FACTS
the dark, hopeless and gritty atmosphere really sold it for me
-I would say you should wait until after you play 1, 2, and 3 before watching the trailers for 4 and 5.
-the games can be a little emotional sometimes but very well worth it. I think you will love these games.
Very glad that I didn't watch those, then 😂 I had a feeling it would be similar to Mass Effect 4 trailer where it would reveal something super obvious.
Any info about 4 and 5 would definitely spoil the big moments and conclusions of the trilogy. Start at Gears 1, then do 2 and 3 @@MegMage. They can be very difficult so don't let anyone make you feel bad if you want to use a more casual/standard difficultly to work through the story in a timely manner.
@@MegMage for context no spoilers 1-3 can basically be treated as a complete trilogy similar to star wars with the original and sequels
@@pricefieldx I think it's useful to classify 1-3 as the first arc as it were, and then the games proceeding it, the second arc.

Fun Fact: The Gears of War "Mad World" trailer was directed by Joseph Kosinski, who went on to direct Tron: Legacy, Oblivion, Only the Brave, and Top Gun: Maverick.
Also, the bodies found in the setting for the Gears of War 3 "Ashes to Ashes" trailer was a result of the Hammer of Dawn strikes. Basically, the Hammer of Dawn is what happens if satellites with lasers, the atom bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the Mount Vesuvius eruption had a baby.

Also definitely recommend playing in order of release if you decide to give it a shot, it's a pretty linear timeline of events from each title.
OMFG!!! Dude! The books fill the gaps between the games and they’re written so freaking well. They’re on audible and I’ve listened to them all over and over again. Karen Travis is the goat! She orchestrated the whole series between the books and games so everything is seamless.
The story of these games is soooo good and sooo compelling
Gears of War has a particular bit of nostalgia for me, it was when the xbox 360 first came out and I hadn't really gotten into gaming yet but I found it so fun to play with my brother and later with my friend in gears of war 3 when we were finally allowed to have sleep overs
I found gears of war to have one of the more human and sensitive depictions of the effects of war. Yes, it is a shooter and has its typical video game aspects, but the characters are phenomenal and their journey through war and loss is portrayed wonderfully, with sensitivity and thoughtfulness. I do think this is the best game series. I’ve played on the Xbox, and I say that as one who has thoroughly enjoyed Halo as well.
I just replayed them recently on my xbox series S. Amazing games ahead of their time. They are inspiration for modern third person shooters with the cover system. Expecially mass effect is highly inspired from them.
Rocky look like a bros and dude movie series. When it will leave you in tears.
Gears looks like a dumb eun and shoot. When it will tear out your heart just to ask you to put it back in and keep fighting.

The original Gears trilogy is such a special series of games that I hold near and dear to my heart and I love seeing the amount of people becoming interested in the franchise again. I HIGHLY recommend you play it for the channel because it is a crazy ride for sure

Theres also a trailer for Gears 1. You missed that one but it also serves as an intro for the first Gears if you remain on the title screen for like a minute or more if you're planning on playing this.

Gears 2 was the first video game that made me cry.
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is a remaster of the first Gears of War. Play that and then Gears of War 2 & 3. There's also a spin-off prequel called Judgement, and Gears 4 and 5 which are made by a different studio. The recently announced game was Gears of War E-Day, another prequel.
It's pretty wild in a sense that Microsoft had not one but two "last legs lf humanitg V. aliens" franchises and both of them has weirdly compelling worlds built under their dumb 2000s shooter surfaces.
Gears is the less timeless of the two but there's something charming about it's 2000s grimdark excess.

Oh, you will adore it…
The Gears series is very violent and brutal with a heavy focus on its kinetic gameplay. The first game is very gameplay focused over the story, which still had its moments. It was made to help Xbox get off the ground back in the day and rapidly grew to become a massive franchise later on. The second and third games are much more focused on the story while retaining the brutal identity of the first, alongside the iconic marketing.
Similar to Halo, after the main entries to the series it was passed from the original creators to another studio, and further titles were made. The majority of fans, including myself, still hail the original trilogy as the best of the series, much like many Halo fans for their series.
BE ADVISED: THE TRAILERS FOR THE NEWER TITLES CONTAIN TONS OF SPOILERS FOR THE EARLIER TITLES. Excellent instincts to not watch them.
Many gamers grew up playing these games and have many fond memories of them. I argue that they are a MUST PLAY if you own an Xbox. The gameplay defined cover-based shooters ever since, and though it may take time to get used to, feels amazing once you master it.
I am sure many would be excited to share their experiences of this series with you through a playthrough.

This is the only series I’ve ever played where I actually cared about what happens to the characters
Gears of War is what many think of when they think dude bro gaming. And to an extent, they're right. It's blowing things up to a great soundtrack with a bunch of jacked men in power tank tops. But it's also probably the staunchest anti war game I've ever played and if you were alive for the Iraq war's early days, the messages will ring and feel similarly horrific. It's a real feels game.
Gears 3 is still my favorite gears game and then after that 5

I just finished replaying this franchise and i forgot all the emotions, its a great franchise, personally 2 was the best imo . You will be hooked imo more than halo (and thats hard to say since ive read all 30 of halos novels and games)

You will love gears of war i promise you! If you love halo you will love this, its a little more action packed and emotionally intense then halo but believe you me you will enjoy this game. 😊
For as bombastic and action packed as the trilogy is, Gears honestly has a lot of heart to it. The ads are honestly just a hint at it.

If you cried in Halo you'll absolutely bawl in the gears of war trilogy. Some of the hardest hitting scenes in gaming.

I’m replaying them for the umpteenth time. It’s my favorite Xbox franchise, and my favorite gaming universe. It’s story heartly complex, and oddly realistic. Have fun!

One of the best trilogies in gaming history
This is one of the classics. CZcams recommended you from similar suggestions, but I can say without a doubt this is a great series. It has it's own unique art style, characters, and story which really raises some questions along the way. I would start right off from the original Gears of War and go from there. The story through the series kind of expects you to have started from the beginning to understand where it's at; though I'm not sure about five and onward. Every now and then I go back to play just to experience this era of gaming, along with Halo and some others. I would say this was some of the foundation laid for the early xbox days.
So funny, i've seen the first trailer about a 1000 times, and everytime at the end of the first trailer, i still get chills. What an amazing trailer and series.

I hope you play these games with Caleb. Gears of War is a story about brotherhood, and it’s best experienced with two players. That said, playing solo also works perfectly
as someone with thousands of hours in these games you absolutely should play them

Top 5 greatest gaming trilogies of all time
Just revisted the series for the first time in over 10 years. I forgot how much I love the world and characters. Other series you should try is Metal Gear Solid and Alan Wake.
You can see how close the Halo and Gears of War trailers how they don't tell you much to anything that us happing and the only way you can get your answers is to play the game😂

@MegMage the Gears franchise is definitely worth playing. It is the other big title on Xbox along with the Halo franchise. With just as many games. 1, 2, 3, judgement including the aftermath champagne, Tactics, 4, and 5.
