This is a deep one. Ren's Lyme Disease that went undiagnosed for all those years and the unrelenting physical pain that came from it is what caused his mental health issues. This is Ren's story about how by never gave up hope and fought for answers when the medical industry failed him. This is for the people who still struggle from these illnesses that debilitate people and ruin lives.

His problems were not caused by addiction to drugs but because of undiagnosed lyme disease and wrongly prescribed medication.

It's kinda hard to not get insulted for our boi, knowing how much he suffered, how hard he's fought to claw his way back to some semblance of a life, all as a result of something completely out of his control... No matter how hard he tried. Ngl, it frustrates the ELS out of me when people so quickly project their own stories onto his.. not that they have to have had a similar experience, nor that they should experience shame or guilt because perhaps their choices _were_ their own to make, but that in the self-aggrandizing need to find a frame of reference to their own pain, they rarely take the time to really listen and appreciate Ren's story first before mentally molding it into some mashup of self-help vernacular and soy-faced empathy, thus completely MISSING what needed first to be found... the story Ren was so brave to tell. But lordy knows, the mere notion of RENegades gatekeeping is completely antithetical to Ren's message and all he represents. He just truly is a gem, a wonderful joy in so many lives, and at times it's difficult to refrain from embodying the phrase-turned-meme, "protect him at all costs", LoL
