording of her telling off production? No different than Gordon Ramsey telling someone off on a random Tuesday.
Prince Phillip made a lifetime of it. It's hard to believe someone would be so thin skinned, but the Brits do seem to make sport of cutting tall poppies. I'm sure the producer is no saint. The Strawbridges are the winners in my book.
It was interesting series.
They had the best chateau of all the English in France. Angels ideals of design was the best.
They didn't decide to end it, the decision was taken by channel 4 following the abuse and bullying allegations towards the production staff. The audio is online if anyone wants to find it. Loved the show but after hearing the audio, it's not surprising that it's no longer running.
I don’t believe they would give up such a money spinner willingly. They were dropped by Channel 4 after an investigation into their behaviour. All sweetness and light on screen but obviously very different off. Michael Petherick can testify.

200 years ago, people didn't lock the animals in a box where they can't turn around, for an entire lifetime,
and very few cows and calves were knee deep in feces.
Today ( primarily in the west ) because of Gov. subsidies, many farmers keep the animals alive in whatever state of health in order to rake in subsidies and couldn't care less about the product because most of the money comes from the Gov.
So much for "animal welfare". Meanwhile, everybody is obsessed with CO2 while the Holocene Extinction is accelerating. Good game. We've come far.
