    That older woman’s reasons for dissuading parents from using the sock only serves to put the parental power back in the hands of the medical establishment. What a shill.

      I had it back in 2016, not sure if it has changed, but… other devices just monitor and you have to be constantly monitoring and etc. this sock came with a base station that would ring sooo loud and flash red lights to fully wake me up when my son’s heart rate dropped significantly. As if it would do the monitoring for me and not just monitor but NOTIFY. He had 3 open heart surgeries.

    "It's not good at stopping SIDS", like just waking up and finding your baby dead does???

    • @AccidentallyOnPurpose
      @AccidentallyOnPurpose Před 2 lety +5

      @@BG-bx4ey Deaths have happened even with no evidence or possibility of suffocation. I'm sure a lot of SIDS cases are a result of some form of accidental suffocation, but any undetermined cause of death is labeled as SIDS. I think the cases all have multiple different causes, and it's been shown to happen even if you do everything right as a parent. It's sad, and you're right. Devices like this should be made specifically for SIDS prevention, accidental suffocation or otherwise. The fda is fucked up.

      @@AccidentallyOnPurpose I would research more what SIDS is. When a baby stops breathing for no reason, not due to suffocation, that’s SIDS. The owlet product is a great product to catch SIDS and receive medical attention.

      @@nahjaealcorn7011 I said that a lot of cases of suffocation have probably been misdiagnosed as SIDS. I know what SIDS is, but in the absence of any clues as to how the baby died it is usually just put down as SIDS. Very common. There are lots of theories on the medical cause of SIDS, from genetic to poor muscle tone to brain to body communication issues.

    I dont know if they even seeked medical advice before making these things. The oxygen monitor on these socks DO NOT monitor the baby’s oxygen in real time. Instead, it averages the oxygen level of 10 minutes. Only after it dips down to 80% does it alarm you (80% is not a passing score when it comes to oxygen. staying at 90% consistently in a healthy person already raises some questions why it’s not higher) That is not very helpful if you want to know what is going on with your baby right away. 10 minutes can be crucial!

      You are taking about the Dream Sock, the new sock that is FDA approved.
      This news segment is from 2021 which discussed the old Owlet Sleep Sock. That device did actually monitor blood oxygen in real time. This was removed in order to get the product back on the market.
