You mentioned that the singer plays an instrument with his voice! In our music whoever can do this is recognized as powerful or highly skilled singer! By the way in Persian, what he does with his voice is called "Chah Chah" or "Tahrir" and that produces an extremely pleasant sound.

This is actually persian classic music . And after are philosophical texts or poems from 800 years ago with deep meaning hard to translate .the style of singing calls Tahrir , which has a quite long history . The original idea was to use the voice ...Iran's classical art music is vocal based , and the vocalist plays a crucial role,as he or she decides what mood to express and which dastgah relates to that mood . In many cases , the vocalist is also responsible for choosing the lyrics . If the performance requires a singer, the singer is accompanied by at least one wind or string instrument, and at least of type of percussion . They they believe back then Tahrir was created by observing how birds sing ... homayoon shajarian is the son of grand Master of persian Tahrir ,Mohamadreza shajarian ,who died few month ago ....often singer learns years by being student of a master ( the relation between the master and student is based on respect and being humble)
    But
I do not know why you did not show reaction to the live concert of Iranian singers?
If you react to concerts, you will feel much better and you will definitely have a unique reaction.

We can say he is a genius vocalist.

The fact is that Shajarian family are the best, and no one can describe them truly. This song is a masterpiece between Iranian songs. Don't worry about meaning, since this song comes from traditional literature in Iran and it is romantic, it is challenging to know entire song and its content even for most of Iranian people. You chose rich and heavy song, with heavy meaning, and legend singer who is in the legend family of music called Shajarian familiy.

But this is Iranian traditional music developed completely independently in ancient Persia, and it influenced it's surrounding nations greatly, and it's not a middle eastern thing, Middle East is not a country with one people and one culture, and religion. This type of music is unique to Iran, and not middle east
Just a heads up Matt, Iranians hate to be associated with Arabs, it's like the worst thing you could tell them 😂

As a Persian speaker, I can say we truly love him. He is a kind and role-model singer in our country. But if you like this kind of song you should listen to his father's voice. It's a truly incredible strong voice. For us, his father's voice, master Mohammad Reza Shajarian, is a piece of the heaven voice. I suggest you listen to his voice and enjoy it.
Also, you told. "I heard some familiar words in his song," yes our languages Persian, Italian, English, and other languages in Europe have the same ancestor that is named, "Indo-European" language. Albeit, the Arabic language is not in this category.

The technique is called Tahrir or Tahreer in Persian music which is a mimicry of the singing of nightingales. The poems are by Rumi from 800 years ago and still clearly understandable by today's Persians. The fact that we can understand the poems from 1000 years ago is a miracle of the Persian language.

Awesome, thank you. 5:00 all in one breath as you can see it here in CZcams::: ("همایون شجریان. با من صنما. کنسرت واشینگتن دی سی. ۲") Shajarian, and his late father, have both been Persia/Iran national treasures.

BTW::: Inside Iran, he is known as Molana; Outside Iran, he is known as Rumi (Pronounced Roomy), meaning resident of Rome, because he had moved from Persia to Constantinople, after it was captured by the Ottomans. So, Persians called people who lived in that area:: "Roomy" meaning, residing in Rome. His final base is in Ghoonieh (Konya), a town in North-East Persia, now in Turkey, where Molana's burial shrine is located, which is the site of continuous spiritual activities, by visitors coming from all around the world.

    • @kareemsalessi
      @kareemsalessi Před 2 lety

BTW::: Homayoun Shajarian also plays the Persian drum, like he does in this short clip, where he performs, together with his late father, in CZcams::: ("Great Maestro Shajarian, Tasnif: Morghe Sahar"). Nowadays, probably to prevent distraction from his voice, he leaves the instruments to others. I'd like to see your first reaction to the opening, by his late father. Here's the link: czcams.com/video/Ye6d4zXdtUc/video.html
Correction:: Molana-Shrine-city Ghoonieh (Konya), is located in the ancient North-WEST Persia, now in Turkey.

We call this "Tahrir". Let me tell you where this comes from. Iran is one of the best destinations for bird watching. There are more birds in Iran than in Europe. This sound "Tahrir" is an imitation of the sound of birds because Iranians pay a lot of attention to sound, especially birds, so much so that one of the most important features of the Persian garden, which is also registered in UNESCO, is the sound of birds and water in the garden. The nightingale is the most popular of these birds, which is why we call someone who has a good voice "bolbol" means nightingale. This has nothing to do with the Middle East and is a special feature of Iranian music

    Hi Matt,
Just to note that the sound that each of us hear from our own voice is not our real voices and what others are hearing from us!, as what we hear ourselves goes through different passages of our throat, ears and skull, (this is why no one likes their own voices! lol) while others can hear us when our voice is directly coming out of our larynges!😃
And what I hear from you is a very masculine, smooth and calming voice, and even if you turn your back and speak, before your channel, If I had not listened to you yet, I could tell this voice is from a very kind man, because I feel the kind vibes in your vocal too!😊
And about the history, we had the Great Persian Empire upto Rome!, so there you go with how everything is mixed! 😃
Anyways, as usual, a great reaction to a great vocalist as well!
Here is its music video which is an animation:
    czcams.com/video/Yoa_aTdqqjg/video.html
But I was expecting another song from this particular album which you will find absolutely amazing!, so please listen on your own even if you do not have the time to react to it.
What you just heard was the song Sanama and its great especially for foreign nationals as its the a rock version of it( you will find the traditionallive one as well but it's not complete), but to go traditional from the album and mixed with a mystical thing going on, well this is the one for ya:
    czcams.com/video/2hk88m-3lKg/video.html
    AND, a Happy new year!🥳
May you have all the goodness this life can bring for you and your family and much more!🙏

Please check out the HAVAYE ZEMZEMEHAYAT by Homayoun Shajarian. This is the type of music which brings tears to Persian listeners. see what would touch us as Persians. All your reaction videos are to great songs, but I want you to realize what would we listen when it comes to our Sad moments from Homayoun.
