This brings back memories of me neighbor’s place 35 years ago. He was an excavating contractor from the 20s until he was to old to do it anymore. I wish I could have videotaped it before it all disappeared. I wish I could have come up with the half million to purchase the 240 acre property, but I did have the opportunity to get much old equipment from the place before the new owner took possession. Fortunately between me and other purchasers most all the collectible items were removed before the scrapper came in. As a teenager he would take me around the property and tell me stories of times gone by. When he got old he had Alzheimer’s. He would tell me stories of things he had done and I knew they were true because he told me the same stories 30 years earlier.
If I had the money I'd buy the whole place, land included, put up a large pole barn and live out the rest of my days sorting, selling and playing.

Just think what an experience it would have been...if one could've spent about a month or so with that old gentleman. Just listening to the stories, and sharing all the memories with him. I'm sure he had plenty to tell if someone was interested and had time to listen.
I liked the sunliner convertible
All the good stuff is even got some deterioration but a man with good eyes can fix in a heartbeat. My favorite car was the 57 ford fairlane two door hardtop. I must of had at least a half dozen that were sweet and many more that were parts only.... my biggest mistake was the 56 ford wagon, a two door with all the chrome ever put on one car... a ford version of the chevy car that evades my memory but nomad comes to mind. It had all the strips on the outside and insides with deep carpet. I had one that was clean as they come in and around 1960 or so and the carpet was messed up on the tailgate. Fixable easy but it was forest green and I hated the color so got rid of it. I guess from rumors that it was like one of maybe a dozen made and would comand its own price now. Had the 272 with a three speed and overdrive, clear backside odometer gauge and dual exhaust. Its not that I liked the car so much as how rare it was. I had all the tri five fords 55 through 59 and their differences were great to me but the crowd seen ford on the hood and went uck so it was never to be. I got to drive a new 61 hardtop sunliner with the green glass on half of the roof, 406... four speed and dual exhaust. I took this young lady out and her dad said, take this car and be good to my daughter. I paid too much attention to that car and not enough to her which was a horrible mistake on my part... I never knew about old money in those days... just that I worked hard for what I had. I had the 64 with 390 and four speed, and all the trimmings. I do miss that one as I drove it over two hundred thousand miles... would of put a million on it but some people bought it from my folks while I was in nam. I did get into the old early fifties chevy trucks for a while going back as far as 36 and went to a sixty model. All drove and were good rigs ........ those were the days

Thank you so much for a great video, and especially for taking the time to focus ( even for a few seconds like you did ) on all the small things hanging up and lying around. The cars & trucks struck my fancy alot but the other things were equally important.
It truly is amazing the volume of items that are here. Since this video, the vehicles have been pulled out of the woods and the sheds, exposing more items in the sheds that were not visible before. We discovered a vintage motorcycle, and got in the carriage barn and the house. More time capsule items were discovered inside those buildings. I have shot another video at the property that will be posted soon!

I remember those Renault Dauphines. My neighbor had one about 1959. They were cheap and they would even run for about two years before they were scrapped.

I always think of how someone went into a dealership, haggled a deal. Drove his/her new car home showed it off, took the family for a ride..
Now here they sit forgotten about..
OMG .. would have loved to know about this place when dad (R.I.P.) restored antique and built custom cars .. when your missing something even if it's really rusty.. it gives you a template to go by to build a replacement.

every time I see a video like this it reminds me of a junkyard between Hattiesburg and Biloxi Miss. just about everything had wood wheels and in poor condition even in 1968.
It is amazing that car manufacturers build the most useless parts out of stainless steel (hubcaps what a waste) everything else rots away and the garbage stays shiny
I love kicking around old junkyards. Not many left and most working junkyards only keep inventory for a short time anymore. I'm a sucker for trucks, I'd vote for the model TT.
That 1950 ford ( inside the building ) would be a great one to restore ! That Renault was surprisingly in good shape for being outside .
Being a European car over half a century old, I'm sure it will have it's share of rust underneath
Whoever buys your Renault Dauphine, I have a original Owners Manual dated 1960 :)
THis Renault "Dauphine" (Back motor) is a quite rare car even in France.... And she is in a good conditions. Rare car :-D
BtW, This last Forst A coupe would be a good base of project.... Nice Hot Rod ;D

Love to see an update on this place after it has been auctioned all the stuff off it would be cool to see what it’s like when it’s all cleaned up to kind of see a before and after type deal. Most likely a lot of these vehicles in the trees were for Parts to keep the ones running that they were driving What’s likely a lot of the ones inside the sheds that are more complete and not pulling apart are probably the ones that had ran at one time except for a select few that are out in the trees that probably ran at one time like that Renault was probably driven and could have been bought brand new.

it would buy the whole place house and land and everything on it - get the metal detector out and find all the parts to everything - then sell a couple things to pay for it all - with tractor can even farm
If I had the $ € £ I would restore all of them to factory original state, then sell or rent them. But I would keep only one of the classic pickup trucks. In my country we never had them available.

Hi, I'm from Brazil, and watching this video, I would like to know, how does someone leave so much car and you are relating to take it away, renovation or will sell in the state it is in because there is a lot of good stuff
these kind of hordes absolutely infuriate me
why the hell would any one buy up all that stuff and keep others from having it and then on top of all that the owner couldnt be bothered to store that stuff in a way so that the weather wouldnt ruin it honestly every bit of that couldve been worth a quarter million dollars or more

@@geraldodaniels9866 This was the first video of his I watched, later it became obvious the location the Auction bill is for Douglass KS, the Renault came from Don Schmidt the Dodge Dealer in Wichita for many years, an old KAN plate was @13:53 and a more modern Butler county tag in the collection @14:22

I would buy one these places and part it out to motor heads for bottom dollar who will be restoring to stock or modified
It has all been sold and disbursed to collectors all over the midwest! I am happy to report that very little went to scrap.
I'd love to get in there and fill my wish list or my want it lists.

Lots of hot rod material there. A few parts cars that would contribute to keep something else on the road. There are always more cars then people to bring them back.

Yes, and they had a long flexible exhaust tube that ran out of the room, with a little cast iron muffler on the end. Most houses had separate wash houses, rather than laundry rooms in the house.

I enjoy coming across places like this too but remember they are owned by someone ,and you are trespassing unless you have permission.
We were invited here by the auctioneer. Abandoned refers to the condition of the property and is purely a searchable term; it definitely does not mean that no one owns it.
Be nice if the "investigator" (snooper) had a better education in classic cars/trucks. Appreciate the video though. Lots of possibilities there!
My whole life I have deliberately avoided prewar Fords... But this place found me!
The mystery box at the end. It is not uncommon to find a box of dynamite at those old farms. Old timers used dynamite to blow out tree stumps when they cleared their land.

'67 Chevy pickup near end looks a lot like '49 and newer Studebaker pickups that a lot of folks made fun of looks.Took GM almost twenty years to copy and think they came up with something new. Studes had some"Better Ideas" in their day that were copied later.
I had not ever thought of that, but now that you mention it I do see the resemblance!
The deceased looks to have been a metal collector, only tangentially into cars. He certainly didn't respect them or plan to fix any up. The sheer number of saws, other metal tools, and misc. metal everything tell me he was "...waitin' fer the price o' scrap to hit the top" before calling in a bulk hauler, but that never happened. There's a lot here, but I'm not sure if there's enough of any one thing/category to draw more than locals -- esp. to the Middle of Nowhere, KS. The family is gonna be plumb disappointed.

i would keep alot of it first reorganize the whole farm cut alot of trees the multiple garages i would clean out the ones falling fix to put the good surviveing cars in those hubcaps especially the indian ones arfe worth alot after you reorganize some get a website little by little sell most of it you would be suprised before you sell any of model a and prewar cars price emthen sell themm dont sell yoursel short because you will eventually get your money back thats what i would do

The Plymouth in the barn is a 49
Both of the cars shown here are 1950 model year. The 49 looks very close, but they had ribbed bumpers, a slightly different grille, and upright standing tail lights

The cars, trucks and cycles were a little under $50,000 total. Parts, maybe another $20,000. Property (4 acres) was around $70,000

Mr Goodrich those 20 handsaws hanging in front of the radiator on the thumbnail picture need solvo rust. Or that pink jelly that removes rust. Not good in present condition.
EvapoRust is $18 a gallon, enough to treat maybe 12 old saws, which can themselves be had for $3 each. Not economical to save them when you consider your time to do the job. Much of the stuff in this video, incld. the cars, is of that nature.

Probably wasn't abended year ago , some poor individual died , no family is willing to step up take care of his collection, instead let it go to make a buck... Every time i see video like this, hope this isn't what my family does to my small collection of Stuff, mean small, oh well hope you do something nice with all that a banded treasures.

So, if all this stuff is "abandoned" then you could just take it, right? Because, according to the Cambridge Dictionary "abandoned" is defined as, "an abandoned place or vehicle is no longer being used or cared for because its owner does not want it any more." So, if no one's using it you can take it. If you see a boat in someone's yard that hasn't been used in a few years, you can assume the owner doesn't want it and just take it. "Abandoned" is the new woke word for young people.
Not really... I have never, and will not, venture onto a place unless I am invited by the owner and they are there too. I get so many legitimate offers from people to come to places like this, it would not even ever be necessary to go where I don't belong. In this case, the auctioneer had us out to help identify things for the auction. All of these will be offered for bid at auction. As far as semantics are concerned, "abandoned" is purely a keyword, a searchable term. While not exactly perfect, it just happens to be the most commonly used/searched one for this genre.
