  • This is my first ever video in Pop Botany! This is an informative video with a brief discussion of ethnobotany, the scientific study of using traditional knowledge of plants for medical and other purposes. The early knowledge of plant medicine gave rise to some of the important raw materials for modern pharmaceuticals, but this is also one of the practical foundations for herbalists as we know them today.

Hi, for phytochemistry, you would want to get advanced education on chemistry. There is a lot of botany programs offered in universities and colleges, but it's not necessarily oriented towards medical plants. There are a few schools out there that have herbalist programs. Do you want to study medicine for clinical practice, or for research?

@@commongarden3817 Thank you for replying! what's the difference between both? I'm more in to the research side, but you would want to practice when you research too right? and do you make more money as a researcher or practitioner?

Are you still in academia? I'd like to discuss something with you if I could get your email. Thank you.
