    I feel the comfort level in the ankle area goes to the 2020 pair as well as accurate stitching . The OG overall fits to perfection and superb quality. As for the 2000 I felt it was a good retro but does not alternate as the OG or 2020. Thankful to had been able to rock all three of them during their prime.

    Give us the same quality in the retros and we got with the OGs. We deserve better. I got my first pair of Jordans in 1985 or 86. Red, white, and black 1's. I bought new ones every time they dropped. I'm still giving money for the Jordans all these years later yet I am getting a far less superior shoe. Nike and Jordan are dealers and they got us hooked on the good shit and now they are selling us stuff that has been cut.

    I was just debating with a “OG” who didn’t believe me when I told him that OG Air Jordan IV’s were made out of durabuck. He claimed they were leather like there was no tomorrow. I think it’s crazy that most people think durabuck was only used for the black “suede” pairs; when in actuality, the white “leather” was also durabuck. Any way, when it comes to The OG Air Jordan V, I believe the new bubbled tongue is used because the original AJ5 tongues typically would wear down and fade. I’ve never seen the newer tongue’s material wear away like they did on the OG. The Netting on the 1990 pairs hold up better than most retros and typically don’t get piss yellow; they need to bring that netting back if they bring the tongue back.

    • @mjo23dan
      @mjo23dan  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah. Redesign here is give and take. They probably haven’t found a good solution to the reflective tongue and they may have very well used the 3M company to produce the older fabric style tongues. Maybe they don’t want to pay licensing fees this time in order to use it since 3M has its own patent for the material? Who knows but it’s definitely cheap looking.

    • @mjo23dan

    As an owner of the 90, 00 and 20 pairs as well, and have had all on my feet: The one thing that annoys me the MOST about the 2020 pair is how packed the ankle / sockliner is with padding. No AJ5 years ago ever had a heavily padded ankle, and these 2020 pair feel like a damn stuffed teddy bear. So when wearing the 2000 or even 2006-2007 pairs, they all were light feeling in the ankle padding. This made the shoe lighter as well. I almost want to rip my 2020 pair open and pull the padding out. Hate it.

    The OG were so much more comfortable, I wish this new generation could have felt them compared to the retro's. The way they made the soles back then, while it made them crack and crumble later in life, made them so much softer and comfortable. The air units had a different gas in them back then too, and were inflated at a higher pressure compared to the retro's which also felt better. I do love the improvements in the jumpman on the 2020, and the improved icy sole that wont yellow so quickly. I dont like the yellowing like some guys, I love the new ice look. I really like the retro's though dont get me wrong, but the OG's felt the best to me.

      @@BigSparky1316 The OG's were just a better shoe. The quality was superb. I particularly liked the OG 3s and 4s. I was 13 and 14 years old when they released. The midsoles were nice. They didn't crack like the retros do. I'm no expert, but the retros midsoles are white underneath the paint. I am talking about the 3s and 4s. The paint on the retros will crack the first time you wear them while shooting hoops. Terrible quality. I'm not sure why but the OGs never did that with me, although the midsole itself would eventually crack and even crumble if you kept them for many years. If I remember correctly the mids were the same color underneath as the paint on top. My memory could be wrong though. Back then when the new Jordans would drop, all I had to do was to go to the mall and buy them. None of this worrying about them selling out and not being able to get them. If they were sold out when I got there, they would get another shipment in after a couple of days. Peace everybody.

      @@eddieharman3650 The OG 3, 4 and 6 are my absolute favorites too. I am 28 so I never was able to experience the OGs brand new only restored a couple and the old midsoles were open cell polyurethane and the foam carrier they would dye the colors in to the foam instead of painting on top of the foam. I really wish more than anything I could have experienced those greats with the Original tech and comfort. Everyone I seem to ask either doesn't remember or they say that it was about the same as today but they were just a better fit on your foot.

      @eddieharman3650 Před 3 lety +1

      @@BigSparky1316 Yeah the main issue I have with the retros, even though I still get them when they drop one of my favorites, is the overall quality isn't the same. The shape on ALOT of the retros just isn't there either, especially on the 3s, 4s, and 5s. The originals were very sleek and looked very aerodynamic. The retros are not that. The toe is boxy kind of like a steel toed boot. Very rounded. The cut and height around the ankle is different. Not as high on the retros which kind of changes the sleekness. It CAN'T be that difficult to make and match the shoe the same way as the original. That's what we want. We more or less want the retros to be the same as the OG.

    The 2020 are solid retros but that tongue, toe and blue soles are just not OG

    I’m gonna say it. I don’t like yellowing on clear bottoms. I think it’s ugly, I don’t like the vintage or yellowing look on any shoe either.

    it's not an extra $40, they'd be charging an extra $100 for the "premium, built to og specs" version. they could easily replicate og shape with computer 3d models. the tongue on the 2020 version is disgusting!

      Obviously I threw a number out there but it’s all subjective. Whether they do it or not you heard it here.

      @@mjo23dan I’m saying they pick in choose what they want to be exact (I mean look at the new beginning pack )they could have gave us that cut along time ago) another one was the 2015 Bordeaux 7 that cut and Toe box is the closet we WILL EVER GET TO THE OG..... and to top it off why didn’t they give us that exact same cut that release that same year for the HARE 7 ??????? They pick and choose ....

      @@mjo23dan and no they didn’t do good on the fire red 5 2020 the shoe is too dull no pop like the og and 2000 they basically just slapped Nike air on the 2013 release 😂

      @mjo23dan  Před 3 lety +3

      Stop. The 2015 Bordeaux 7 was one of the worse retros if you’re comparing that to the actual OG. The fact that that shoe had a bubble toe, a hump at the vamp just below the first set of lace holes, a flip of the colors...it screams a hard no. I invite you to check my comparisons checklist. There’s only a select few retros I will endorse that are close. The 2015 Bordeaux 7 isn’t one of them and I own the OG.

      @@mjo23dan your true about the hump but that slim toe box was wayyyy better than the bulky toe box we been getting these past years retro 7 haven’t been the same since 2006 my opinion!!
      And going back to what I said Jordan brand pick and choose what they want to tweak...
