oh my god this game has a physics engine that’s DESIGNED to make jerma laugh
I absolutely loved playing this game when I was younger, but I hated watching Jerma play it.
i remember playing this game, and after ejecting from a bike your character would face plant onto the floor with their legs twist forwards. it happened all the time, atleast for me
I used to play the shit out of Mercenaries 2 when I was younger. All I did was try to grapple onto helicopters.
I loved that the piles of money and bombs got bigger the more you got and the bombs on display correlated to what you actually had available.
I did however hate that the nuke that gets dropped at the end prevented you getting 100% completion if you didn't do everything before it happens.
Back when Mercenaries Two first came out, me and my college roommates, suitemates, were all way too into Halo 3 to really care. I didn't even think Mercenaries 2 was on my radar in 2008. My college suitemates would sneak into my room while I wasn't there and play Halo 3 without my permission, on my Xbox, but more importantly, they would look at my DVD collection. I had like 215 DVDs in alphabetical order and they would play a cruel joke where they would move two random titles in different places and see how long it would take me to notice. Yeah, I know that says a lot more about me then it does about them, but I could tell every time that was the joke. I would just scan briefly over my DVDs everyday and see if they had taken one was usually the issue wasn't-I wasn't checking to see if they put them out of order, I was checking because they would turn up MISSING. And then I would track them down and find someone across the hallway who borrowed one without asking and what do you know! The DVD is missing from inside of its jewel case! Where did it go? No one knows. Oh I found it, it's in two pieces now. No, I'm not still angry about that.

I 100% get Jerma's stress involving the stupid fucking 'monster truck' mission. when I was playing that for the first time as a kid I swear I tried for at least 30 minutes before beating it, it's notoriously unforgiving
It's crazy how I played SO MUCH Mercenaries 2 and don't remember that mission at all.
Huh, I never had an issue with that one but I had SO many issues at the end, game would always freeze up during the boat mission for the Jamaican guy
I have 100 percented the game a few times since I played it as a kid and that canyon jump still gives me anxiety even though I know exactly how to boost it

The shear chaos of this game felt unmatched by anything back in the day. Great memories! It was also one of the first games to really have a different gameplay for ps2 and ps3, (it was a launch title for ps3 i believe)

@PlebNC Have we seriously gotten to the "Back in my day..." stage in video gaming? Yes, some games focus more on graphics but not all, there are still plenty of fun and unique games especially in the indie scene

@@grumpysphinx4911 It's more that I've gotten old enough to have perspective of the past. Also I was talking more about mainstream game development where they have considerable budgets and therefore be able to choose between graphical fidelity and gameplay. Indie game devs have small budgets so they have to have good gameplay as otherwise they have nothing.
Compare marketing of AAA games from a decade or 2 ago vs now.
Previously it was all about innovative gameplay technology, destruction/physic engines and what they did better than before.
Now, it's an endless slew of doing the same as before but in 4K with ray tracing at 60 FPS. Games sold on ambition that rarely meet that promise. Pretty games intended to be patched into acceptability later.
Cyberpunk 2077? Battlefield 2042? Fallout 76?
Pandemic Studios may have struggled to make their games pretty or polished, but being able to literally flattened cities made up for it.

Ohh i love this game! It was my favorite game in childhood. Had a fucked up version where enemies were screaming "THE ENEMY IS HERE" during every single fight without any other voice line, but i still loved Mercenaries 2 with all of my heart

the first game was one of my favorites as a kid, loved the faction system and using cheats to blow up said faction system with moabs and nukes

You can also pick between 3 characters. Sadly the one Jerma picked is probably the worst voice acted.
@@k3salieri Which is weird that it's the worst voice acting, given that it's Jennifer Hale and she's one of the most prolific and well regarded voice actors. I think it was forcing her to do an English accent that made it worse.
Actually the reason for revenge was the betrayal and not paying them for their services.
Getting shot in the ass was just the cherry on the cake.

And in the course of your revenge, you not only bring Venezuela to a state of civil war, you escalate the situation so bad that the superpowers get involved, climaxing with you firing the shot that starts the First Sino-American War. (And I say "first" because you don't think they're just gonna have the one, do you?)

I swear. The intro/title video for this game, has some of the hardest political tones I've ever seen in a game. And that's absent for like 95% of the game.

Mercenaries 1 was all I played back in the day. Never got the chance to play the second one. One of the most terrifying things experiencing was going out of bounds and have the jet come after you to fuck your day up
