Short Term 12 Official Trailer #1 (2013) - Brie Larson Movie HD
A 20-something supervising staff member of a foster care facility navigates the troubled waters of that world alongside her co-worker and longtime boyfriend - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Brie Larson, Rami Malek, and LaKeith Stanfield. Talk about a "Before They Were Stars" cast. No surprise this is a GREAT film!
Chad Millar We could add Kaitlyn Dever to that list now, thanks to “Booksmart.”
True true
And we could add the director Destin Daniel Cretton for getting the Shang-chi movie
omg ikr
John Gallagher, Jr as the guy "terrible being discreet with Grace"
I spent some time at a group home when I was a teenager. This movie was very hard for me to watch, but I have to say that it's a poignant, realistic portrayal of abused and neglected youth. I'm so sad that it's not more well known -- so under appreciated. Brie Larson is a genius.
+Addy Norman My mother in law works at a place like this and it is so sad the stories she tells me about why the kids are there, and it is even sadder the stigma those kids get outside the facility. I hope you have a happy life now Addy! :)
+Freddie Grace I never really dealt with a stigma. It was just hard because when we turned 18 they plopped me and my brother out to fend for ourselves because they had no other choice. A lot of the workers were very committed like Brie Larson, and it was honestly a really safe place to be. It was heart-wrenching for them every time one of us left. I have a full and fulfilling life now, but it's important to acknowledge my background and never forget where I came from. I was happy to see a realistic portrayal of what me and my brother went through. It was a great movie. I wish more people could see it. C: BUT, I do have to say -- the overuse of shaky-cam gave me a headache. Still a good story, though. C: C:
Addy Norman The reason these kids had to deal with a Stigma is because the home is in a relatively small town and the kids have to go to public school. Because of lack of understanding of what the home is for they would get labeled and have this stigma attached to them as troubled kids, but the reality is that the kids came from troubled homes. Have you ever read "Hopes Boy"? I wished that would become a movie.
Freddie Grace Yeah, I kind of know what you mean now. A lot of people seemed to understand what the home was and therefore were a little stand-offish or uncomfortable around us because they knew that what we had to deal with was different and hard so it made them a bit uneasy. I don't know. I honestly had quite a few friends outside the home, but I'm a friendly, excitable and all around cheery person in general. My brother's kind of a loner, so it was a little harder for him. I think it all depends. I've never read "Hopes Boy". I'll check it out.
it moved me deeply
This is one of those movies that years down the line you look back and realize the cast was amazing.
what if I die? what do I do then? How will I look at thia cast??
Right?? Brie Larson, Lakeith Stanfield, Rami Malek -- all gone places now, all excellent actors who've since nailed complex roles in thoughtful, intelligent films. I'm mad I haven't heard about this movie until now.
(Then again I wasn't much into indie films back then)
@@stvltiloqvent malek won oscar and brie this film is amazing
@@stvltiloqvent Brie is now really famous and her movie Captain Marvel hit billions but many people hates her idk why and always calling her the most hated person where theres many actors who's really hateful too
marcy唯美 don’t forget Kaitlyn Dever
i love independent movies and the way they are about a situation. They aren't trying to tell a full story, they let you on an ungoing and unfinshed story and display the good and the bad. I love how simple it is but how much it effects you. This movie is wonderful!
yes!! you articulated for me what I've always liked about them, thank you
As a Behavioral Specialist and Art Teacher at a Level 5 Children's Psychiatric Hospital in Atlanta, GA... this movie took me back to two very intense years of my life. This movie kept it real. Thank you to all the wounded I loved so deeply- each one of you helped me heal.
Short Term 12 is the best example to prove why Oscars are sometimes a joke
siddharth nagar thats okay, brie finally won
You true
Lmao now some bastards judge her talent by one movie 'captain marvel'
Though she acted pretty well in that too
facts
"sometimes"
The best movie you've probably never heard of. Forget genres, this stands out on its own.

Gonna watch it today
@@annaclare852 Florida project was an absolute joke and waste of time. Do not watch.
I highly recommend this movie, Stop watching the trailer right now if you're thinking about whether or not you should watch it. It has comedy, drama and suspense and the plot is so genuine and untainted it's almost refreshing when you watch it. Was surprised how much I enjoyed this film, give it a go!
MrMarkus1921 okay.
what a fucking awesome movie. Most under rated movie of all time... last scene with the ginger kid was so awesome.
So, so true. Exactly. Pitch perfect.
+Chrono trigger how is it underrated when it has a fucking 99 on rotten tomatoes?
+DC Comics They mean underrated as in most people don't know about it and it didn't get any Oscar nominations. It may have gotten good reviews but it's not mega popular and overrated like the Hunger Games or Game of Thrones. I've never even heard of this movie until today and it came out two years ago
+DC Comics why are you commenting that on everyone
I think that was one of the best movies I've watched in a long time. Wow.
Sarah S and yet little amount of people saw it
Joseph Jenkins ikr. What a shame
Watch 'Peanut Butter and the Falcon' another amazing indy film you've never heard of..
Hi, lets talk
@@theresachampney-willis4005 Its just "Peanut butter Falcon" but I couldn't agree with you more. That movie is also filled with all the emotions and will have you laughing, crying, biting your nails, going "Awww" and everything in between. Also a great cast and the kid with down syndrome completely stole the show in that movie. He instantly stole my heart and became one of my favorite actors. Not to mention Shia LaBeouf character and the bond he had with the kid with down syndrome Zack Gottsagen was just so freaking amazing. Didn't seem like they were acting for one second and just seemed so genuine and pure. Actually made me super jealous that I didn't get to have that friendship with Zack Gottsagen. I would love to be his friend any day. Definitely one of my all time favorite movies
Budget Short Term 12: less than 1 million $
Budget Avengers AoU: 280 million $.
Money don't mean shit.
CGI
What a weird comparison to make.
Budget Short Term 12 : less than $1 million
Budget Justice League : $300 million+
Two completely different films that take completely different editing software lol
Do you know what is funny ? Now, Brie Larson play in the next Marvel movie ( Captain Marvel). Sorry for my mystakes in this language, i'm french (baguette forever).
Sammy: Can we play big and small?
Grace: Is that a real game or is that a game you just made up?
Sammy: It's a real game that I just made up.
Haha, definitely one of my fav parts from the movie. That little boy was so freaking awesome and definitely is a great actor because he sure had me going from cracking up to tearing up just like that. Great job by everyone involved for sure
This is a film which wastes no second, delving into ordinary people and their lives and showing why the little things in life make humanity shine. I truly appreciate every frame and the performance of every actor.
if you are considering watching this-please do. you will laugh, you will cry, you will appreciate what it's like to be alive. so many movies are about your teens/twenties and that's because it's the only time you feel every single emotion all at once and so strongly. short term 12 was beautifully directed and showed that those feelings are valid. what an amazing movie.
Had to repeat what you said aloud. :)
What's gobsmacking is brie Larson give such performance of so much range and nuance at just 23 years of age
This is one of the most underrated and overlooked movies of all time
I made my friend who's been through these types of homes watch it. He didn't want to because he expected the usual corny, bad feel good movie but I made him watch it and he adored it. This is so far the only film about this subject I've seen that's truly real.
wow there's Rami Malek!
GUYS I FOUND WALDO
WTF
WTF 2 years after :)
GIRL ME lol
This movie is unbeliveble... in my top 5. so underrated.
+Ivy jolie how is it underrated when it has a fucking 99 on rotten tomatoes?
+DC Comics underrated in the sense that it is not very well known. no need for the hostility bro
joltingfire5 yea i realized that. and i want hostile.
@@splashproductions9340 underrated cos the Academy completely overlooked it
It's still shocking to see that people haven't heard about this masterpiece and was shunned by the awards
Coming back to the comment section after watching the movie. Pleasee go and watch this movie. So realistic and beautifully potrayed
I'm gonna be honest, this trailer makes the movie look boring, but after reading these comments maybe I will watch it anyway.
I all depends on your taste.. It's not an action/thriller. It's a low key emotional drama, with some amazing performances. Well worth a watch if that's your thing.
The comments conveiced me to watch it and I'm thanking the internet rn cause this movie is hella good
It's great cinema not Marvel or DC so give it a short
The movie is boring
After watching brie Larson "Room" movie this is the best movie. The movie like this really need to make more this is reality for many people. I literally cried many time. Brie larson you're really good actress, you should have got oscar for this movie too
Bro I can't hear "here we go" without thinking of that scene and losing control my emotions. Goddamn this movie is underrated.
As someone who has been in mental treatment centers, this movie is surprisingly more accurate than I thought it would be, even tho it technically isn’t about mental treatment centers exactly. The only thing is, we can’t have pencils in our room, boys have their own units, and girls have their own and they separate them by age groups. The emotional feeling of expressing your feelings to a mental health technician/associate is so accurate when Grace and the girl talk it out. I envy this film because when you try to run away/do run away, even if you are off grounds, you will get tackled down and be brought back. I didn’t wanna go home when I was told I was getting discharged. I love this film
I have worked at a residential treatment center for the past two years, like the one shown in this film and it's pretty realistic. We have a level system that determines the kids/teens privileges too lol.
We frequently get spit on, poop thrown at us, urinated on, cussed at on a daily basis - some of them try to run away...
On the flip side, it's so wonderful to see these kids experience what I believe sometimes is the first pure happiness they've known coming from homes of abuse of all kinds, and neglect.
It is a shame though because the truth of it all is that many of these children and teenagers who were forced into prostitution at young ages, forced to have sex with their mothers and fathers - one young boy had his penis mutilated by his parents - end up with very severe behavioral issues and it's a vicious cycle to break for them. Many are incarcerated or worse when they leave these homes/treatment facilities.
I'm glad a movie like this came out because it certainly brings awareness to an alarming issue of abused children and teenagers that the severity of gets swept under the rug to some degree.
This movie is for all of those that survive this sort of trauma, and for those that were unable to break out of it.
Thank you for what you do. :)
:)
thank you
Thank you for what you do..May God bless you and these poor souls!
*****
Letting go of anger and blame is one of the hardest things a person can do. Getting to the point of forgiving others AND yourself is even harder. I spent most of my life hating everyone and each time I tried to make contact I got used and hurt yet again. It has taken me a long time but I have finally let go of most of it. It's like a weight lifted off of my shoulders and the work it takes to get to this point was HARD and traumatic but so worth it. Don't find yourself on your death bed alone and still angry. No matter what, each person deserves a chance to have some peace and light inside their own mind and heart and you can't achieve that when you live in darkness. Find the strength to heal, put the effort it takes to hate towards forgiveness not for their sake but for your own. No one should die alone.
David James
thanks for this comment David :) it puts things into perspective for some of our client's future and how hard it truly is to let go of their anger and past. i just wish there were healthier environments than some of these group homes. i can't imagine waking up every day there and my heart and time goes out to you all, like yourself, who have survived through it... thanks for sharing your story :)
Just finished watching it and must say It was really espectacular. Characters are developed quite well...you understand where they are coming from. The kids...you just end up loving them. And Grace, such a good actress. Goos job to the team
Nothing is more underrated in this world than this masterpiece, what a beautiful film. 5 years gone and still can't believe it's still underseen
Definitely enjoyed and cried a few tears, would recommend to anyone. Wish they told more about Marcus.
Marcus's character in this film was so real and raw in emotion. I related to his character the most.
I hope the gargantuan success of Captain Marvel, revitalize the popularity of so many of Brie Larson's work, this woman is a genius 👌
What a comment man thinking the same way over here
it is because of marvel that i completely put off Brie Larson
@@sherifmourad79 why?
@@abbyanderson2463 her portrayal of the character was a disaster for me plus the way she moves and runs appear to be of of a person that does not have a history of sports
@@sherifmourad79 I mean she was running with two heavy objects weighing her arms down. And also the writing was very bland and direction was awful. I don't get why one off performance in a comic book movie puts you off an oscar winning actress.
Cant believe the hate brie Larson is receiving. But then again, I just know her from this movie and shes great here
watch room!
I love this movie so much. Brie was perfect, camerawork was perfect, script was perfect. It made me cry and I really don't.
I forgot this was LaKeiths first movie.. he did a pretty great job. Him in Atlanta too.. one of the best parts
I just finished watching the movie and I can say that it is one of the most beautiful underrated film I've seen. It makes me like Brie Larson even more and her acting
I related so much to this movie when I was in foster care.. going back & rewatching this movie brings back all the hard memories & everything I overcame, being a child victim of SA, from my bio dad…. This movie makes me wanna be a foster parent someday, it always reminds me of the trauma I went through from my bio dad & then I was placed in a not safe environment in foster care.. so I remember watching this movie when I was 16 saying that someday I’m gonna foster or adopt all the kids that were like me & try to save them from the broken system
this movie is absolutely AMAZING!
An amazing movie, Brie Larson was so beautiful and cute. I thought that the acting was superb, would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Me too
Thanks
My sister worked at a youth home and this film perfectly matches all of the stories she told me. Everything from community meetings and 'level drops' to kids running away.
This is the most underrated film of the decade. possibly ever.
I love this movie so much! it hurts that this movie is so underrated :'(
+John Doe how is it underrated when it has a fucking 99 on rotten tomatoes?
+DC Comics that's the point. No one talks about it or has even heard of it when it's such a brilliant film
The guy that directed this just joined the MCU for Shang-Chi so I'm obligated to check it out.
Such an amazing, realistic, well done film. These indie movies are what make me love cinema
the movie is so honest and genuine. deals with all sorts of problems these poor kids face. the relationship between brie Larson and jaydon is so amazing, as they are going through the same form of pain. even Mason is such a supportive character. it's a heartwarming tale n the ending is beautiful, must watch
THIS FILM IS SO UNDERRATED IT'S INSANE. This is so freaking amazing.
this trailer nearly sums up how good this movie is. one of the best things i’ve watched, the characters are like no other and it’s realistic in the best way possible. it will make you cry probably four times and laugh a few times too. brie larson is in incredible actress kaitlyn dever too. none of the stereotypes you’d expect to see.
Lakeith Stanfield really stood out to me in this film
I think he’s really great in it
A memorable performance and presence onscreen
All the other actors are also great. 👍
I believe one day Brie Larson will win another Oscar. See this movie, Room and The Glass Castle and you'll understand what I'm talking about.
Alexandra Vlasova I agree with you, Brie absolutely nailed it in those 3, about family relationships. The Glass Castle is really meaningful. I like the song “Summer Storm” from TGC, you should listen to it
Just mercy??
Maybe for Just Mercy?
One of the finest piece of filmmaking I have ever seen , this film is a true gem and showcases various complexities and hardships of human nature in such a beautiful and subtle way , it's so sad that the movie didn't received Oscar glory coz it deserved it but not all films need that Oscar to prove their beauty and Short Term 12 is one of that gem 🙂
Stop watching the trailer, go watch the movie IMMEDIATELY.
Still is shock that she didn't got nominated for an Oscar for this film
You can tell that there was real life influence that went into this movies because the way everything is portrayed is almost spot on to what it’s like working at a place like this irl
what is the name of this song in trailer
This was a great movie
brie and rami, when my queen and king unite
Yuto K and Lin-Yuan want to know your location
Brie Larson's acting skills are unbelievable 👌
ahhh, i live such a short term 12 appreciation existence- it's just my favourite thing. hoping to take a course in social work after watching 😌 i really hope one day i can become as committed & caring a person as brie larson is in this

This movie is so warm in the end
Whenever I see this movie, it reminds me of all the great kids I worked with, I hope they all moved on to have amazing lives. I share this with people to have a better grasp of what life is like in these centers. It only makes me wish that I can do more.
Oh my god this is one of my favorite all time movies AND this was before all these people were famous AND before it was on Netflix... so happy it’s on Netflix now so that more people will actually see it
wow I am so late - Here after Brie Larson and Destin Daniel Cretton in Just Mercy - WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE
When pretty much the whole cast are now super famous actors
I saw this movie over a month ago and cannot stop thinking about it... the characters are staying with me.. want to see it again. Want to own it, to watch when I need to lift my spirits... Loved it! I want more of this sort of thing in my life! Thank you!
An amazing movie.
Truly an authentic film, and the kids are great in this.
This place actually exist it shut down like 3 years ago. It was up in Sylmar Ca. It was called Hathaway Children and Family Services we lived there those kids were us. The councilors the therapist the staff was our family. Some came in thru DCFS other DMH and others were on Probation.
this is such an amazing movie...
Omg LEGENDS IN THIS MOVIE! Rami Malek?! BRIE LARSON?! WTF! Gonna watch it now! 💯❤️
I agree! 5 years in the foster cares system and this completely captured a glimpse into this complicated world.
this movie is so amazing it got me considering a job for helping troubled youths....
Did u end up doing it?
I went watching the movie after seeing the trailer, and I thought it would be a cute little movie about people helping teenagers -- but it was SO much more than that. It was just so sincere, beautiful and poignant at the same time. Funny, too. It became one of my favorite movies.
If you start the film clip for Gangsters Paradise at the same time as this trailer, it syncs up just like Wizard of Oz and Dark Side Of The Moon.
Just finished watching it, such a beautiful film
such an incredibly realistic film
+Waldo my life is complete ...i found u
UNDERRATED MOVIE!!! BRIE WAS GREAT
Chocolate Ssalinas you should watch her other movies like Room (2015) and The Glass Castle (2017)
Anyone know any other movies similar to this? I really loved it, and am looking for other movies like it
A mix of emotions, normally I'm easily distracted while watching movie. But this movie I watched with attention and silence. Everyone has to have seen this movie!
I love movies like these. I hate movies like these. They make me cry. They make me remember things I'd rather not. They make me more sad than happy. They make my depression return. They give me something to write about. I don't know if they're a blessing or a curse.
Hello friend. Hello friend :3
All I could think of after seeing the guy from Mr. Robot is Mr. Robot
Exciting time in the world.
Yeah, I had to double check if it was really elliot alderson
where?
With out a doubt one of my favorite films!
oh John Gallagher Jr :)
The film is so goddamn genuinely perfect. It's hard. It's life. It grabs you by the throat and makes you appreciate the little things in your life and I will always recommend this movie to anyone I meet.
Well-said
The story Jayden wrote literally had me crying for like 2 hours. Broke my heart into pieces
Beautiful, so beautiful. Go watch it, you won't regret it.
Does every indie film need to have a swelling/triumphant Arcade Fire type soundtrack over a shot of someone running?
I work at a facility like this and I can’t tell you how accurate it’s portrayal is of some daily issues
I've just finished this movie, so heart wrenching *.* one of the best movies i've ever seen!
0:36 Anyone else notice that's the guy who played Snoop Dogg in Straight Outta Compton?
The best part 00:00 - 2:31 Brie larson :❥
I allways love indie films it's creative freedoom and breaking the common mold of storymaking on a film.
Only here because Destin Daniel Cretton was said to be the one directing Shang Chi's movie (MCU character). An Asian-centric movie.
Based from comments here, I'll check out the movie later.
Expect this movie to have more exposure once Shang Chi's movie is officially announced.
This was a great movie.. 10/10
Everyone. Watch it on Netflix. Now. It's so great for a non mainstream film.
Having good listeners around you is a privilege. To share , to talk..bcoz it gives you a light in darkness of loneliness. Felt to be alive...
Brie Larson was so brilliant in this film , I hate the fact that people are calling Room her breakthrough
When youth lagoon came on my heart just melted
Just saw this tonight. The best movie of the year. The plot, script, acting, etc, everything was great. Everyone should see it.
Brie Larson, lakeith stanfield and Rami Malek. No wonder I really enjoyed this movie when it first came out and why it’s still great to watch now.
Such an amazing movie
even trailer gave me goosebumps I need to watch this move
THIS MOVIE IS THE BEST REASON WHY YOU DONT NEED HIGH BUDGET TO MAKE A GOOD MOVIES!
