It's really interesting the difference in quality between the drone shots on the big screen at the event vs the same identical drone shots here on the YT broadcast. I think there's a bitrate bottleneck somewhere in the system

I've not really been a fan of the tubing design of these prototyping bikes using that Atherton-esque design. I know catastrophic failures are flukey but I didn't like that one. I feel like the HT snapped before the fork even fully compressed. More so the second the front wheel touched the ground. Almost like it didn't resist at all. And, for clarity, we saw other riders make more or less that same 50/50 case... And ride out of it. So. I dunno I hate that. Hope BK is okay and ready to go for round 1 wc
Be interesting to see where exactly it snapped, where the carbon meets the metal head tube, or the metal head tube itself, I'm picking where the carbon meets the head tube.
@@benjy288Absolutely. Don't wanna jump to assumptions but it seems like a classic strong component attached to a stiff but fragile component issue and there's no gradient or reinforcement (or weld like alloy) to reduce failure or at least make it less catastrophic. Sometimes a bike or fork breaks 'slowly' and it reduces the 'whip' of the fall. this bike didnt even try, looked like cardboard.
@@TeddyParkerI wonder how much riding this frame has done ? Most likely the same frame from Tas Hardline , where BK landed the container gap hard before they modified the landing for the race. He bent the pedals on that landing.
@@Tony_PFor sure. Considering the construction. These frames shouldn't be seeing another event after a hardline or after an entire wc season, etc. Or at least they should replace the carbon if they can reuse the lugs. New carbon, new epoxy/glue/adhesive.

part reason why pivot signed bk up was that he has a nack for breaking bikes in the most unusal ways..
pivot will build a v.2.0 once theyve sussed out what happened.

v exciting track and the image quality/angles were great. excellent riding, the 'youngsters' were something else, incredible performance levels.
i'd enjoy a bit more background on the athletes, hardware used and especially their techniques, like mr Eliot is noticing line choices, braking segments, weight balance, etc... explain to the ppl what's going on w/ the rider, the bike, the track...

Probably most frame will break very similar if landed the same way or length BK jump.
