It’s mostly located underneath the Manhattan Bridge, which is how it got its name. DUMBO stands for “Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass”.
Although some say it actually stands for “Down Under the Manhattan and Brooklyn Overpasses”, as part of the neighborhood is located under the Brooklyn Bridge.
Derrick will take you past some of the neighborhood's best street art and murals, architecture, and iconic views. He even takes you inside Gleason's Gym.

Everything this brother said about DUMBO is true! Born (in '73) and bred in Brooklyn and never knew what area that was back in the day. We knew it was Brooklyn, we just didn't know what part, and didn't care because we didn't go there. Nobody went there. It was bad, y'all. Lol. We didn't call it DUMBO. The first time I heard somebody call that area "DUMBO," I had to ask him "Where is that?" Now, whenever I tell somebody who grew up in Brooklyn and now live in another state about DUMBO, they ask ME "Where is that?" I'm still amazed at the changes in DUMBO, Williamsburg and the Meatpacking District. I mean, who would have thought that these neighborhoods would become the glitzy neighborhoods that they are today? This was an amazing video. The tour guide did an amazing job. I've watched several videos on this channel after discovering it a few months ago, and I enjoyed each one of them.
