    So here is my 2 cents in this coin, very interesting one actually and no one can tell it except someone who has a good number of these coins, upon having this Sacajawea project there was many prototype coins produced, some with flaky hair, some with straight hair, different set of eyes, baby face and mouth, teary eyes with drops of tears, sad face, smiley one, the eagle on the reverse side. peak details are different too etc... they were all gathered from Glenna's team with Philadelphia and Denver to be destroyed after choosing the final design, these coins had the dark brown color, the greenish one you are talking about and the shiny ones too that are unique in their design, they were all struck on different metal composition as experimental coins, and were to be melted and destroyed but they happened to be bagged and circulated in Orange County’s postal dispensers that of course nobody understood the importance of them as you can never tell except if you put all of them next to each other, so that ugly looking coins are as good as the shiny ones, when you look under the magnifier you will find everyone is unique.

    Wow. In reading some of the comments, I suggest people look for the Cherrypickers Guide, Volume 2, where you will find the value of the varieties. The Speared Eagle variety is worth about $2,500 if it grades MS67, and I doubt you'll ever find one better. The Cheerios variety is worth about $3,750 in MS67, if you're lucky to get one to grade MS68, you could get $6,000.

    • @sparkyjones560
      @sparkyjones560 Před 3 lety +5

      There is no difference. Goodacre got paid in these dollars, she got them all graded and slabbed and sold them. That is what makes them special, the slab that says "Goodacre presentation". If you find one in circulation somehow there's no way to tell the difference because there is no difference.

      There is a differents . The difference is in the tail feathers . As the regular one has straight lines. The other is slanted and detailed different. That is the one that would be worth keeping in my opinion. You can see the difference if you have both. Have many regular ones that the 2024 book says they are worth $3.00. now as of May 1st 2023.

    I have every p & d ms coin from 65' to 08, that includes the Kennedy's, S. B. Anthony's & Roosevelt's in the original ms packaging and in the envelopes themselves! I have many collections but this is by far my favorite besides another collection I have that I was told not to mention, the point is I'm willing to part with it for the right price, for legal reasons I need the money otherwise it would stay in my safety deposit box for my children when I pass away, I have a 15yr old & one turning 20 Saturday, they've already lost their mother leaving me widowed and my boys without a mother and all I have to leave them are my coin collections! That being said, I will also throw in a rare 1935 wheat penny, heck i'll even throw in my wheat 1942 & 1944, but i'm sorry to say I cannot part with my 1943 which my wife went through a great deal and many yrs of haggling to get! Bidding starts at $50,000, trust me when I say that you will get your money's worth, and I cannot let my boys find out I'm doing this cause I told them I already paid for my treatment, I will post pictures by tonight, ty for your patience!

      And what about those pre-boomers and early boomers who grew up between 1932 and 1964. Would if you had the foresight to collect all that silver coinage in a big jar. What a fortune you'd have.

      There is no difference. On the slab at the end shows "type 1" this is the original sacred dollar design.
      "Type 2" is the Native American dollar designs.
      Literally it's the same coin from change, just the designer, Goodacre, got her payment from the mint in 5000 sac dollars which she sent for grading and slab bing and sold for more. If someone cracked one out of a slab it would be just another $1.00 coin.

    I had a jar full of dollar coins that took to the bank Friday. I know I had several that looked like this. What makes this stand out? The P? I remember some looked like this so I checked the date. I didnt think they had any value since they were 2000 and not very old. I may have to try to get some back. I'm not a collector. I just happened to see this coin and that image was still fresh on my mind.

    The Goodacre coin IS different. It was quick and you may have missed it. The presentation coins are minted on different planchets. Regular coins are satin finish. And the Goodacre presentation coins are minted on shiny planchets. Now go look at your coins again.

      Also the reason its so popular and worth alot is because in 2000, the new generation has started.Also as a token they made the 2000 P gold coins out of 22k gold and nobody knew. That's why its worth alot and the value goes up everyday which means in 10 years it can be worth $ 1 million. I'll take $ 500,000 lol

    The official red book say's that the presented finish is worth about $450.00 and the tall feathers is worth about $2,500 MS-65. Maybe at auction you someone was thinking long term but as of 2016 not worth more then mentioned. What may be worth that kind of money is a dollar with a quarter state coin strike on the back, an error coin.

      if you do some research(i did after freaking out) for it to be worth that much money the tail feathers have to have strange lines on the tail that is referred to as the cheerio edition, then there is ones where on the eagle body and part of the wing has a short line through it and that is referred to as the wounded edition. after that there is the presentation one which i cant figure out what that means.

    • @hihi-jo8cx

    have to be carefull with these coins! they were notorious at the mint for spotting and all kinds of rinse problems! the mint experimented with several different kinds rinse before they got it right...but some of the experimental rinse coins got out of the mint....this is well documented, look it up...these coins are worth over 125,000$ thwy coins can appear to have like a chocholate color rinse on them😎
