I caught an edge at like 40-45mph once. Friends said they saw me go over the crest of the hill and then a massive cloud of snow flung up in the air, rolled a bunch of times but ended up being ok (dont know how). I was under the chair lift and had like 4 people ask if I was dead😂

If you werent worried about the people behind you, you couldve kept a carve and lost speed as you needed at the end of the carve, ive done this learned the hard way.. now i just give a signal slow down let them pass and wait awhile and continue on... remember at high speed you should pretty much always have full edge commitment and be carving and losing speed and the end of the arc by slipping the board and adjustimg angle as needed
One year, while trying to set a personal speed record on the backside of Montezuma Bowl at ABasin, I had a GPS clocked run of 58mph which is about when my board slightly drifted and I caught the backside edge. Slammed me so hard into the snowpack and must have done 8 or 9 tumbles before sliding to a stop. Knocked the breathe right out of me, pulled my hams and put me into a daze for the rest of the weekend. I was so lucky not to have broken anything (that time).
