I love it and would buy it again. The thing is, Car manufacturers are all moving toward some type of EV or H/EV and that is good. Just saw a Mitsubishi SUV yesterday that was a Hybrid/EV and had both Stanndard AND Tesla electrical charging ports. So in 4 years when it's time for me to decide on another vehicle the choice may not be as easy.
I cant wait to buy mine eco friendly car plus gas saver thats a good wait to go im tired spending 120 a week on gas on my 5.7 litter truck i really want to buy the prime its a nice car inside n out
We had a 2006 Prius for ten years and loved it! But, with the aggressive drivers, very low ground clearance, plastic panels under the car are expensive to replace if cracked from snow, no electronic AWD as offered in the RAV4 Hybrid, no sun roof, and a few other items. We had to go with the RAV4 Hybrid I-AWD. We do miss the mileage that we had with the Prius. Still, we had to be higher off the ground in Minnesota. Excellent review!
Thanks for the info & had 1 ❓ if possible how's your electric bill . A friend from work told me that the reason he didn't buy the prime was that your electric is going to jump way higher than what I'm paying right now . If you have any info I'll appreciate it and thanks for the info
I am surprised that your miles per gallon is so low. Currently I run a 2013 Prius Plugin in the UK. I have just completed a 45 mile journey , 20miles in city traffic and 25 miles on motorway at 70mph, recorded mpg 82. Average wintertime mpg is 70, summertime 100mpg. - I always run in Eco mode, but lock drive into EV mode towards end of journey so that battery is virtually depleted upon arrival. I do have charge facilities at both departure & arrival places. I agree the ground clearance at front of car is too low. I need a second car as a runabout, I was contemplating buying the new model Prius Prime, and downgrading my current 2013 model to runabout status. However I cannot abide the styling of the Prime , it is a fussy styling exercise gone totally wrong. So I have decided to retain my 2013 Prius as main car and purchase a 2018 Nissan Leaf , Acenta for use as runabout.
Youssef Cherqaoui That maybe so but the Prime has a much larger battery pack so will drive much further in electric EV mode. Sounds as though you need to drive in Eco mode more often. I never turn Eco mode off.
justin jones i did the test drive and yeah its smooth, theres 3 dif mode sports, normal and electric/eco Plus there is a self parking more. Overall i enjoyed it. There are people who doesn't like the exterior. But considering the safety, comfort, fuel economy and reliability you can never go wrong with this new prius
mark raymond Valle Prius has come a long way. Also something worth noting is that they added 500 lbs to the suspension to give it that sporty ride and handling. Doublewishbone rear end really changed the game.
I' am totaly happy with the car. Before I had a Audi A4 diesel power from 2008. It is very cool to drive electric with the prius, and I like very much the fact it produce less polution than all other cars (except 100% electric cars). So many people dies every day because air polution... but it seems that no one thinks about it, most people want spotive cars or big fat SUV Trucks... First spotive cars cost you double the price for maybe some minutes you are faster... And think about it driving faster is more risky... Than many people think SUV is much saver that is not true they are only about 20% heavier but they have less street control than sedans... And when everybody would drive heavy cars it would be even more dangerous on streets... Thats the stupity of humanity... Prius is the best car for humanity !
Dagobert Duck not really, trees get the pollution from cars which is good for the trees and then the trees leave clean air, unless you LIVE NEXT TO A FACTORY
I agree with your SUV opinion but everything else in this comment is quite funny to me. Car enthusiasts buy sporty cars because they enjoy cars, performance, the brand of the car, the history, etc…. Now on your EV comment, EVs create a lot of pollution, though less than gasoline cars, it still won’t be significant enough to stop climate change. In fact EVs BARELY, and I mean BARELY, decreases the pollution created by cars. This is because COAL is poured out into the ATMOSPHERE to CREATE EVs. And don’t get me started on the fact that EVs have crappy range 😂😂😂 this is why gasoline cars are still the way to go.
I'm surprised its not rated to go farther on gas. My V6 Accord could go 680 miles before filling it completely up. It ran on 3 cylinders when cruising on the hwy
Toyota is launching one of its largest recalls on one of its most popular models-the Prius hybrid. Covering all Toyota Prius and Prius Plug-in models built between June 2015 and May 2018, the recall involves a wiring harness for the car's hybrid power control unit, which can chafe and start a fire, the company told Reuters. The problem surfaced in Japan, where one Prius began smoking, and led to the recall of more than 1 million cars worldwide, 192,000 of which are in the U.S. Affected models were sold in the U.S. as model years 2016-2018. Owners will begin receiving mailed notices this month.
Could sound a lot more enthused if I was interested and buying a Prius after watching this video I would not. Down playing too many of the features. It almost sounds like you were forced to do the video.
@danger450 I'm willing to bet that it's not what buyers want anymore, at least at the rates Toyota enjoyed in the past. The Prius had high sales rates when there weren't many competitors, but they're doing worse - even with their headstart - now that there is more competition. I submit that this is largely due to styling. If it was necessary to look "like a Prius" to get higher fuel economy, then I get it. But we see now competitors with similar economy but without the Prius look.
OF COURSE, a luxo-barge like a Mercedes S Class had (at one point at least...) the same .26 drag coefficient as a Prius, however, that's they style that people are "familiar" with, even f they don't like it, it is never bought for style, let's face it. You are either a fake tree hugger, who forgets about how batteries are made, or you aren't to cut down your weekly commuting costs. There are many reports, depending on the year that say a 2005 - era gas powered Mercedes S-Class was the exact same cd of a Prius of that year. Here is another one showing Tesla as a winner in 2014, Proving you can LOOK like a normal car, and still have aerodynamics for better fuel economy, etc. www.caranddriver.com/features/drag-queens-aerodynamics-compared-comparison-test-drag-queens-performance-data-and-complete-specs-page-7
it may be cheaper but it has Toyotas reliability and quality checks. something that Tesla is a long way from achieving. And by the way Tesla is all electric and the Prime is not so they aren't even in the same class.
Great review. Just bought mine one week ago and I love it. Still getting aquainted with all the features.
Bob Publicover hello Bob, how is it going with your new Prius Prime?.. I ask because I am interested in one and curious to know a owners perspective

My 25 yr old Honda Civic VX gets the same mileage. Prius in Europe yields 70 mpg's, why does N/A get the outdated version ? !

What trim is this prius prime?

Itwrks wt 120 also has and adaptir forfast charging stations !thats amazing and even with 120 volts the battery gets full in 5hrs thats awesome
ME GUSTA!!

one thing is missing in the equation: British gallon is more than US gallon

So in the prius (5 seconds of silence) you can choose (5 seconds of silence) what drive mode your in

Without gasoline and use only plug in, for fully charge, how far that we can use only electric battery?
25 miles, thank you for the interest
Depends on weather as high as 34 miles and lows 22 . 2018 prime advance
Depending how long of an extension cord you have.
Specking word? Is it?
I don't understand why Toyota doesn't go ahead and release an all electric vehicle.... They're almost there with this car....
Looks Like Subaru Starlink

That's probably because it had a much larger gas tank.
Double the size gas tank
Should I buy it?
Badr Gamer yes
I just want cars to drive by themselves so I could sleep behind the wheel 😅
Jess G. Nyc
Great review man but can you please talk a little slower. I’d appreciate that.
Shaq Attack 😂
Shaq Attack it’s not fast. He’s not enunciating his words enough.
Shaq Attack I don't think he can control that. Some people talk like that and they can't do anything to slow down.

Prius prime is more electric and less gasoline.
Electric range is way to low. If they doubled it I would buy one

Lmfao aggressive and prius in the same sentence
Brian John they have the same suspension that the race versions of other car companies. It handles like a sports car
In Pakistan prius id 45K US Dollars that too used one. Still nation is poor as fuck
I am glad to see that Toyota is committed to employing people with disabilities but they should try to keep the legally blind off the design team.
Adam Bana That's insulting to blind people.
I'm legally blind and I am cracking up... lol I do wish it had a better design...
I think it looks awesome.
