The Whynter ARC-14S portable AC impresses with its solid build quality and sturdy hoses. Although not highly portable due to its size, it delivers excellent cooling performance, surpassing expectations. The noise level is manageable, providing a white noise effect. However, the window kit's cheap plastic construction is disappointing, and the exhaust air duct's limited reach could be improved. Despite these drawbacks, the unit effectively cools spaces beyond its recommended capacity.
I’m looking for something that I don’t have to hook a hose out of a window
You can use any of these without having to put the hose out the window, but there's a reason they tell you to do it. All AC will need to exhaust the hot air from your room, if you use the hose out your window it will throw all that heat outside. If you don't use it, all that heat is going to e dumped right into the same room you are cooling, meaning its going to take way longer to cool the room down as you're adding heat whilst the system is working to get rid of it.
You can also knock a hole in the wall and use that as a vent to outside if you don't want it going through the window, or buy a wall mount unit with an external heat pump. These options take away the portable aspect of it though.
Sulylunat is mostly right. I'm an HVAC tech and can add to his explanation. Humidity is always in the air. Having a device that will cool WILL create condensation of that humidity and it will either pool into a reservoir that will need to be emptied or piped out. On top of that if you think of a room at a hot temperature as 10 and want it cool let's say 5 to keep things simple, energy needs to be removed from the room. That's the Air conditioners exhaust air. You will want that blowing out of the room. An AC unit uses electricity to pull that number 10 down to 5 and blows out 6 or 7 depending on efficiency out the exhaust. The air conditioning unit is using power, therefore adding to the energy of the room the exhaust blows it out along with the energy you want out of the room. By not having an exhaust out of the room, all you're doing is adding more energy to the room and even with the AC on, if the exhaust is exhausting into the same room, the overall temperature will raise. You basically have to have an exhaust with electric AC units. The alternative is an evaporation AC. Water going from liquid to steam takes temperature out of the air without needing an exhaust. However, there's always a trade-off, the trade-off with evaporation is the humidity goes way up.

I've owned the the Whynter unit for over 3 years. It has served us well. But we recently purchased the Midea and it is hands down much better than the Whynter in every category. The Midea is much quieter at around 43 db versus the Whynter at around 52 db both on low settings. Also, the Midea cools our upstairs room in hot Texas much better. The Whynter vent that blows hot air can get very hot emitting heat while the Midea vent stays cool. The Midea is just newer technology and is more efficient.

The Whynter ARC-14S is a powerful, well-built portable AC, one of the best on Amazon. Efficient cooling, sturdy materials, but less portability. Limited remote functionality, manageable noise. Some drawbacks in window kit and exhaust duct positioning. Overall, it exceeds expectations and cools effectively.

We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment.I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

What about water condensation?
Water condensation happens when the humidity in a room at a set Temperature turns to water as the temperature lowers.
If you mean an evaporation cooling effect then you get a cooler temperature from the evaporation of water but a higher humidity. It is effective at lowering temperatures but not as effective as electric AC units because once the humidity reaches a maximum for the temperature of the room it will stop evaporating. Where an electric AC unit will continue to pump in cool air and pump out hot air.
Also something I know less about, I don't know what humidity does to electronics, but I'm always worried about it.

Physics and thermodynamics have not changed. HVAC and Wall Mounts have the same basic parts just placed outside the home. Not everyone can afford HVAC or are allowed/able to install them.
