How to Remove Security Ink Retail Clothing Tags-DIY Tutorial [Ink Tag Removal]

  • How retail clothing store security ink tags work and is by (as an anti-theft measure) clothing stores tag various clothing items with security tags so that if you walk out the door with them you'll set off an alarm when you leave with the tag still on the garment or ruin it by spilling ink from the tag if you try to remove it yourself. There are some ways to prevent the ink from spilling all over the garment if the retail cashier fails to remove the tag (as they often do). The short answer to the question "Do Security Ink Tags go off?" is no. It triggers the alarm through the use of a sensor at the entrance or exit.
To answer the simple question, "What do security ink tags do?". When the security ink tags are forcibly removed from the clothing item, two glass vials containing permanent ink will break, causing it to spill over the clothing, which in theory will completely deface the clothing item with a large ink permanent ink stain.

First you hold and shake your camera over the clothing for at least 30 seconds. Then you take your dremel and wave it around for at least ten more seconds. Then start dremeling while you listen to some melancholy chord progressions. LOL

How to remove a security tag from my $14 pair of clearance shorts: Drive 10 miles to my local Home Depot. Stand in line for an hour before they let you in due to the virus. Go inside and purchase a drill, the proper bit and wire cutters for $125. Drive home. Unpackage everything and take an hour to figure out how the drill works. Get cracking on getting that tag off. Sounds about right.

Wife brought home a shirt bought 5 hours away. I'll tell her to do that. Or I can grab my Dremel. I think that is better option for my marriage.

Ok, so like I did this method on a tag that was kinda similar to this one. Only difference was the top wasn’t clear. This method really works for taking it off, BUT it will not guarantee that the ink won’t explode. The only reason why I will say this works really well is, because the plastic bag worked as like a cover to my piece of clothing. That meaning only 1 to 2 drops of ink actually got on my clothing. (P.S that ink comes off with dawn dish soap and a green dish scrubby)

All you actually gotta do is burn the bottom (underneath the white cap) . Itll open a hole and the spring and mechanism just falls apart and it comes right off.

@@DIYTechnician I tried a magnet used to move pacemakers under the skin. It was not enough to get the 3 ball bearings separated from the pin at the same time, so I used the Dremel. It worked.
