- Arrowtown in autumn is a stunning sight to behold. This picturesque town, located in the Otago region of New Zealand's South Island, is surrounded by hills and trees that turn golden, orange, and red during autumn. During this season, Arrowtown is known for its vibrant autumn festival, which celebrates the changing of the seasons. The Arrow River, which flows through the town, is also a sight to behold in autumn. The crystal-clear water contrasts beautifully with the surrounding foliage, creating a truly breathtaking scene.
Date visited: end of April 2022

The information given by the narrator in this video is not entirely accurate. I suggest reading the articles shared fully, as well (except for the Stuff one, that's just sensationalism). They're removing the INVASIVE WILDING CONIFERS, note just the conifers, and different kinds of conifers are issues in different places, because they spread rapidly down here due to a mutation, and are an ongoing issue. They are replanting anything they remove with non invasive exotics and natives, both with natural colouring to enhance the hill, as natives take 30+ years to mature- but note, not JUST natives, it's a combination. They are NOT removing the Sycamores and the Rowans that make up the primary colouration of the hill. They are currently in their trial planting stage after having already removed most of if not all of what they were planning to, and monitoring the rest.

So beautiful! Every shot is picturesque. I really enjoyed the video. Thank you.
Thank you for watching! 🙏❤️
We are planning on returning to Japan in 2024 and cannot wait. We're hoping to come for the cherry blossom season 🌸
@@ChrisandDanya Great! I hope you have a good time in Japan 2024. 😊
Amazing! New Zealand has been on my radar for some time now for many reasons, you’ve just added another to the list of spectacular adventures offered.
NZ is stunning. No matter what you end up doing, you won't be disappointed!
So great with many colors !
The video doesn't do the colours justice to be honest!
Lovely stuff - we are doing the A2O, CORT and these trails in Feb '24 - Can't wait!
Sounds like an awesome trip!!
Nice place❤
One of our favourites in NZ 🙏😊
Fab video as always! You missed a delish culinary opportunity with the quince though.if you ever get the chance to get quince again & have a nearby kitchen (🤔), peel, core, slice.roast in oven with orange juice, water, sugar to taste, vanilla pod or paste, until quince softens.Tastes divine & the colour of the liquid is unbelievable!
Thank you for the recipe, we'll make sure we give this a go! 😊❤️🙏
Thanks for sharing yet another wholesome vlog, absolutely love your uploads! You've got a new sub :)
Thank you for the kind words 🙏❤️
Tolles Video like54👍
i want to stay in new zealand just for the autumn season
Arrowtown is one of the best towns to see Autumn colours in New Zealand 😊
Yeah hope to see you around this season@@ChrisandDanya
Another wonderful video, you're really nailing these films. We've just binged a few hours worth over the last few days and recently booked the Milford Track. My partner would love to know what hip pack Danya wears in the hiking films :)
I'd also love to know what camera's use and how you learnt to take such great footage?
Thank you so much for the continued support Paul, it really means a lot 🙏❤️
Also congrats on booking a spot on the Milford Track! That is quite the accomplishment these days 😅
The hip belt we use is from a USA cottage company called Waymark Gear Co and the bag is called Zipp Hip Pack. They are quite expensive for what they are. You can get something a lot cheaper and just as functional from MacPac or maybe even KMart
We use the Panasonic GH6 as our main camera and a GoPro Hero 10 Black for the talking to the camera and all of the follow shots
The camera shoots in pretty high resolution so that does a lot of the work. Using ND filters to keep the shutter speed at 180 degrees is crucial for realistic motion blur. I just learned through CZcams and practice to be honest! The quality of our earlier videos are suspect and that was with similar gear, so practice is definitely a key factor! 😅. The right music choice also plays a big factor. I've ruined earlier videos with poor music choice. But again, that all comes with practice and learning
@@ChrisandDanya Thanks for replying and sharing your experience. Your films are incredibly inspiring. We can't wait to see more. Ngā mihi
We've got plenty more in the backlog! 😅
But if you remove much of the non native flora, you can forget about the abundant and varied beautiful Autumn foliage.
Yep, it's a choice they'll have to make at some point. They have presented a plan to replace a large section with native coloring trees, but it would be years before they are mature.
We don't envy the decision makers!

@@whitefireunderblackrain Thank you for the insight!
If you post this in a separate comment (not a reply to someone), I can pin it at the top of the comment section so it's easier for everyone to see.
If you have any other articles you recommend we put in the video description, I'd be happy to share
@@ChrisandDanya Will do! Can't think of any articles rn, but will let you know if I do.
Nice! You should hire some dual suspension mountain bikes at Coronet Peak and ride Rude Rock trail
We were trying to get bikes to do the Coronet Loop while we were in town, but timing just didn't line up. Unfortunately not in the Queenstown area anymore. Will just have to return someday!
@@ChrisandDanya Sounds good! Would also highly recommend riding mtbs at Nelson (Coppermine trail + more) and Rotorua (redwoods forest + more)
We're in Nelson now so we'll check out Coppermine!
@@ChrisandDanya Nice! My wife and I visited Nelson last week (from Sydney) and rented full suspension e-mtbs from Gravity Nelson for the Coppermine trail. The uphill would be a bit tedious without e-bikes but the downhill is fast, loose, rocky and great fun on full squish bikes
Is it a loop or one way track? We'll look into doing that! We are very casual bikers 😅
Nice bike trail. Poor little quince didn't fulfil its purpose in lfe.
Poor little quince never stood a chance. I begged her not to take it! 😭
