so fun wataching the figures come alive!
Thanks so much!
Very fun! I can’t wait to try this. The only figures I can draw or stick figures, but this is an improvement if I can pull it off.
It takes practice. Here is another video with an easy method to get started. czcams.com/video/iZK2tXzC_2Y/video.htmlsi=L6MaL3zTBq-cXnZC
I am learning so much from you, thank you for sharing! I loved textures and bold colours and have two backgrounds ready to try my first abstract figures piece. Fingers crossed 🤞
So nice to hear!
I love to watch you create these wonderful paintings. I am quite fascinated by your process and hope to someday add it to my own. :)
Thank you so much! Give it a try!
Hello Pat its June 2024 I would love to join your classes as I love what you do so thanking you
That’s great to hear Mary! I am planning an ongoing membership style workshop. Would that be something that would interest you or do you prefer specific classes?
You are amazing
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow….absolutely love your soul sisters. When is your next online workshop please. 💕
I won’t have a live online one again until the fall but I am preparing a replay recording from a studio workshop.
I am really struggling with leg shapes. This video has been my guide for a few weeks now and I am really happy with the progress I've made from your excellent tuition and tips, I just can't seem to make leg shapes look good. Maybe I will put the brush down and practice on paper for a while 😪
Send me a photo for feedback. Patt@pattscrivenerartist.com
Hi Patt. I watched this and did a big painting similar. I was a bit unsure about the arms and haven’t yet put them in, but now I’ve rewatched this I see they don’t all need arms! Going away for the weekend so will look forward to getting back to it. I hope all goes well with your virtual workshop. I will think of you when I am all hot and bothered in the Australian outback. 😊
Thanks Jen! I find putting arms on all of them ends up making the painting busy. Enjoy your weekend-it is turning to winter here and feels chilly!
Fascinating - looking forward to the workshop!
See you on Saturday!
Thanks Patt, I need to create some new ladies. They sell like crazy at the gallery!!
Great!
I love the fun figures! Great techniques!
Thank you! Cheers!

Just love your teaching and talent!
Thank you so much!🙏
Hi Patt, I love the Soul Sisters! I watched your videos and gave it a go. Turned out ok however I am having some trouble with making the faces more appealing. At the moment, mine are flat blobs ! It is so tempting to add eyes and noses however I am resisting that urge. Should I be adding a different tone to the skin colour? to give it some shadow perhaps? Thanks!
Yes try to have different tones and colours to round the form (face) so it doesn’t look so flat.
Hi, I like your art very much!
Want to try following your lesson. Could you please write how you mix your acrylics from the begining or you do not mix them at all with the media or water?
I use fluid acrylic paint. You could mix heavy body with some medium. Here is the first video showing the fluid paint. czcams.com/video/l0VAwB8vzmU/video.htmlsi=ncOMO6cqBIHOzL4Q
What can I say Patt ............. just wonderful - as always . I LOVE your Abstract Figures . Thank you . Kind regards - Judi - Australia 😍🤗🌻

where is the workshop?
I hold workshops in my studio in Parksville on Vancouver Island and on Zoom. I am working on an online workshop. Where are you located?
You’re lovely, generous and I would love to be in a live class with you teaching someday!!!
Oh thank you! That would be lovely! Where are you located?
@@pattscrivenerartist up in northern Minnesota
@@brennakohlhase4194 You will have to plan a vacation to the West Coast. Next best thing would be a virtual class.
Loved the video
Thanks so much Debbie! 😊
❤ ser godt ud
Thank you! 🙏
wonderful
Thank you! Cheers!
This looks so fun! Thank you for the tutorial😍
You are so welcome!
You’ve given me a great idea for how to learn this technique using the thousands of gel-printed papers I have laying around for the canvas.
@@teresamohon6189 Great idea!
A question. I just began my first colorful pull down of colors. As I worked on my faces & background I realized how tall my ladies will look. I'm out of the old rules of 'how many heads tall' for a woman or man. I love how your painting looks but worry I've made an error. Is it okay for my gals to be extra tall looking?
The rule is 7-8 heads however exaggeration is totally fine as these are more abstract in nature. I would just carry on.
I have a question about stencils. I looked at one stencil company mentioned on a different artist group. The stencils for that company are copyrighted, saying they protect the artist who created the original drawing. I guess that if used, work can't be sold? Could you recommend where we can buy stencils like you used? I love how you use them.
There are lots on Amazon. amzn.to/3FupEY2 (affiliate link) or you could check out Stencil Girl in the USA
Great thanks Patt. I Will have to look where I can buy stencils.
I am Sue the Art or craft stores will have them.
What size is the canvas you used?
This was a 20x20” gallery wrapped canvas.
Hi Patt, love your colourful ladies! I usually paint landscapes, but am definitely going to have a go at creating some "Lassies days oot" - can just see them tottering around Glasgow in their tartan finery - and probably in the rain! Such fun ☺ Thanks so much for sharing your ideas and techniques, best wishes from Scotland 💓
Have fun! Can’t wait to see the tartan and a brolly or two!
I’d love to go with you Hen!

Hello, my name is Hélène. I am from Québec. I would like to do a demo using this vidéo. I would translate in french. I painted along with you with succes 2 months a go. And i Will share your yt Channel. Do you agree to do that ? I would do the demo anytime in 2024. I just love your art !
I appreciate you asking Helene, I am fine with you sharing the technique and crediting my YT channel for the inspiration.
Just curious…you seldom paint men in your art, why? Regardless, I am learning so many aspects in painting watching you.
Good question? In my groups it seems women show up. I do have men in my jazz paintings though. Perhaps it is the preference of the form.
