Shilese doing this in only 2 years is SO impressive!
Yes it is! She's one of my faves.
Simone is awesome and she’s undefeated on floor. The girl is excellent and changed the sport for the better.
The fact that Simone Achieved This in 6 WORLDS 2013, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, and 2023!!! GOAT!!!! Also the Fact she took time off and could have been so much higher!!!! (I think part of her success was taking time off for her body and mental)
While I advocate for mental health and Simones is 100% GOAT, I do sometimes wonder what happened if Simone did competed 2021 and 2022 worlds. Would it be better? Would it be worse?
@@huangreymin6162She also didn't compete in 2017 either (having taken a year off from the 2016 Olympics).
@@huangreymin6162 I think because of COVID there wasn't a Worlds one of those years! I definitely think it would have increased with the other 3 years...(Vault, Floor, Team, and AA) Even if it wasn't Gold she would have been on the Podium. (Execution Alone she could have done a watered down routine and received a medal)
@@huangreymin6162 Opinion: If COVID did not happen - Simone would have won 5 Golds at the 2020 Olympics and retired. 2019 Simone was peaking; however, COVID threw so many athletes off their game that I don't even consider the 2020 (2021) Olympics a valid competition.
There are no World Championships in artistic gymnastics during Olympic years. The Olympics is essentially a World Championship competition with more press and hype.
Lastly, I think the breaks made Simone a better athlete.
Well but she also competes in the open code, in the 10 system she wouldn’t have won some of her medals, like the all around in 2018 or some of her floor with how many times she goes out of bounds, still she would be first place though but maybe not by such a huge margin
I know Melnikova might not be the one with the most medals, but I’m so happy that she overcame whatever was going on since 2016/2017, I honestly thought she would retire and then by 2018 she just kept on getting better and more confident ❤️❤️ truly an example!
Well done to all the 2023 outstanding atheletes.
Simone Biles is beyond the greatest gymnast of all time...
She is simply sans rival.❤
I miss seeing the Romanian gymnasts compete! They were the most elegant gymnasts ever. 😍 Seemed as though they were at least half of this list. Hopefully, one day, we can see it again. Great video, thank you!
don't count on it, their program completely collapsed while programs in other countries (Brazil, UK, etc) are flourishing.
You do not get points for elegance in gymnastics! You get marks for agility and difficulty!!! It's a sport! Get over it
Where is Nadia? The Quinn Nadia?
I love Rebeca Andrade, she's fenomenal 😍😍🥵
Felicitari tuturor ! Munca, pasiune, talent, determinare.
I love how happy Simone looks in all the more recent clips you chose
Wow Simone will never be beat, 23 gold medals is insanity
And second place has only 9 golds and 20 total medals!!
37 now in total
And she took 2 years off and came back like it was easy to her. Can you imagine if she didn’t struggle at Tokyo if she competed with more possible medals. I’m glad she is changing the way gymnastics should be looked at when it comes to safety and mental health of the gymnasts. I hope they take away the spotter penalty on vault because I have been a big fan of gymnastics through the decades and always thought that they should have spotters on vault like they do for uneven bars because it’s very dangerous then you have to block off the horse and with the landings. The timing has to be right. So many devastating injuries from that apparatus IMO.
Not only will she never be caught I doubt anyone bet even gets close
But never say never, let’s hope newer generations take the sport even further. What other jumps have we not witness yet.
There will never be another like nastia on bars. She was a master at it and did it sooooo beautifully
She was great, but Simone Biles is undeniably the G.G.O.A.T.; the greatest gymnast of all time.
She learned her style by watching videos of Chinese bars
Ye but bars is her worst event lmao. There are better...@@miaj94
The entire style was more like ballet, dancing and tumbling. The style now is pure athleticism. The girls weigh a lot more because they are muscular.
@@lisafarrell5996 I wouldn't go quite that far. There is still a lot of dance in many aspects. But you can no longer get away with MOSTLY dance. Today you have to have strength and more athletic skill too.

I can't believe Dominique Dawes was 74th, and Mary Lou Retton not even on the list??? I absolutely ADORE Simone, and am so proud of her and all that she has accomplished! Good for her also, to stand up for what was right, and taking the break to heal emotionally. She is back and better than ever! She is the GOAT in Women's Gymnastics!!❤
Wow, so many amazing moves here that I'd never seen before! The choreographic possibilities are so vast; due largely to the current scoring system and regulations, we only see a fraction of them today. I would love to see so much of this replayed in slo-mo so I could actually figure out what is going on!

That's exactly the problem and quite accurate too because they even use that as the reason they don't know but with a backhand insult of their youth as if Google isn't accessible.
The worst part is that they don't even take the time to read the title.

Okay, I'm at the beginning and already kind of blown away that there are 39 gymnasts above Melnikova. I mean... she's a dynamo! Does anyone know if she would be higher (lower???) if Olympic medals were included?
Including Olympic medals (5 points for gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze) she placed 38th with 27 points.
@@gymnasticfan9148 Interesting, thanks!
Melnikova is amazing… but very inconsistent. That’s the biggest reason she doesn’t have as many medals as some. She definitely got better over time!
This was so enjoyable to watch. How did you come up with the ranking? I thought it was by number of medals total, then I thought maybe number of golds but neither seems to be the case.
A rebeca fez tudo isso em 2 anos... Imagina so

I think that all the girls are amazing, but my personal favourite is Olga Korbut. 💗💗😙
It may have been commented, but Boguinskaya should have been listed as from 1987 to 1992, with the silver in team and bronze on beam at the 87 worlds.
Yes! Idk, I counted her medals from 1987 but put 1989 here. Maybe it’s a mistake since the older version and I didn’t notice.
I think you were the first to notice. I just watched the older video and has the same mistake czcams.com/video/9K54UoGAc84/video.htmlsi=252PshtU57TaAfuf
4:19 Rest in peace Elena Mukhina
Raducan is in this list, and stupid Olympics committee can’t return her AA medal. Do they really thrill that one medication for cold would give her all the power and execution to “cheat” in the Olympics. They should be ashamed of the vault height mistake and just return her medal. She was amazing during 1999 - 2001.
Fully agree!
💕
The dismount at 4:25 is insane.
that's why it's illegal nowadays. such a dismount = instant disqualification. people died or got disabled for life practicing it.
Rebeca Andrade from Brazil still can change this. She is young, only 3 years in competitions and still performing. Only Rebeca Andrade and Biles are still active, with Biles working for ten years and Rebeca Andrade for 3 years.
But Biles Is only 2 years older than Rebeca. Rebeca had a lot of injuries that took out her chances to compete before.
Rebeca can certainly still move up this list but she will have more competition going forward.
Rebeca has been competing on the international stage since at least 2016. Even taking out the years she couldn't compete due to injury, she's been in the game for more than 3 years. She is now finally hitting her stride, but she has been around for a while.

Nadia Comeneic, Olga Korbut???? Should be in the top ten, at least!!
Did you notice that this video is about medals at Worlds? I used real numbers. "should be in the top ten at least" why? Nadia has 4 medals at Worlds, the last place here has 7.
Nadia Comăneci achieved a historic performance. At the Montreal Olympics, at the age of 14, she achieved the first grade of 10 in the history of gymnastics. She then went on to score six more perfect 10s in the same competition. In total she won 9 Olympic medals, five of which were gold.

I don't know which parameter was used, but I missed Daiane dos Santos. She created not only 1 but 2 movements with her name, and Dos Santos 2 has only been performed by her in championships to this day.

Hope you didn’t forget Elena Muhkina!!!of course idk if she was in a WC but she was GREAT!!!!
She is here at 4:14. She only went to 1 Worlds, and still won 5 medals.
Not a fair comparison. Prior to 1978, the World Gymnastics Championships were held once every four years, but now they are held three times per quad. This means that gymnasts now have three times as many opportunities to compete for a medal compared to gymnasts from the 1960s and 1970s, including all-time legends such as Věra Čáslavská, Ludmilla Tourischeva, Olga Korbut, and Nadia Comăneci. The event was held every other year between 1979 and 2001, so even though gymnasts like Ecaterina Szabo, Svetlana Boginskaya, Shannon Miller and Oksana Chusovitina had twice as many opportunities to win a medal, they are still at a disadvantage compared to post 2001 gymnasts.
You mean from 1979 to 1991. In the 90s they had Worlds every single year, including 1992 and 1996.
The gymnasts in the 50s and 60s had much less competition tho, and the score was more subjective.
@@gymnasticfan9148 Not quiet. There was no world championships in 1990 and in 1999. Furthermore, there was no all around or team competitions at the 1992 and 1996 worlds. The current schedule (with worlds every year except on Olympic years) was adopted. in 2001.
@@gymnasticfan9148I'll have to disagree on the first point. Back then it was much more difficult to qualify for the all-around or event finals. Teams were made up of 6 gymnasts, with each gymnast having to compete on all four events during the optionals and team final. This meant that a powerhouse like the USSR could have all six of its gymnasts competing for all-around and event final spots, unlike today, when each team can only have two (and on rare occasions three) gymnasts compete for an all-around spot. Between the USSR, East Germany, and Romania, there were 18 out of 18 potential all-around finalists, making it impossible for gymnasts from non-Eastern European countries to even earn a spot in a final. At the 1974 World Championships, prior to per-country limits and before Nadia Comaneci's debut, the USSR won 14 of the possible 16 medals a country could win in women's events. The floor final consisted of just one non-USSR athlete, with the Soviets finishing in spots 1 through 5. In the balance beam final, the Soviets took the first four spots. During the 1981 World Championships in Moscow, Soviet women finished in spots 1 through 6 after qualification and team final, and went on to sweap all three medals at the AA final. At the 1972 Olympics only USSR and East Germany won any individual medals (Hungary who finished in 3rd place for team was the only other medalist that year).
@@NYAndreas The score back then was much more subjective, so the judges could be more impartial. Just compare the number of athletes competing for an all around medal in the 90s with the gymnasts in 50s and 60s, they had much, much less competition before. My point was about the 50 and 60s, you are taking about 70+

Nadia comaneci? 😮
Nadia Comaneci actually only competed at World's twice (1978 and 1979), and only won two individual medals, and four overall (two of them gold). She is notable more for having better Olympic success (9 medals, 5 gold) and for her perfect 10 performance at the 1976 Olympics. But she lacked longevity at the top of the sport relative to the others. If it were a list of best "Olympic gymnasts" she would place higher. But looking only at the World Championships, she wouldn't make the cut.
@@captainbryce1Great explanation! I was wondering that myself. Thank you
She did not win because she was actually injured. Also before 1978 WC were kept every two years not annually, so she did not have the chance to compete in so many. In 1979 in Q she was first before the injury, and then she was introduced injured on the last moment and had to imporovise routines she could do without using her injured hand and finally gave Romania its first Team World Title. Also, if you look at her count at the Europeans (which were practically equivalent to the worlds as competitiveness since no one outside of Europe was even relevant) she has 9G, 2S, 1 B. She could have had even more Euro medals in 1977 but Ceausescu ordered the Romanian team to exit the competition because how biased the jury was in favor of the Soviets.
The idea that she resisted little at the top is ridiculous. She totally dominated the time frame from 1975 to 1980 when she was active, except for the year she was depressed and she decided to compete at the very last moment (parents divorce, massive harassements from the Secret Police,, separation from coach, etc.). She started training only 2 month before the WC and she still got 3 medals (1978WC). Plus, she is until now the only person to have Gold followed by Silver at 2 consecutive olympics in AA. Simone was expected to knock down this record in Tokio but she hadn't. At Olympics she has 5G, 3S, 1B, and few know that she was actually injured in Montreal when she got the first 10, She had the capability to win gold on absolutely every apparatus. In Skien, the year before the Olympics she had 4 individual Golds (AA, BB, VT,UB,) and 1 Silver on FL and in between the 2 meets she actually scored a floor routine at 10 in a world cup, routine she could not actually do in Montreal because of injury, otherwise her medal count could have been 5 individual Olympic golds. She retired at 18 as most gymnasts did at that time.
@@amethyst2823 With all due respect, you just ran through a litany of EXCUSES for why Nadia "should be" on this list, but somehow isn't. She was injured, the Soviets were biased, the championships weren't held as often, she was tired, she decided at the last minute, her parents divorced, she got injured, she could have been there, she retired at 18, etc. etc. I'm sorry but these are all just EXCUSES! Every gymnast has personal trials and tribulations they go through and many of these same things could be said of most of the gymnasts on this list. Sometimes luck is a factor. But at the end of the day, they all made the list and she did not. Because it's the numbers that matter in history, not the excuses.
Nadia competed at the 1978 Worlds and won Balance Beam and placed second on vault. I don't like how loose people are with the word "dominate" in sports. She certainly did not dominate in 1978 - if anyone did it was Nellie Kim and Elena Mukhina! Nadia also did not dominate in 1979 because Nellie Kim won the World all-around title, and 4 individual medals that year. Nadia didn't win any individual medals outside of the European championships (which is a less prestigious event). While the European Championships may be the most prestigious outside of the FIG sponsored events, it's not an FIG event and never has been, which is why nobody ever gets moves named after them there. And they were only held every two years as well, so you can't say that Nadia would have won in 1976, 1978, or 1980 - that's just speculation. So when you say she "totally dominated" from 1975 to 1980, that's a bit of an exaggeration for several reasons.
While Simone Biles has had more opportunities to compete at World's than Nadia did, she's had ZERO opportunities to compete at European Championships. She also decided to compete well into her mid 20s, while Nadia decided to retire for various reasons. But at the end of the day, she wasn't as good post-1980 as she was pre-1980. Even if the World's had only been held every 2 years up until now, Simone would still have won 4 all-around titles, and Nadia would still have won zero. And if Simone Biles had been allowed to compete at the European Championships, she most likely would have dominated there too - but she hasn't because she's not European! I realize your comment wasn't intended to be a comparison between Nadia and Simone, but I thought it was important keep things in perspective.
Nadia was a great gymnast, and she will still widely be remembered as one of the all-time greats, despite her lack of success at world's. She can legitimately be said to have dominated between 1975-1977, with some additional success from 1978-1980. But as I said, her legacy is mostly due to her performance at the 1976 Olympics where she earned the first "perfect 10s" and most overall. She popularized the sport internationally, and many gymnasts were inspired by her accomplishment. However, she did compete in the all-around at the 1978 World Championships and 1980 Olympics and lost both times. You cannot legitimately say she "totally dominated" during that timeframe when she's losing in the all-around multiple times. From 2013-2023 Simone has NEVER lost an all-around competition in any years that she's competed. That is true dominance of the sport! When you cannot be beaten in the all-around at any level (national, international, continental, Olympics, etc) for a decade, then you are dominating.
@@captainbryce1 Excuses! You are ridiculous! Nelli Kim dominated in 1979 only after Nadia got out of competition. As long as Nadia was in the competition, she did not dominate anything! Nadia had absolutely no problem beating Mukhina at the next Europeans when she actually trained for the competition! These are facts not excuses.
I just came to see Biles! The way this list was put together is exactly why Black People *still* tell their children you have to work twice as hard to be counted.
How is the way this list is put together relevant to your final point?
@@norasmith2474 I just gave up trying to understand these type of comments
@@norasmith2474 Simone was/is my biggest inspiration for this channel. The first 5 videos of this channel were about her, most videos here are about her.
@@gymnasticfan9148 Please, you don't need to even reply to these crazy ass comments.
WTH where’s the reasoning? Kim ahead of Lilia? Lilia should be much higher given she literally won the Olympics AA and worlds
This video is only about Worlds. Both have the same amount of medals but Kim has 3 golds and Lilia 2….
Where is Dayane Dos Santos?
Ela só tem 1 medalha em mundiais
No Nadia Comaneci?!
Helena Rakoczy is from Poland no Brazil.
Foi um erro na hora da edição, o texto base foi o da Rebeca, acabei esquecendo de trocar o país.
Did you include team medals?
Yes

korbut as 29, I do not think so!!!!
It's not a personal opinion tho, it's all about medals
Maybe I missed her but where is Nadia Comaneci?
And well, no one disputes that number 1. Simone Biles will forever be number one.
Nadia hadn't too many Worlds medals (only 4), she was more successful at Olympics where she won 9.
@@gymnasticfan9148 GHEEZ!! The amount of time already you have had to say this! MY WORD! I am convinced some people just come on here looking for someone in particular without READING what the video is actually about.
@@gymnasticfan9148 oh well, thought that the fact to obtain perfect 10s could have an honorary place in the list. Thanks for the clarification! You responded respectfully to my question 🙂
@@wimflores I was thinking in maybe do a more subjective video, highlighting gymnasts who made history in gymnastics.
Simone is the best
this list is very wrong. Like Nadia Comaneci is 47 on your list where she had 5 gold olympic medals, 3 silvers and one bronze? And she also had 2 golds and 2 silvers in world championship. And you count group olympic medals sometimes and sometimes not. Also years are wrong - example Olga Korbut was competing in 1972 and also 1976 and you write 1974? same with 1994 - year where we didn't have olympics.
This video didn’t include Olympics, only World Championships. It’s in the title
The only Worlds Olga Korbut competed was 1974…
@@gymnasticfan9148 okay, my bad then, but it's strange to not include olympics when it's the most important event
@@kunegundabrunhildabrum-bru4306 I didn’t include because I will also do one including Olympics after Paris
Simone Biles is truly the greatest of all time. ❤️
The gymnasts of the 1950s may have been the best at the time, however the sport of gymnastics has changed so dramatically over the years and is 10 times more difficult than 70 years ago. Those gymnasts from the '50s can't even measure up to the contemporaries under today's standards. Why they were even included in this video is baffling. Why was there no mention of Gabby Douglas, Nadia Comaneci or Aly Raisman just to name a few?? 🤔🤔🤔
i thought the same, Nadia was so successful
They are below 40. That's why. See the pinned list above. Nadia is 47th, Aly is 59th and Gabby is 65th.

Nadia Comaneci !
Nadia Comaneci unde este ???
The audacity to compare Simone Biles to Andrade? Delulu
@@gymnasticfan9148 nao entendo alguns comentarios!
I know how difficult it is for you to give 2 black girls credit but you forgot Gabby Douglas she has won 2 Olympic golds with the team including individual gold allround, there would not be a Simone without a Gabby.
So true! And by the way, where's Aly????? Twice olympic gold medalist as captain of the best USA teams ever! First with Gaby, the fierce 5 in London, and then again in Rio with Simone as the final five in 2016...i mean.....😉
Quick to temper slow to read. These are world championships medals only. Plus look at the scoring method in the comments 😅

What a stupid comment. Simone was junior champion when gabby was competing. There very much would be a Simone with or without gabby. They’re only a year apart in age lol
