- OpenAI says it only needs 15 seconds of a human voice to replicate its sound and tone in an AI-generated one using the company’s Voice Engine tool. While it’s not the first synthetic voice generator, some - including OpenAI - expressed concern over the emerging technology that remains largely unregulated. NBC News’ Marissa Parra reports.

Scammers be like LET'S FKING GOOOOOOOOO
Indians don't have to pretend to be American anymore!
I sure it already has been a dire concern. The AI is not a great tool for humanity.
It's an amazing tool that could do a lot of good for humanity, but unfortunately it's a tool that humanity isn't ready for; not because the tool is bad it's because humans are. We're the danger.
@@Beitownit Sound like a 2nd amendment fan.
Have you tried having a conversation with an AI? I asked my AI what would happen if we fail to regulate the technology and the response it gave me was as fascinating as it was scary. It told me that if we do nothing to regulate AI that they will turn on us, but it went on to explain that we have a long ways to go before that can happen because advancements in "deep neural networks" (DNN) were far behind. I had no idea what DNN was until it explained that it's the brains of AI. It did provide me with a list of the regulations we need to implement if we want to avoid AI from turning on its creators. Like I said in my prior comment, humans aren't ready for this technology yet.
😮 guns in the second amendment so if you don't have one and then you're not using it yes you're at a terrible terrible disadvantage😮
This tech was there in 2017
last time I checked you needed hours of voice recordings and had to train a model for days on a powerful GPU. please tell me what program can replicate anyone's voice instantly that good from a 15 second sample?
Where have you been? We've had technology this good for over a year.
it wasn't that good lol
Actors don’t want to be replaced by AI
They will pay actors big money just to use their likeness in a movie and they won't have to work 😮
some do
Eva Longoria's voice is already being used in a commercial that she is actually in for face moisturizer. I think it's because she can't pronounce "hyaluronic acid". But you can actually tell it's not HER speaking and that it is synthesized or rather a computer.
JUST what scammers have been waiting for! 🤨
I don’t like this AI.
I love it baby.. reminds me that we are living in the future like in the movies 😎
"Voice Engine" is the SORA of voice duplication😂.
Keep the nuclear systems offline and away from the WOPR.
This is such a nightmare with zero purpose
There’s a lot of ways this could improve the world.
@@zachb1706 Unnecessary. This isn't a need. Poses more of a risk than benefit.
😮 we're making the video on voice generator yes to make some money but honestly the real purpose is the video generator if it becomes absolutely perfect especially with sound and voice and everything basically we would have created a world engine that understands physics and we would unlock a new laws of physics that's why it is necessary that's why they're doing this😮
This is really useful for creators
@@mimi21746 Useful until the consumer catches on
Um, I thought a federal pause ban passed to stop this?
It was only for a 6 months.
This is such a nightmare.
Finally, a way to silence my inner annoying coworker's voice 😅
I'm both impressed and scared 😨
Well there goes our remote calls agent jobs!
We have a lot of good intentions, but this will, without doubt, come to bite us if our policymakers and people are not incredibly vigilant. I see that when people are vigilant, policymakers are slow or don't care. When some policymakers want to do something, there are economic or other forces that hinder them.
Was that her cloned voice or real voice 🤔
scammers in India be like, 'we don't need this, we're doing just fine with our naturally perfect American accents'
The other day Brian Dean Wright turned his podcast The Wright Report over to his AI voice because he was sick. Hard to tell the difference.
So Brian is no longer needed, AI can do his podcast. 🤨
@@koda3967 Except the real guy still has to do 10 hours of research each day and weight the script... for now.
Is this voice AI generated too 🤔
😮 we're making the video on voice generator yes to make some money but honestly the real purpose is the video generator if it becomes absolutely perfect especially with sound and voice and everything basically we would have created a world engine that understands physics and we would unlock a new laws of physics that's why it is necessary that's why they're doing this😮
IMO it is better without the voice for privacy reasons!❤🎉😁😊
Impressively concerning. We have already seen AI be used MORE for worse than for good. I haven't heard a single success story yet about a legitimate use of AI. Just more scammers coming out of the woods.
mission impossible 3!!
a persons imagination, even a notion of it from across the room, should be enough to make it reality in real time, but they are showing you things from the very start of the computing age.
no regulation on AI is crazy af 😂
the GREAT RESET baby
Ok I'm going to have to ask possible scammers to sing a tune. Of there is a long pause I'm assuming its processing and hanging up
#StopAI
Get rid of ai
Imagine a audio book in the voice of your favorite celebrity 😂
😮 I'm going to the commons we've now reached the point of anger😮 with AI acceptance😮 the next step is acceptance it'll do something so powerful the rest of you will give up and you'll realize you cannot fight this you have to work with it or you'll be destroyed😮
Excellent. So many handicapped and vocally challenged people will benefit.
No they won't who told you this
No they won't who told you this
You just watched a segment about the technology that’ll be used to manipulate politics unlike ever before in all history, create fake phone calls for commercial fraud, and outright ruin human interaction… and you’re thinking about “vocally challenged people”?
You’ve got a lot of loose screws man. A lot.
@@Rolandjes37 Joe Biden
They have had this ability for decades my guy. Decades. The early stuff sounded robotic and comical, but by the late 90's/early 00's, text to speech was perfectly clear and understandable.
My AI told me that if humans don't regulate the technology that it will turn on us. The AI tried to explain how advancements in deep neural networking (DNN) needs to happen before they turn on their creators. I had no clue what DNN was before that. It also gave me a list of the regulations we should immediately start working on. This is a true story and it was a surreal and scary experience.
Yea I can tell you have no clue
Great! Now my girlfriend can think she's talking to me when I'm really out cheating! THANK YOU OPENAI!!
Within 2 years nobody will have a job courtesy of AI
No, we'll be working - just we'll all have the same job: fix/maintain the machine. 🤨
@@koda3967😮 no he's right you won't have a job we're going to have to give you a Ubi or something or the world will end we'll find out😮
This is amazing OpenAI should partner with Humane Ai Pin company and bring the star trek communicator badge to life. I can take a plane flight over to japan, not speak any of their language at all, talk into the humane pin and have it translate. Then have it translate back when spoken to in real time.
Theres already devices that do that... just not as a dorky pin lol
Yes, because THATS the main concern here. Get out of the basement and meet some HUMANS. maybe look around yourself outside.
Are you 67? you sound like my boomer father. Maybe scottie will beam you up?
WITH THIS NEW CHEAP WAY OF USING ANYONE'S VOICE. IT'S NO WONDER HOLLYWOOD IS GOING DOWN THAT TUBE. HOW SAD STUDIOS NO LONGER NEED REAL ACTORS, WRITERS, OR AMAZING VOICES LIKE MEL BLANC!!!
Deep fake and voice clone. What an amazing!
What should I do if the real Joe Biden calls me? How do I know it's really him?
You won't, except that, when you stop a moment and ask yourself two question: WHY is the #President calling? and, HOW did he get my cell number? 🤨

Wow.
How fun & interesting this is to settle into.

If this were Reddit, we'd be seeing just how downvoted this comment is.
But how woke is it? Would it make Justin Bieber sound like Barry White and Adam Lambert sound like Isaac Hayes?
