I live in Bangalore and I am happy that Karnataka as the highest GDP per capita in big states.
All due to Wadiyars and Urs. They gave us the city. They gave us enough infra and guided us to become silicon valley.

He was looking for cool temperatures with medium sized city, which can be converted to education town. He believed cool hill station temperature is best for students. After many survey he chose Banglore, that time was small hill-station city. Rest of industries followed over the time as there were more graduates in area due to college, later in .com boom and IT offshoring Banglore lead the way.

Standard of living is very good in karnataka .
Especially in Mysore Karnataka region and Karavali region, in Bombay Karnataka it's ok but in Hyderabad Karnataka it's very bad.

Our India's gdp per capita is $2590 if we remove some states like uttar pradesh,bihar,manipur,assam,jharkhand which is poor is gdp per capita so our India's gdp will be $10,000 or more than it.
Even if you remove all Bimaru states it will not be $5,000 don’t even say $10,000. India GDP is around $3.2 trillion, removing around 400m people from these poor states would still leave 1 billion people. $3.2T/1B = $3,200.

Informative video. But Per Capita Income alone does not clearly establish whether a state or country is rich or better off. It does not address the issue of income disparity, which is measured by the Gini Index. With a combination ot PCI, Gini Index and Human Development Index, we can determine the level of development to a fairly good extent. On this count, Tamil Nadu emerges on the top followed by Kerala. Maharashtra, Haryana, Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand also make the cut.

A better indicator is per capita GDP in terms of Purchasing Power Parity (PPP). What a dollar can buy in USA is quite different from its purchasing power in India. E.g. We engage a cleaning maid who visits once in two weeks and gets paid $75 for 3 hours of house cleaning. A maid in Bengaluru comes home every day, sweeps and mops the floor, does the dirty dishes, and washes clothes for approximately $50 to $60 for entire month. So, dollar buys more services in India than in the USA. On the other hand, 3 or 4 bedroom homes in a decent suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota are going for $500,000 (Rs. 3.75 crores). In contrast, some luxury apartments (not independent homes) in Bengaluru are being sold for the same amount. So, one has to be careful in using any one indicator to explain away incomes and purchasing power.
