As others have Said NO NO NO !
DO NOT HAVE THE LINE TIED TO THE BIKE BEING TOWED ..... EVER !!
The biker being towed needs to be able to QUICKLY RELEASE FROM THE TOW BIKE .....
THIS WAS A DANGEROUS TOW EXAMPLE DO NOT DO THIS !!!
The tow rope should be centered on the towed bike and wrapped once and held only with hand pressure ....if anything happens the rider simply needs to loosen his grip and the rope is gone.
Allowing them to keep control .

Oops @ 3:10 :-) you should have included the crash to show how easy things can go wrong.

Problematic to have the towed bike secured with a loop they can't release if a problem develops. Instead, wrap the strap one turn around the towed bike peg, then the towed rider puts his foot on the strap wrap for towing. Should a problem arise, the towed rider can simply lift his foot and release the strap. This "bail-out" option doesn't exist with the loop around the foot peg as shown.

Coudln't the rider just unhook it with his foot?

With the rope under tension - which it will be when towing - that would be extremely difficult, if not impossible to do.

I agree with you.The attached rope should be able to be released by the towed rider.

I have an alternative and actually safer method, IMO.
Run the towing strap through the centre of the forks of the bike being towed - between the fork clamps - then run the strap around your bars and hold it to your lever. If at any point you feel like the towing vehicle is going to pull the bike over, or you need to cut loose, let go of the towing rope and it will go free from your bike letting you regain control and come to a standstill.
There is of course a slight tug when you first start moving but, having used this a few dozen times, I find it alot safer than suddenly finding yourself on the floor whilst the bike is being dragged up the road on it's side, and it also stops the likelihood of the towed vehicle locking up and acting as an anchor for the towing bike because they're strapped together.
Also - given that you're strapped to foot pegs - what happens when there's a turn and the tow strap leads over the towed vehicles front wheel/over the towing vehicles rear wheel? I personally prefer to mount more centrally to the bike - grab rails if possible. I've never gone over backwards because of it - although I do appreciate that towing from a lower point further forward on the machine helps the rider with stability and control, and that the towed vehicle can have less of an influence over the towing vehicle (even though if I were to slam my brakes on as the towed vehicle, I'm pretty sure the towing vehicle would fall over to the right, well, get pulled over to the right).
And finally - I towed a car with a Pioneer Torro 125 :D Ya don't need a thumping great 1200 engine to do that :P I also towed my caravan with my FZ6, and my FZ6 has a permanent tow bar on it for my luggage trailer :P

Braking and off road in general put a lot more stress on your head bearing than being towed!

Please don't follow that instruction. It is wrong!!! Totally wrong. One of the end line at the towed bike should be easy to remove never attached like on the instructional video never!!! You should always get chance to loose the line

Michal - I go between the fork clamps, up round the handlebar and hold it there with my left hand on the grip. As soon as I need to release I let go by hand and jobs a good'un. It means that when I'm getting towed, the force is directly forwards from the centre of the bike, rather forwards from one side of the bike meaning the bike wants to turn all the time it's being towed.
