Is there a God, or is it all just made up? Throughout history, various cultures have believed in different gods, influenced by their time, place, and societal norms. For many, belief in God provides comfort, purpose, and a sense of community.
Thinking of God as an idea challenges traditional views of a deity existing outside ourselves. Instead, it suggests that God might be an ideal or a symbol of what people aspire to become. This perspective doesn't diminish the value of faith, which can offer stability and reassurance in a chaotic world, regardless of one's stance on the existence of God.
Ultimately, whether you see God as a real entity, a myth, or an idea, being respectful toward one another is the better way.
When it comes to religion, most people - even the most devout - harbour doubts. Conventional religious faith demands unquestioning loyalty to a set of unchallengeable ideas. Roger James offers an alternative approach, inviting you to let your spirit soar!

Fiction. Deep fiction. Sick fiction. From all the religious trauma books I've read, I feel that it is a sick bunch of fiction harming and scaring kids and adults. Nice video!!!

Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I understand your perspective and agree in principle. Religion can have deeply negative impacts on people. Much of what is imparted to children needs to be unlearned as part of the maturing process. However, religion can be a source of comfort and community. Glad you enjoyed the video!
      Best,

@@religionrethink I have experienced it as a child and forgot that 360 degree understanding of all, then a year ago I read the Quran and saw the definition of Allah, it blow my materialistic mind to realise it was true experience not a dream. But i became sad how this beautiful Truth has been fixed to use as control & slavery of man. God answers me with actual life happenings and has cleared my mind (still in process) it all makes sense now.

Some believe in Father Christmas and the tooth fairy too. It's the same thing.

Yes, some do believe in those things, but is it the same? One distinction to consider is that while some people base their lives on religious belief, I am not aware of any giving that kind of prominance to the tooth fairy or father christmas. What do you think?

How do you define the word belief?

    • @religionrethink

Belief is what you think might be true. A useful question in response is, why do you think particular thing might be true? One of my preferred questions is, tell me what you think and why?

@religionrethink Ok, then I have a follow up question... If you truly believed, there was a God... And that was the truth... Why then wouldn't you live as if there is a God? Knowing u are eternally accountable for every single choice you make on this earth? Why wouldn't you be living an absolutely perfect life if that's what you truly, in your heart, believed? Why would you dare do anything outside of what you believe god would be pleased with. Surely, If we knew... with absolute certainty that a heaven awaited us with glorious rewards for all of eternity... all based on our actions on this earth, If we knew that as we know the sun will rise in the morning....We would all be living our lives very differently.
People may say they believe in god, But not living as if they do. So which do we go by? What people say? Or what people do? I've found that the latter is more reflective of the truth about a person's true beliefs.
If I believe touching, a fire will burn me, Then, as beautiful as that fire may look, i'm not going to touch it.

That's thought-provoking. While it seems logical that certainty of belief about God and an afterlife would lead to perfect behaviour, human nature and inherent human imperfection suggests otherwise. It is possible to believe with great confidence, and many do, but it is not possible to know the idea of God is true. That is always a matter of belief and/or faith. Honestly, I do not adhere to either belief or faith in the idea of God. Even so I believe that my conduct is mostly ethical and honourable. Equally, I don't accept that belief in a god would make me a better person. I truly appreciate your line of thought and questioning.
