- This is Nick Mattinen, of the Straubing Tigers. It’s his first season in the DEL, Germany’s top professional hockey league and it’s safe to say things went pretty good for him this year. Now for the next 72 hours in the middle of his season I’ll be following him around, documenting the practices, games and every moment in between because surprise we’re actually old friends from university! So, now you can see what life is like playing in one of the top hockey leagues throughout Europe!

I just went to the most recent Eisbären v Ice Tigers match in Berlin, I support the Eisbären so was happy to see them hold the lead, but this was cool to see. Also the Ice Tiger fans had really good energy and chanted their hearts out so credit to them. But our netminder Hildebrand was immense so it was a hard match. This was a super cool video and as a DEL fan I loved to see a day in the life. Cheers!

Straubing is indded a very special small city for hockey. Justin Braun and Jon Klemm are among the most well known players ho play or played here.
I first learned about it when Luke Adam signed there, glad I finally got to come out and see it!

I will say as someone who has been in both rinks for regular season games, Straubing takes the cake! It’s a special crowd honestly!

He was drafted for the leafs? So why’s he not in the nhl?
I mean you’d have to ask Toronto for the exact reasoning but not every player who gets drafted makes it to the NHL. It’s a hard league to crack and a lot of the time it comes down to the smallest differences on whether you make it or not.

He will probably join the NHL. Thing is. He developed immensly in the past 2 years. I hope He stays for a bit longer at Straubing. But hopes are low. He said He made no decision so far.

Smallllllll note is it not worth you videoing the game in full somehow alongside your normal footage as like you never seem to catch a goal haha for those who’re here for the hockey more so
I wouldn’t really be able to do that due to rules broadcast companies have on the rights to the games.
Depends on the organization obviously but normally filming the full game and publishing that would be off the table.
Additionally, I just don’t have the personal resources to be able to do that unfortunately.

@@RobertGreeley nooo I mean like for you to have at the games to pull just the goals like recently you’ve had insane access is it not worth some form extra camera so that we get to experience these goals with you haha I didn’t mean for you to share the full games buddy I meant more so for yourself and for us the audience for you to compile as I’ve noticed like 6-7 games in a row your camera comes on when the goals been scored haha its the typical CZcams commenter buddy I’m being greedy haha I want your insight and the game highlights hahah
