- The Old Trails Museum presents "A Brief History of Winslow, Arizona," a short film that illustrates the city’s major historical themes through historic and contemporary images along with filmed segments. Developed by OTM Director Ann-Mary Lutzick and Winslow Historical Society Board Member Lori Bentley Law, the film provides a basic overview of Winslow's history and gives viewers a framework to absorb even more information whenever they visit one of Winslow's many historic sites and buildings. I love these type of videos especially the ones involving Rt 66, as I've done so much traveling across this beautiful country in my 71 yrs. I just want to see what's over the next mountain, around the next bend or maybe I haven't taken that road before. I always forget that my grandfather died in the late 50s and we hopped in the car and headed from Ohio to somewhere in the Los Angeles area for the funeral. I was abuout 5 or 6 so I definitely don't remember much but I'm sure we got on Rt 66 several miles sourh of Chicago so I have traveled most of the original 66. One thing I do remember is one of my sisters looking out the window and hitting the floor because of the sheer drop when we were in the mountains, probably in Arizona. Maybe that's how I got my traveling bone🤷♂️

This video was nicely done. It was good enough and interesting enough that we will spend time in Winslow that next time we are using Hwy 40.

what a fantastic documentary. I learned more than I thought possible in the presentation. I knew about the corner park in Winslow as I drove by on I-40 today so I looked it up like millions of others have. I will be back to visit and I'll know what to look for.

knew a lot of people from Winslow as they were a rival high school of ours with my living in Snowflake. In 1967 myself, Jack Porter, Lyman Duncan and Harold Maxwell set the A North 880 Relay record at the Winslow High School field - - last I heard that record still stands because no one had broken it until they started running metric distances. I had a lot of friends from Winslow even though we were rivals and I moved there for a few months before Uncle Sam invited me to join his "Boy Scouts" via the draft in 1970. So many towns were changed by having I-40 by-pass them I'm not sure I'd recognize most of them now - - even the Paper Mill outside of Snowflake that we moved to Arizona to open in 1961 is now a ghost
I live right by that airport, and love to watch the planes take off.

I just learned that there’s underground tunnels in Winslow. That’s what I would like to know about. I’m from Leupp, so I’ve never heard of the underground tunnels. That’s interesting.
Used to go in some of them as a kid. My mom had a craft store on the corner by the movie theater
Being from northern Arizona I just knew it was an active old western town then once the interstate came things got worse and people left like to California.
