- Can I Catch Every Fish in the Desert? (22 Species)
Today I attempted to catch all 22 species of fish that I've caught here in the valley before. I am specifically fishing the Phoenix area, and only it's urban scenes. Enjoy!

BEFORE COMMENTING THAT THIS IS NOT A DESERT READ BELOW:
A desert is defined by an area that receives less than 10 inches of rain water every year. On average Phoenix gets 8 inches of rain each year. By definition Phoenix is a desert even though it is populated and considered a city.
Thank you guys so much for the support on this video!!!
One thing I’d like to note. Since uploading I’ve learned that common carp, mirror carp, and ghost carp are all technically the same species. They all share the scientific name Cyprinus carpio and have identical DNA. Think of the others as a shiny Pokémon version of the common carp. The redbreast tilapia I caught is actually a redbelly tilapia also.
I’m still relatively new to fishing having started only 7 months ago in April so I still have a lot to learn!
Same thing with the koi. Same as common and Mirror‼️
@@blueraptorgaming3803 koi are actually a different species. In recent times they made the declaration that it is NOT a common variant. The koi scientific name is Cyprinus rubrofuscus where commons and mirrors are Cyprinus carpio.
dude had work in the middle of his challange. what a beast.
Actually tho, like how
Haha I’m sure I would’ve gone 22/22 if I didn’t have work
The title of this video sounds like an ancient asian riddle
😂😂😂 that would explain the 50,000+ views lmaoooo
living his best life, catching fish. nice man. keep it up.
Thanks man! I appreciate it 🙏
Great idea for a video. Good to see someone with some fresh ideas for fishing content. Love seeing you show off how diverse even a dessert fishery can be.
It’s awesome how many fish there are for sure. Thank you for watching and the positive comment!!
Nice man! I was watching this while my two older daughters were eating breakfast. They got sucked into it and kept watching with me! Well done! Solid editing work and making a longer video a page turner!
Thank you nick!!! Certainly a new style for me but it seems people are liking it. Thank you for watching and say hi to the family for me ❤️🙏
You forget to catch legendary channel catfish
What 😂😂😂😂

Random youtube popup. Nice job. Lived in the East Valley for 10 years. AZ has some decent fishing but man it's tough. Especially those urban lakes. Unless you have a boat to go out to the big lakes its rough even then. Grew up in PA and now back, talk about different fishing techniques.
Thanks for watching!!! It’s definitely interesting out here
Brought a tear to my eyes. Next time you’ll get all 22 🙌 this is definitely my favorite fishing video
Man it was a tough one. I think if I didn’t have a job I’d get it easy
Great video keep at this man I can see your growth coming. Well edited and clearly you’re a passionate well put together fisherman.
Thank you so much!!!! I appreciate you watching. This is only the beginning 💪
I’m glad CZcams recommended me this video, love it!!!!
Thank you!!!!
Just got this vid recommended, such a dope vid and glad it popped off for you
Thanks man!! Me too, so stoked about it 🙌
Nice work. I am a fly fisherman from NY and lived in Phoenix for 10 years but never fished there. A striper in Phoenix??? That's crazy. They put up a good fight but nothing like a trout (I also spin reel around the NYC waters). Tigh lines my friend.
Hey! That’s awesome and thanks for watching! Yessir striped bass can be found through various canals mostly in Scottsdale but they’re not very common and usually don’t get big at all.
Top quality content! Watched every minute of it! Keep it up you got so much potential bro !
I really appreciate that man thank you for your support 🙏❤️
Very nice video & the editing is on point! You deserve more views
My hope was for this video to get 1,000 views so I’m already more blessed than I could even imagine! Thanks for watching!!
Thank you! Inspired us to go down to Phoenix this weekend to try this challenge!
Heck yeah!!!! I’ll be in California doing the same challenge but for saltwater. Good luck y’all!
Love the video bro, great catches! I'm always looking for new fishing spots in the valley, so I might have to check some of these places out
Thanks for watching!!
Really cool video, man. I am glad that the CZcams algorithm showed it to me. I have fished about half of your spots and they are all awesome spots for the species you were catching there. A lot of them hold way bigger ones like you were saying in your video. You spent a lot of time on the road in this challenge too. lol
Thank you! Yeah definitely just went for numbers in this one haha. I appreciate you watching 🙏
@FishingWithPorter, Awesome video. This shows me that Arizona fishing is underrated and I'm an avid fisherman who's fished in about half of the states and several countries. If I ever visit Arizona, I definitely want to fish there.
I’m so happy to hear that! Hit me up if you’re ever down here I can show you around
Arizona must be sad that the host of river monsters never came to Arizona to do a program😂
This is my kind of video! Awesome stuff! I found your channel through Sean (Angling Spiders). I have done a few species challenges myself. We dont have the same diversity up north in Canada but still fun. I havent caught most of the fish you did in this vid! Cheers!
Heck yeah thanks for checking the channel out! Very different worlds for sure most of the stuff I caught here only survives in warm water and we rarely get below 40 degrees Fahrenheit here (although we get up to 120). Thanks for watching!
Some incredible looking rivers and lakes, if I lived near those I dont think I'd stop fishing. Great vid mate.
I never do stop haha. Thanks for watching I appreciate your comment 🙏
Love the video man. Really enjoyed watching it
Thank you!!! Glad you enjoyed it 😎
Great video man just found you on my FYP and this will not be the last time I will watch ur channel
Heck yeah I appreciate it man!!! I actually just had another video drop about 15 minutes ago. A more chill video but content is content!
Dope video man, keep doing what you love
Thank you so much! I’ll be a fisherman til the day I die
I have no idea how i got here but im glad i did cant help but appreciate the effort and the fact its an original idea💯
Thanks man that means a lot 🙏
Love these kind of multi-species videos. Super dope.
Thank you!!!
Man, what a great video! I’m from San Bernardino CA area, but go to Phoenix a lot. Thanks for the entertainment and inspiration to go out there and hook up with some of these species. Tight lines bro
Hey! I’m in California right now haha. Thanks for watching!
Cool video man hope this blows up for you
It’s already blown up more than I could ever imagine. Thank you for watching!! 🙏❤️
your excitement makes this video so good
I always get hyped over cool fish 😎😎 thanks for watching!
Not gonna lie I had no idea there was this much interesting stuff to fish for in Arizona
Right??? There’s even more than this I believe including minnow species there are 58 species to be caught in all of Arizona. Thanks for watching!!
AWESOME video! You should hold a fishing meet up for sure, that would be epic.
See my recent community post! Me, thefishinmagician2.0, southwest fishing, and more are holding a meet and greet / trout fishing day February 3rd!!
Porter, this was a sick video man!! You got yourself a new subscriber... now I hope to see you around the valley fishing someday!
Thank you for watching and the positive words!! I’m always out fishing so sooner or later we’ll cross paths haha. Welcome to the channel!

bro nice catch on that red-eared sunfish! That was a whopper!
Also cool to see this vid, I live in Florida now but I used to live in Tempe and Mesa and have been to Phoenix a bit so super cool to see someone fishing in the valley :D
Thanks man!! That’s awesome I wish I lived in Florida 😭😭😭 I’m so jealous. Getting some saltwater action first thing in the morning though!
I actually don't fish as I wanted to be a marine biologist and still love sea creatures. I wanna pet and hold the crabs and squid n stuff but yeah there is great fishing down here, yeah@@FishingWithPorter
Great video man! Those hooksets were solid.
Thank you for watching!! I appreciate it haha
You need to make this a series. I like this idea. Keep up the good content! 💯

Really cool video! That’s the best fishing
Thank you for watching!!!
Ya gotta go for some of the native species next time! Sonora Sucker, Desert Sucker, Apache Trout, etc, etc! Too many cool ones in your area to ignore! Thanks for the fun video :)
For sure! I only targeted the species I've caught already in this video since I've never caught the suckers or an apache trout. But I definitely want to! Thanks for watching!!
This was great!~!!!
Thank you!!
Nice one mate, fishing over where you are sure seems cool, quite different to here in Australia! Good video dude!
Thank you!! Man I would love to fish in Australia. Especially saltwater. I appreciate you tuning in 🙏
Yeah there's tons of cool opportunities in the salt over here, definitely give it a crack someday if you can! Largemouth bass and others you guys have are definitely on my list too, cheers!@@FishingWithPorter
I grew up in East Phoenix. I had no idea this was even possible, dude. Dang.
Haha I wanted to show people what was here! Thanks for watching!!
Dope video, even better that someone has the Deathly Hallows symbol on the bridge 😂
Haha no kidding there’s all kinds of grafiti on that bridge 😂😂 thanks for watching!!
Great Video. Look for to you coming back down to Chicago.
Me too man!! Thanks for checking it out! 🙏

Great fresh idea come to sweden and try it haha for a whole new experience.
Oh man I could only imagine. Thanks for watching!
This is an amazing video man ive been looking for places to catch smallmouth and striper in the valley but i thought there was none
There’s plenty of striper canals in the Scottsdale area!! Thanks for watching!
Dam man I’ve lived here forever and hit all these spots I’m surprised I never passed ya. Awesome fishin brotha and it’s not easy out here
Im sure I’ll bump into you eventually!! Thanks for watching! It’s tough but it’s a ton of fun 🙏
Wow 😊
Definitely a bot
Great video, I’ll be back for more
Thank you for watching!!! I appreciate it 🙏
such a good vid, you deserve way more subs! but for now here is 1 extra.
Thank you so much!! I was at around 650 before this video uploaded so I’ve been so blessed to be where I am now. I just applied for CZcams partnership this morning since this video made me elegible! Thanks for watching!!
Very unique and interesting fishing content . This video comes in at the top 10% of fishing content on YT . While watching I thought " this guy doesn't even swear or use expletives ..well until you hooked the Red Ear . 😅 I would have used every swear word in the book if I hooked that beast . I really enjoyed your content .
Haha!!! Sometimes I can’t contain the excitement. I appreciate you watching!
Good job!
Thank you!’
This was really a cool video 👍
Thanks quagmire!! Giggity
Awesome video!!! I'm planning on getting my first fishing license in April, so I've been watching lots of fishing videos ^.^
Awesome! Thank you for watching. I got mine April this year and it’s been a wild ride ever since
What an amazing video man! Im new to the area and i would love to go fishing with you sometime! I fished alot in oregon but Im having trouble finding the right spots here, ive tried a few canals but no luck yet.
I’m booked out for a bit but I can definitely say the canals slow down this time of the year. Try hitting some local ponds if you can cuz that’s where the best bite will be! If you do hit the canals try dams and spillways for best success and smaller baits this time of year.
W video, watchin from texas ♥
Thank you!! Much love from Arizona ❤️❤️
Im driving to AZ Pheonix on monday with my dad to pick up a 100k boat and wondering if I should bring fishing tackle and this video gets clicked on haha
Hahaha that’s awesome do it!!!!! Hopefully this video shows you just how many fish can be caught here
@@FishingWithPorter Ye thanks man
Try saguaro lake, or the salt
Wow!!!
Thanks for watching!!
how does this Man only have 666 subscribers? well, 667 now lol

@@FishingWithPorteramazing, watch a lot of fishing videos and yours are getting recommended so it means algoritm is doing their thing making you bigger
@@Getmadman heck yeah I’m blessed!!
awesome video bro!
Thank you so much for watching!!
Oh damn i didnt know there are red breasts in the US besides bets at all. Theyre super fun to target and they should be almost everywhere here in the northern part of south africa but they've been poached, killed by polution or all wiped out by bass and carp. Great video though, great qauilty and it was really entertaining
Oh man that’s crazy. They’re very rare in Arizona but this particular pond is loaded with them. Thanks for watching!
Love this idea! I might have to do something similar here in Ontario
Do it!!! It was super fun and obviously became very popular!
Nice video man
Thank you I appreciate it!!
What a beautiful video
Thank you! ❤️❤️
I never thought I’d say this, but nice bread transitions 3:41 e
😂😂😂 i never thought I’d hear that either. Thanks for watching!
Where were you when you caught the common carp?
Awesome video
Thank you!!!
sick vid bro keep it up
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed 🙏
I can’t wait 😤
Hoping this is my best vid yet. It’s certainly taken the longest time
This is so awesome, me and my dad love fly fishing for trout here in AZ and that's always a big commitment for the weekend or day trips usually with long drives and planning. But every now and then we hunt down some fish at the local ponds and its always pretty fun and easy to get to.
It’s a blast for sure! I plan I picking up fly fishing soon to get into some of the wild trout here. I love going up north and trout fishing the small creeks but it’s awesome how many fish there are scattered around the valley!
@@FishingWithPorter You for sure gotta try Fly fishing for gila , browns, and rainbow trout its awesome. Especially at some of the Payson creeks and oak creek in Sedona.
@@ball40045 for sure! I’ve caught stocked gila and rainbows and I’ve caught some wild browns all on worms but for the wild trout challenge I’m definitely gonna have to learn. Thank you for watching by the way 🙏
@@FishingWithPorter Of course man, I recognizer quality and hard work. Good luck fishing too!
@@ball40045 thank you!!! You too 💪
Your can now become known as the “desert fisher”
Too bad my buddies username is desert_fishin 😂
Hey Porter. We moved here from Denver 6 months ago and broke foot at beginning of fly fishing season so have been hitting the pond behind my house instead (your #2). Was going to put up pics, but can't here. Was going to say you might want to come back. Since I knew nothing of what lived in this pond I think I skunked out the first 7 times I fished it. Now, sport fish most days and when I'm up for it, cats. I've been pulling 7-10 lbs cats of here pretty much every day. Everyone should learn to fish and stoked you're loving it so far. I don't really want our area to get packed with people, but you seem like a solid guy so I was going to let you know there's much, much bigger fish here. (I use a size 2 octopus hook (safer for fish) with a snell knot on it). The bigger the hook, the bigger the fish. Keep posting and good luck!
thank you! I appreciate the info. I haven’t fished there in a while but I know people have been having success there lately! Thank you for watching 🙌
Dope video idea
Thank you!!!
You treat them with some respect. More important than one might think. Thank you for doing that :)
Thank you!! I try to be better about that every time I go out. I appreciate you watching 🙏
Redbreast Talapia, a super species in South Africa to target in Tournaments. SUBSCRIBED
