Dinghy Cruising - Sailing Little Howrah Beach Tasmania in a Mirror Dinghy! A perfect Hobart day.

- The Kids Afloat crew took the Mirror Dinghy down to the beach they grew up on - Little Howrah Beach - tucked in a corner on the Eastern Shore of Hobart.
The weather really turned on a show for us - perfect sunshine and a good wind building all morning. The water was perfect and the company was wonderful.
Two families that we enjoy spending time with joined us today. One of the little guys had their first sail ever, and loved it!
There is really something about children in a wooden boat, hanging over the side and marvelling at the sparkling water, with sea life around us and other happy people on SUPs (stand up paddle boards) and kayaks, and brilliant sails of larger yachts around the harbour. Soon we will be one of the big sails when we collect Hermione of the Derwent - our new yacht!
We hope to see you out on the water one day soon,

Thanks so much! It’s a perfect amount of wind for kids building their confidence :) but it picked up later on after I turned the video off and the grown ups went for a bit of fun. That is until the tsunami currents arrived and scared everyone off the water!

You are so welcome! It was such a great morning. We had to get off the water at lunch as the currents from the Tongan tsunami were playing havoc against the wind, such a pity we didn’t get that half on camera. I think I need to mount the GoPro somewhere so I can record when I don’t have spare hands!

You’d need two people to lift it down the sea wall but it was easy :)

Hehe NEVER!!!!! Luca is a bit of a speed demon. I hope he builds his skill in the dinghies enough to get that thrill when things go really quickly. He’s so looking forward to sailing the big boat when she’s ready!
