  • Writing a book in 30 days! There were a lot of ups and downs, it was a true rollercoaster of emotions and word counts. A huge adventure, and even more, a huge achievement! I WON NANOWRIMO 2021!! I vlogged my word count every day for 30 days as I wrote a book in a month and here is the final product!

    6:13 I love this. Progress is progress. Forgive yourself. It’s easy to feel like a failure during nano for not keeping up with word goals, but this is so crucial to remember, because if we give up we won’t write anything.
    I’m so sorry about your mental health.

    • @SaraLubratt
      @SaraLubratt  Před 2 lety +1

      I agree, forgiveness and being nice to yourself is the key to winning NaNo or getting any words done at all because it is so easy to get overwhelmed.
      Thankfully the issues I was having passed relatively quickly :)

    2:55 I had a similar hit to my word count. I went to Disney World mid-November and had three days with like no writing. Did well on the plane rides, though, but I just wasn’t able to maintain pace after coming back. I’m really glad you were able to mostly keep your momentum and write your book! Can’t wait until your books are published so I can read them! :)

    Something that really helped me this year, and as a recommendation for future Nano's or just writing in general, is find your regions nano group. Having people you can talk to and be accountable to and motivate as well as be motivated by is an incredible feeling. Writing is such a lonely craft so it's really nice to find people you can do that with. But if you'd ever like a writing buddy, from a stranger on the internet, I would be more than happy to be a writing buddy with you 😊
    Such an incredible feat you accomplished this November. Congratulations

I wrote a Fantasy Novel this NaNo and will definitely need another 30-50K to finish it. I hope I can write as much as you next year. I am currently a high-school student so education obviously takes up most of my time, extracurricular activities also take up my time. I write maybe 50-100 words everyday, could be because I force myself to as well as lack of motivation. But whenever that surge of motivation and creativity emerges then I might write around 100-300 words (rarely). I am proud you took days off to take care of yourself because it shows around the next writing days you've documented in this video.

    WOO! Congratulations, that is no small feat!

  • @commanderthorkilj.amundsen3426

    Of course, to write a completed first draft you must first get your butt in the chair and with some kind of story in mind, some degree of minimal outline, simply begin.
    Quiet the inner critic and realize you may be writing crap but keep going. Revision comes later.
    But most of the young authors giving advice seem caught up in this word count mentality-as if quantity is the only thing--when really it’s about getting inside your character’s head and letting the creative ponies ride, whether you write 15,000 words one day, but only 1500 the next.
    The fictive dream journey, becoming lost in story--not just typing to fill up pages.
