Thanks you answered a lot of what i was wondering about. I have the Mini 3 Pro also so trying to decide if this is worth adding to have some fun with.

Excellent video as before - after I subbed - I checked out your video list - you have lots of great gear there - the X1 - DJI mic - go pro - 8bitdo controller - and you know your editing chops - you are very close to being over the top - I’d recommend maybe doing a behind the scene look at an edit session - you are a great editor and need to share -

Where did you purchase that little controller for manual mode please? And how much? Also what do you recommend for a portable mic that connects to your phone? Please.

Hi there! Thanks so much for your questions, and for your sub! 👍 Very much appreciated and welcome to the community.
This controller I got from AliExpress but recently it's no longer available, but was about $35. However, I have now found a better controller instead which is available and also for half the price: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CDG5HCCH around $20
It's the 8BitDo Micro. But only this one, as this is the only one that can be programmed. You'll need to do a bit of config with button mappings to get it to work though so is not "plug and play". I'm going to do a video very soon, in the couple of weeks, about this new controller and walkthrough of how to map the buttons to fly it like a DJI drone controller. So I'll reply again when that video is ready.
As for a portable mic - how portable is portable? 😀 A good quality Lav mic is the most portable option but requires a wire to the phone. So if that's not ideal, then the next option is either a shotgun mic like the Sennheiser MKE 200 (small and light), or a wireless mic. The DJI Mic 2 can now be bought individually for around £85 which will connect via Bluetooth to the phone -see czcams.com/video/W0aUqcVOwFQ/video.html It will also record directly to the mic onboard storage as a backup so don't even need to connect it to the phone.
A cheaper option is something like Hollyland Lark M1 (needs a bracket and small 3.5mm wire) or HollyLand Lark C1 which will plug directly into the phone Lightning or USB-C port. That mic is very small and light and great quality (I have it and use it).
Other more expensive options is the DJI Mic 1 (a classic) and plugs into the port of the phone.
Hope this helps! Ask more questions if you need to, and I'll always try to help. I could do a video showing some mic options and their quality if that helps too. Best, Tim

Great informative video! 😊 I have one more question: How will it perform in steep and cliffy terrain? I may want to use it along the South West Coast Path in the UK. But there are steep flights of stairs and also walking on cliff edges high above/beside the sea. Will it manage to read the terrain properly where the altitudes vary steeply up- and downhill and follow me there? Thank you😊

Hi there! Thanks for the comment and feedback, glad it could help, and great question!
In this video here: czcams.com/video/ujKyR8EmtWc/video.html I used it in Crete in a similar very steep path between rocks and it managed to navigate between the rocks without issue (to my relief). It does have a uncanny way of navigating through objects, though it's not guaranteed. It should follow you up and down slopes on stairs and paths okay as it will read the incline. To be extra safe though, I would recommend first that you set the parameter to High and Far on the Follow mode first to see how it handles that scenario, and then when more confident, set it to Med). I'd be very careful at using it on Low / Close unless the distance betwen the rocks is quite large.
Be very careful near to cliff edges, especially with wind. If it goes over a cliff edge, it will drop down the cliff for sure looking for the ground - I'd keep it a good distance (at least 15m) from the cliff edge to be safe.

@@4T-Tech Thank you for taking the time and answering my questions so thoroughly. And the video is informative. I reallly appreciate it. I will rarely need the near distance mode, as I normally use a GoPro on a stick or a head mount, and wish to supply the videos with some shots from more afar. I will see when the price is right to buy it here in Norway. Tax and VAT are added to the price so it is quite expensive. Or I can perhaps buy it when I am in the UK. I'd really like to have one. Subscribed 🙂

question: can this distinguish me among other people? let say I am in a race and sometimes some people pass me or I pass them, can it tell it? or it will follow first come first served principle mainly or fails?

    • @4T-Tech
      @4T-Tech Před 2 měsíci

Hi - to be honest I don't know how it will perform with loads of people. If you train it on yourself, it should pick you out but if there is number of people close to you, it may lose you. I've only tested it with one other person and it follows me, not other person (but we were not racing). It would be interesting to see how it behaves in a race

It'll probably float being plastic and light, but it's not waterproof so probably will be a dead duck afterwards though. It doesn't like water at all, please keep it above firm ground and it'll be much happier!

Hi, thanks for the comment. Great question which I didn't put in the video. In the Hover app, there is the ability to record voice (need to toggle it on) - this is clever in that it will cut out the sound of the drone in the background (as the app knows the sound of the drone, so cancels it out) - this then isolates the voice. You'll need to record in the actual app though for this to work, not in any other app. I would suggest connecting an external mic to the phone though like a lav mic or wireless mic rather than holding the phone to the mouth as the mics on the phone aren't going to be great.
If you'd like, I can do a video demonstrating this feature on the hover app?

@@adied7725Hi Adie - I've recently recorded a video about the audio with the app, but not yet edited or uploaded. Thanks for the nudge, I'll get that sorted out asap.
The little magnets I got from Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0CL9SYBJW but not necessarily these, as others are suitable as long as they are no more than 18mm diameter so not wider than the clip. I'd go for some a bit stronger if possible, as I found these magnets a little weak. Look for fridge magnets and there should be different options.

    • @4T-Tech

Hi - I would definitely not recommend trying this as it's max altitude is 15m from the ground. So a very high cliff, it will probably drop altitude till it get's to 15m above the ground. A small cliff < 15m might be okay. But unless you are feeling daring, I probably wouldn't try it. 😀
