- Financial Derivatives are the main reason for oil prices going negative. In this video I have explained financial derivatives in the simplest way in a SINGLE VIDEO. In 1 video I have covered forwards, futures, options and swaps. The derivatives are a core finance concept and very important for financial management. All derivatives have been explained in english in this video. The video serves as an introduction to derivatives finance and also explores in detail the critical question: "Can oil prices go negative"? You will learn why is oil price crashing, why is oil price so low, and why is oil price negative in this video. Derivatives in finance are mainly of 4 types- options, forwards, futures, and swaps. All derivatives have been discussed in 1 video to make it simple for you. I have explained the 2 types of options- call option, and put option in this video and it is helpful for anyone working in Finance (Industry). SEBI Grade A and RBI Grade B exam aspirants will derive lots of value from this and all bank exam aspirants should watch this video. I hope you enjoy this intro to derivatives finance.

was a little complex for me but nobody would have explained this in the simplest form as you have
I m learning now better than in college
Master how did you learned all these things . Where to start .you are a genius . What a way of communicating the things . Very clear and crisp 👍
Sir, you're going places! Such descriptive videos show the effort you put in. My RBI and SEBI preparations are incomplete without your videos. Please keep posting more of these topics :)
Despite high oil storage costs , countries are like Saudi Arabia and Russia are not ready to cut their production and attempting to capture market share and like not to shut down wells as restarting will cost high..
Summary :- Global economic contraction led to the decline in consumption of oil and due to less demand storage places are filing up. With limited oil storage capacity and the obligation to take delivery nearing on the May contact ,they started to sell at a loss as they couldn't find buyers and due to lack of physical storage of oil .
I hope I'm able to keep it to the point while writing it ..
Thankyou..
Good job summing this up Nisha! Slight correction to your 1st paragraph- The OPEC countries and Russia were not cutting production because of trust issues (if 1 country cuts and other doesn't then the one who cut will lose business) & lack of global coordination due to complex geopolitics. 2nd para is fine.
@@SupriyoPanda But I haven't mentioned about trust issues...nor I mean that way ...1st paragraph is not related to this summary ... But thanks I will also keep this reason in my mind ..
@@NishaSingh-ot4vi yes add it to the summary. If they ask something like this in the interview you will need to put it in, good job on your condensation though, keep doing this and make a habit of simplifying all that you read or see, will help a lot in Descriptive and interviews.
@@SupriyoPanda ohk .... Thanks alot...for correcting me and giving such suggestions...and now I do it on daily basis .... summarising the articles .
Your explanation make this topic easy for me to understand

I remember you wrote about this in the group, I'm glad you still got value out of it despite having watched the top content on this on YT. My focus was on explaining things rather than just spewing out definitions and I'm happy that this approach was vindicated. Will surely keep your suggestions in mind and make something about all types of markets in the future. Thanks for watching!

@@SupriyoPanda Sir. Good morning. I have a doubt please help me in that.
Is fiscal stimulus "inflationary" when it is used for capital expenditure?
I read something like "when money is spent on building infrastructure which boosts the held back demand, inflation does not happen". Please tell if it is correct and how.
Thank you.
@@shanky9257 Yes, fiscal stimulus is always inflationary. The thing to remember is that when you spend on capex your outgoing funds will go into projects with a very long life cycle. You will not see returns on your investment until a few years & you have to keep spending in traches as the project will need cash to sustain itself. At the end of the life cycle your demand will be boosted and THEN it will help to reduce inflation a bit if done correctly. That's why they wrote that blanket statement. Governments always want to spend high amounts on capex & that's why we have the FRBM which caps the fiscal deficit target. That said, a slight increase of inflation can be beneficial for the country.
@@SupriyoPanda Sir even if GoI doesn't get returns till project completion, they pay people money or wages to do the job. These people with money in hand may increase aggregate demand for same supply causing inflation. Am I correct?
@@shanky9257 yes correct.
can you please explain why price of underlying is always increasing in both the graphs in ( long and short position ) , will be helpful if u could help !
