Frostgrave is back folks! Season 3 is here and Karen Crone is reading to start slinging spells and capturing treasure.
We will start this season with scenario 1 from the Perilous Dark tome, Writhing Fumes. It was a tough battle, so check below for any changes that were made. Enjoy the report!

Wizard and Warband Details
Wizard- Karen Crane, the Harridan (Lvl5)
Apprentice- Llyod, her nephew.
-Class: Witch
-Spells: Brew Potion, Curse, Fog, Grenade, Steal Health, Imp, Teleport, Dispel
-Warband: Thief (2), Thug (2), Giant Frog (Ice Toad) (1), Man at Arms (1), Infantryman (1), Archer (1)
Scenario Details
-Must break down the door, DC14 (+2F for each friendly helping/nearby).
-All enemies will follow normal creature rules all game. Though Ballista II dwarves will stay closer to the door during the game.
-NO movement penalty while carrying treasure.
-END OF TURN, roll on encounter table to generate more foes.
Creatures:
Ballista II- Use KO dwarf minis (larger w/ guns). Use ballista II stats, no push back on attack.
Small Vapor Snakes- Use KO small dwarf minis. Use thug stats.
Large Vapor Snakes- Use KO small dwarf minis. Use infantryman stats.
An apprentice that actually casts well and a wizard that obliterates foes with her fists. Perfect way to start the new season.

Love love love these battle reports! And the new visual updates are nice! I've never actually played Frostgrave, but I'm getting ready to try out Stargrave. I'm sure there's a bunch of differences between the two rules wise, but I still feel like your videos are what helped get my head around the general flow of these games

Great job! I have seen this scenario on youtube a few times using the vapor snakes and they shredded everyone. Some very sad after-action reports with some calling into question Mr. McCullough's judgement in creating vapor snakes. I beat it by the skin of my teeth but I was rolling fire, more of a statistical anomaly of dice than any of my stratagems.
I was just happy to get through the game after all the changes I made! 😂

I liked the dice on the table to keep the visuals smooth. They are difficult to read this way, but with the narrative style of your presentation, I find myself more engrossed in your story than I am with my usual rules-lawyering tendency to double check rolls and rules.😂 Nice tweaks to the scenario also - made it more manageable while keeping with the spirit of the original objective.👍

I was hoping the dice rolling change would give off a more "narrative" perspective. And I'm glad my changes worked out! Just a tweak or two is more than enough in most cases.

You know a scenario is on the tough side when, even with modifications and the dice rolling largely in their favor, the Wizards barely make it out alive.

An awesome battle report, l have tried that scenario twice as written and the results were death to both warbands.
No shame in changing up the rules a bit. It is super super difficult!

@@DiceChatter I hear that. Only made it out with my wizard, apprentice, and two treasure carriers (thief and thug, ironically). One soldier permanently died and was replaced with a knight. Glad both my medium constructs made their post game death saves LMAO. Poor Punchy and Stabby were one-shot on the first round.

2nd Edition does have solo play! It is featured in the Perilous Dark book.
