I didn't "care" for it when I first heard it (won't play the blame game) BUT as I just posted, we were having a week's teaching on the Holy Spirit and the worship leader opened up with this song; we sang it UNTIL it (the reality) got in our spirit! A week later, she had a stroke. I kept hearing the song and saying Lord, your' still a good good father! Three weeks later, she was back in church! I'm probably a tad older than the typical commenter here, but I love this song, and I really like most everything Chris Tomlin does. I'm a little biassed because I was fortunate enough to meet him some years ago at a worship leaders conference. I sat in a little classroom with twenty or thirty others and listened to him (and the other teachers) talk about leading worship - not about performing, but about just loving God. I was touched by his humble, peaceful spirit. When you see him in videos, and in concert, that spirit seems to come through. Thank God for people like Chris who pour their hearts out in music that helps us praise Him.

i was not lucky enough to have a earthly father who was a good father in fact he was a terrible sick individual but thanks to the love of my true father God i was able to survive and be strong through it all. He gives me the strength every day to not only survive but all also to not give up on love in my life. Hes protected me, he fights for me, I fight for him, hes a gift, and just he's like a uncle / big brother that I've never had before. He pushes challenges me he pulls out the best in me when I don't see it, he believes in me Chris, he doesn't allow me to quit or give up, when I broke off a friendship days ago I was pretty upset and in tears I ran to him through text, and he responded back and reminded me of what I was learning through the course was taking by him. Through the breakup I learned a important lesson Chris. To have more discernment. You've taught me Chris that god runs to me with arms open telling me he loves me, even in my doubt fear worry stress or bad days. I'm so grateful Chris. Hes set me free from the trauma from being bullied, and from the verbal and emotional abuse by a former riding coach, I can say I forgive, I couldn't do that before. I can see how the enemy works, yeah hes tried to destroy my family but hes defeated. Hes given me visio, to use the abstract art that hes given me and to be a voice for people like me, to raise awareness. I haven't had much luck yet, but again its like you say we have to trust, to rest and to wait in his timing most importantly to surrender our will to his. Seek him to worship him, not to get what we want but because hes worthy.
