    I met Michael Uslan at Salt Lake FanX. He told me that one of the reasons a movie never happened. Is because Batman Beyond is such a niche market. They could never find investors. The thinking is this. If they've never heard of it, no one else has either. Then, no one will go see it.

    You know, here's a suggestion that will take us way back: while in 1948, Columbia Pictures created a movie serial revolving around Superman, they weren't the first to show interest in the property. Republic Pictures twice tried to create a Superman serial (once in 1940, once in 1941). The story behind that could be quite interesting in itself.

    It was nice seeing Terry in the Crisis Part 2 animated movie. There’s plenty of room in their animated movies for a Batman Beyond release.

  • @TheLadySilverMoon

    I think an animated Batman Beyond move would be the best option, especially if it's in the same style as the Spider-verse movies. I think the aesthetics of the animated show would fit well with that kind of animation. And instead of old man Bruce they could use Commissioner Barbara Gordon as a mentor figure for Terry.

    The real reason why the 2002 version never got made was because of it's chosen director who got the project started. Boaz Yakin. He would go on to say in a interview:
    "I had just made Remember the Titans and my inclination is to always go off a trend: make an independent film after I make a studio film. I spoke to my agent, and he said, 'I think you need to do another studio movie before you do that.' I was just basically like, 'Well, if I'm going to do a studio movie, like, I want it to be Batman' -- which at the time I just meant, if I'm going to do a studio movie, I want it to be a big ol' thing.
    He came back to me and said, 'I have a meeting set up for you at Warner Bros. about Batman.' I was like, 'What!? [Laughs] Okay.' I guess at the time I think Darren Aronofsky was developing a Batman: Year One type of thing. So I said, 'Okay, let me see what I can do,' and I came up with this pitch on Batman Beyond. It was almost like Sam Raimi's Spider-Man but a little bit darker -- a teenage, kind of futuristic, cyberpunk Batman thing."
    And the reason why it never got made was because his heart wasn't too attached over time even though WB really wanted it to happen.
    "[I] very quickly got the feeling that I would be in the zone, the madness, and I didn't really have the heart for it at the time and I basically bailed after one draft. I just went, 'I can't do this.' It might have really hurt my career. I went off and wrote the best script I ever wrote that never got made. But it was just one of those moments in time where you think you want to do something, and then you realize you don't really want to do it, and for some reason it's on your IMDb page for the rest of your life. [Laughs] Batman seems to be popular in any iteration. I think [Batman Beyond] is apart enough from the regular Batman that people are allowed to play in that playground, without sort of f***ing with continuity and all this stuff that people are so concerned with. It's a different look at the character."
    The creators of the show even mentioned this on one of their DVD commentary by claiming his version wasn't a faithful adaptation to the show's style and wasn't gonna capture the Futuristic world.

    The real reason these didn't happen, is Warner (regardless of who is in charge) don't understand "Cape movies".
    The guy who made a good Superman movie can make a good Batman. The guy who made a good X-Men/Batman/Watchmen movie can make a good Superman movie. The guy who makes movies about quirky outsiders can make the entire DCU.

    Don't forget about the other three Batman films either in production or coming out soon: Crisis Part 3, Batman Ninja vs Yakuza League, and Aztec Batman (which has somehow survived all the M&As).
    Also, even if they did make a Batman Beyond film in the same vein as Spider-Verse, it might be wrongly accused of being a ripoff solely by the visuals.

    Okay, Columbia and Sony never owned The CW. It was a joint venture between CBS and Time Warner (which sold majority stake to Nexstar as Paramount and Warner Bros Discovery) . But what might have tripped you up is that CBS is the abbreviation of Columbia Broadcasting System. It has nothing to do with Columbia Pictures

    Didn't know there was another animated movie under consideration. I'd be onboard for that, especially if they got the same voice cast back. But wasn't there also a rumor about a live-action film in the DCEU that would have starred Michael Keaton? I didn't hear about that until it was already "cancelled", so I'm not sure if that was ever really a thing. I assumed that canned BATGIRL movie would have explored some of those ideas.

    "There's just too much damn Batman." Many would disagree with you saying that, but I've grown tired of Batman and Gotham City quite a while ago. I'm just not interested in new Bat products anymore, ESPECIALLY if they feature the heavily overused Joker again ... but a Beyond movie would be the exception, mainly because it's so far in the future that it's not the same setting anymore in my mind. I'd welcome a movie without Bruce, with Terry being on his own. And I'd be ecstatic about a Spiderverse-style Batman Beyond movie. Just WHY doesn't Warner want my money?

      @digitaltailsmon4096 Před 2 měsíci

      Which is silly since guess who was also not mainstream enough to make a movie. His name was Ironman. And you know what happened, he got a chance at a movie, and it exploded and lead to an entire cinematic universe and the character to become a household name. I think that should give all pause to that justification from any against the idea.

    Hypothetical question if Michael Keaton was gonna play an elder Bruce Wayne in a Batman beyond movie who would play terry mcginnis?

  • @historylover
    @historylover Před 2 měsíci

    Man, Clint Eastwood would have been perfect casting. And obviously, Michael Keaton. I don't know -- it would be hard to have a Batman Beyond animated movie and not have Kevin Conroy be part of it. Having Terry be the solo Batman would be too much like a solo Batman movie. Casual film goers "Oh I know who Batman is! Let's go see this movie!" may also be going "Um... this isn't Bruce Wayne." I see a live action Batman Beyond movie being more appealing, in terms of that, than an animated one. However, it worked for Into the Spider-Verse. Those were some obscure Spider-Men.

  • @alexandrefrauches132

    Despite the amount of Batman films and series we're getting, I wish we had gotten this Batman Beyond film (even better if was animated) showing Terry working on his own and continue old man Bruce legacy after he passed away (with the film paying tribute to Kevin Conry).
    Having Inque as the main villain would allow the film to explore Terry's struggle, considering that she's was one the few, if not the only villain who Terry, techically, never defeated on his own (usually he had help from Old Bruce, Inque's daughter or Superman).

  • @DianaGohan
    @DianaGohan Před 2 měsíci

    I guarantee you if they found a way to just make their own AU Batman Beyond movie with Michael Keaton as old Bruce Wayne (though yeah why he gave up Batman would have to be different then in the DCAU cause Timmverse Batman using a gun to take down a foe... is just a common occurance in his world) and got the right kid to play Terry McGinnis they'd make a hell of a lot more money and get more public appeal then just inserting Keaton's Batman in that Flash movie. Then again like Batgirl maybe it would have just been written off for taxes as well a worry we have to have about EVERY WB project with Zaslav at the helm.

    The comics killed off Bruce Wayne in tribute to Kevin Conroy. It would be fun to see an animated movie. Take off from the point of the comic runs: Neo-Year and Neo-Gothic. You'd have to do very little to get people up to speed. Less than an origin story.

    I don't see the need for this movie. The show is a masterpiece, the film Return of the Joker is the perfect end, and the JLU episode "Epilogue" is the perfect... well... epilogue.

    That first theory is total baloney.
    UPN stood for United Paramount Network. By the time it merged with the WB, Paramount TV was turned into CBS studios, thus the "C" in the CW. The "C" in CBS does technically stand for "Columbia", but neither Columbia Pictures or their owner Sony have had anything to do with CBS since way, WAY back.
    Also, the very idea that Sony _or_ Paramount would have a claim over a Warner Bros. Animation-produced DC show just because it aired on a network that eventually merged with another company's network is ridiculous.
