- Riverdale 5x06 "Back to School" Season 5 Episode 6 Sneak Peek - BULLDOG PRIDE - Archie (KJ Apa), Betty (Lili Reinhart), Veronica (Camila Mendes) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) prepare for their first day as Riverdale High’s newest teachers. Veronica introduces her husband Chad (guest star Chris Mason) to the group after he shows up unexpectedly in Riverdale. After realizing they are out of funds, Archie and Toni (Vanessa Morgan) turn to Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) for help restarting the football and cheer teams. I love Archie being happy for Veronica and finally moving on. He is in a good place with himself & others. Him & Betty are also great together. It really seems like a new chapter and refreshing start to Riverdale.

I don't know with a lot of people hates him... I mean, maybe he's not like the perfect husband, but all marriages have problems, they are not perfect, and well, Chad "protects" her too much maybe, but so far he seems like a good boy and he loves her. Well KJ has never claimed to be a good singer. In fact, he didn‘t feel comfortable when they made him sing. He had to get over that when he did „I still believe“ but he also had vocal trainers for that.

this reminds me of OTH when Lucas and Brooke became good friends after the time skips and many high school hookups/breakups and drama. I like that since tbh, they are a high school couple to me. It never felt like they would last past high school and it felt like that in the comics too. To see that history turn into a solid friendship is cute to see.

I know they've sort of set up Chad to be a bit of an antagonist, but I hope his arc in this story is that he learns to accept that she's an equal and that he will support her in anything she wants to do without maligning her. She did say he's a nice guy under the bravado and I hope that their marriage is treated more like a normal marriage with problems than one that is hellish and Veronica needs to get out of. It's evident they love each other deeply. I think the actors have excellent chemistry and Riverdale could use some grounded, humanized relationship stories. I don't want to see him become like her dad, but change for the better.

This whole scene is vomit-inducing. Veronica is being abused and she doesn't even know it. Chad is controlling and needs to go. A lot of people who have toxic parents end up marrying people exactly like them because they don't think they deserve better. She needs to break the cycle and break free. Both Chad and Hiram need to go.

The cast has pretty good singers, even despite the sometimes heavy auto tune, but I really don't think they need to sing nearly every episode. It kind of gets old and depending on the song it's a lot of the time really cringy. Despite that I have really high hopes for season 5, it reminds me a lot of season 1.
