    • @OutdoorBeards
      @OutdoorBeards  Před 5 lety +4

      Sorry for late response! Cook off should be with the hood open. Otherwise the excess you’re burning off will rise up and burn to the top of the hood. Since your doing this with the hood open and on a high setting you’re not looking for a specific temperature. You’ll know it’s done when you stop see the wisps of smoke.

      I assume you meant get food off instead of "get rid of". If so you want a wire grill brush for scrubbing the bits of food of the grill plates. periodically, spray a little oil on the plates after cleaning and scrub it in with the wire brush.

    • @OutdoorBeards
      @OutdoorBeards  Před 3 lety

      That would depend on the grill. For instance, my grill has cast iron grill plates, though I have had other grills with coated plates in the past. The downside to nylon is that you can’t clean the grill while it’s hot because you will melt the nylon. I don’t like having to wait for the grill to cool down and since I have cast iron it’s not an issue for me.

      Manners03 I could see that being beneficial for the grill plates. In the case of my grill those are the only parts that are cast iron. Cooking on them will also season them further just like a skillet. Just depends on how much time you want to spend on it.

    • @OutdoorBeards
      @OutdoorBeards  Před 4 lety +1

      Nothing should be sticky. The hood may brown during this process but you should not have sticky residue left over. Could be the oil you used? Or perhaps too much. This is the first I’ve heard of this problem and I have never had it happen. For the sticky residue, the best I can suggest without having it in front of me is a good scrub with a 000 steel wool combined with a grill cleaner.

    • @OutdoorBeards

      Sérgio Henrique I remember I mistakenly did that to a stainless steel wok years ago, thinking I had to season it. It looked like that, too, and I just threw it out. I’m not going to do that to my new BBQ.

      @@andyjibb so if this was done on a brand new bbq and left brown colour all over grill and flavorizer, what's the best solution?

    i've noticed using oil like that for season, attract roaches!

      Mac Pelao i don’t have roaches where I live. Never thought about it but I would think the roaches would be attracted to the grill after you cooked either way.

    How bad is it, if these steps are skipped? Someone I know is using his grill for the first time and did not do anything of these steps. Should I be afraid?

    • @OutdoorBeards
      @OutdoorBeards  Před 2 lety +1

      This is more for the longevity of the grill. The burning off of coatings from the manufacturer is the only health related thing and that would happen the first time he heats it up before he starts cooking.

    Nice video. However, BBQ is a sauce and or flavor and a grill is a cooking tool. Words matter

    I bought this as my first propane grill. It's been a fun, learning experience czcams.com/users/postUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . I think it's a bit too pricey after looking at other grills, but it wasn't hard to put together and it works really well. I love the side burner option for heating food during a power outage. I have an electric stove and live in the South (Hurricane season), so this was a bonus. I also bought a cover for it and it has protected it nicely (the Char Broil All-Season Grill Cover 3-4 Burner: Large). Every few grill sessions, I take the rack (or grate) and burner covers off and clean them with a non-abrasive scrubby and mild soap. I wipe the excess off of the bottom as well, taking care to avoid the gas and pilot lines.
