    I know there are policies and rules. But I think accommodating him by allowing his wheelchair onboard with a notice that if there were a emergency he wouldn't have the extra help others recieved. Make him sign a waiver relieving them of the responsibility.

    Huge fail on P&O's part. They should have allowed him to board and had him and his family sign a waiver acknowledging that he had been advised that in the event of an emergency no crew member would be available to assist him and that he would be responsible for getting himself off of the ship.

    They just should have made him fill out the form there. If I was him I would never sail with them again. He booked accessible room, they already should have a crew dedicated to service those room requirements.

    No thanks to the ship w/in a ship experience. Part of the joy of cruising for me is meeting and speaking with all the different people, especially on the Lido deck. Not interested in being separated on a cruise ship-too risky (recall Ben and David’s awful experience because of a prick in the exclusive section of a cruise ship)

    They should have let him cruise. If a passenger is injured and they require a wheelchair, one is provided and if you choose the option for mobility assistance they will assist you with your needs. This is a policy that should have a automated prompt to complete the booking process when you request a mobility room or when you check the box you have a wheelchair. It should be just as easy to provide this information information as it is easy for them to take your money.

    We just had to do that with Carnival with my Scooter. I almost ignored the paperwork, but decided to go ahead and fill it out. I would not have known it either if I had not seen a post concerning new rules and Carnival with scooters. And I sent Carnival an email inquiring about my scooter.

    They should have done more..if he had not booked an accessible room,I could maybe see the decision,,but they could have let him sign a waiver in lieu of not submitting the form..as one time allowance..

    PNO is definitely at fault. They always try to hide forms in places people would never see. The form should be part of your booking. They ask you Every other question during booking, they could have a button for that.

    We have been on MSC in the Yacht Club twice and in the main section 4 times… The Yacht Club is truly amazing… but just because we experienced the Yacht Club twice and we do have it booked again that does not stop me from booking a different experience on MSC as well as going on all cruise ships… Fun to try Yacht Club if budget allows…

    I certainly hope Amanda supports your booking. I bet she is happy! I am actually interested in this same cruise.
    I believe P&O did this wheelchair passenger wrong. They could have accepted him. It's not like they add a dedicated crew member for that cruise.

    As of now, beginning Feb 2025, the Carnival Sunshine belongs to port Norfolk, VA. The start of year-round cruising (vs seasonal) for us. We are booked for the first 3 sailings.

    P&O needs to change its policy. This person is obviously capable of dealing with his wheel chair. He is able to drive. He should have e been boarded and given the list of items P&O was unable to assist him. What if a person was injured during the cruise and required a wheel chair until they reached port? I guess P&O would figure a way to accommodate.

    Thank you for your video great as always, and that Cruz line should’ve did something for that gentleman that was not right for them to do. When he booked that handicapped room they should’ve known he was a handicap person and why do they need a crewmember for him could his family push him around But all in all it is not right what they did! So shame on them!🛳️😎⚓️😫🤷🏼‍♀️

      I book an accessible cabin because I use a scooter. It needs to fit and I need the accessible bathroom. However I am ambulatory and can walk limited distances and could get myself to my muster station and aboard a lifeboat unassisted in an emergency. This man in a wheelchair could not. He NEEDED to fill out that form so the cruise ship could be sure there would be adequate staff to aid him in an emergency. He had sailed with this line before and should have known that. At the least he should have called and spoke to someone to be sure all was in order and they were aware he was confined to a wheelchair and would be brining it on board. Anytime you have special medical circumstances you go out of your way to be sure all bases are covered. That's common sense.

    In this case this rule could've been bended in my opinion… The wife and children could've signed a waiver of some sort making them totally responsible… 😞😞

    What did Amanda say??

  • @meddyven
    @meddyven Před 18 dny

    P and O did this man, Mike, a disservice, and got bad PR. Mike was to cruise with his family. Why couldn't one of his family members take care of him.??? And in this case, why didn't a crew member, just print out a form, for him to sign? He could have accepted that the cruise line couldn't assign someone specifically to him, without the prior notice, but make an exception, so he could board. Lack of human compassion on P and O's part.

    • @hollypotter6989
      @hollypotter6989 Před 17 dny

      There is a rule that pregnant women past a certain point, close to their due date, can't sail. It's not safe. There are no medical facilities capable of caring for a premature baby on board. Should an exception be made if Mom is willing to sign a waiver? There are rules in place for a reason. We don't know if there was anyone in his group able to lift a grown man out of his chair, move him up or down between decks and onto a lifeboat...or just lift him if he fell out of his chair in rough seas. If there was no crew member on that sailing who was capable no waiver would have changed that. No, compassion has nothing to do with safety. This was a matter of safety.

  • @hollypotter6989
    @hollypotter6989 Před 17 dny

    Wait a second. He sailed with them before?? He knew he had to fill out that form. As a person who needs a scooter I called 3 or 4 times to be sure all was in order to bring my scooter on our cruise. MIKE made a mistake and like a lot of people do when they make a costly mistake, has made himself a victim. I disagree that an exception should have been made. There are reasons these rules are in place. Pregnant women past a certain point can't sail. Should an exception be made if one shows up claiming they would sign a waiver? No because its medically risky. Same for Mike. Apparently there must be adequate crew, pehaps with the ability to lift a man confined to a wheelchair, and there wasn't on this sailing. I'm sorry but this wasn't his first rodeo.
