- Today's ride we are taking on the famous cobbled killer climb "Shibden Wall" for the first time and possibly the last. Time to get out of my comfort zone again and see if this middle aged amateur can get to the top without putting my foot down?

Love it! My first time was this year too.. unknowingly for me, the day of the Ronde Von Calderdale. I had way fresher legs than them lot so overtook about 20 going up. Im sure all the spectators cheering helped me get the 2nd fastest time of the day :D

That climb would be deadly in the wet on those cobbles and going down would be even worse. Well done all great climb.

Good effort that Aky. I've only been up it once and I did jump on the pavement where the car goes past you near the top, not because the surface was easier but because I thought I might grind to a half and fall off and not be able to clip out. Thought i could just grab the wall if I needed to but I did manage it, just.
Imagine unclipping, there would be no way of getting going again well for me anyway. I thought no I'm capable of most climbs now it's just a matter of how long it's going to take đ€Ł

I walked down that hill a few years ago. It was brutal. Just as well Shibden Mill Inn was waiting at the bottom.

Without a doubt, I would have jumped on the side pavement from the start, would never do this climb. Hate cobbles!!! Mega effort there Aky đȘđ»đȘđ»

Thanks Dan, I had put It off for so long. Standard semi compact and 11-32 on the SL6, 11-30 on the new tarmac and winter bike.
@@BeardonaBike I put it off for years too đ I've got 11-32 (semi compact) on my winter bike but my summer bike I setup with full compact and an 11-28, I still may swap that to an 11-30 for the 25% hills. You seem to never have enough gears around here! đ€Łđ€Ł

What is the toughest climb you've done?
Hard to say because they all were tough when I started out but this year I've made significant improvements and all seem to be do-able. Winnats and Mytholm Steeps spring to mind. Park Rash was alright as was Fleet Moss.
Any recommendations?
