For the confused rest of the world: Dario Fo is portraying a starving farmer of the middle ages. He's so hungry that first fantasies about eating himself and the people around him. After that he dreams of cooking and eating a giant meal straight out of the pot. In the end he realizes that he's hallucinating, there is no pot and no food. At this point he catches a fly. He slowly eats it and goes away happily like he had a satisfying meal. The language spoken is a mix of ancient Italian dialects and other words he probably invented himself, known as "Grammelot". È è il padre delle maschere più importanti tipo per esempio Arlecchino Brighella etc etc. ma non è un personaggio inventato è un personaggio reale lo Zanni come personaggio è addirittura legato a una categoria di persone intendo dire una classe sociale: i contadini delle valli di tutto il Po delle montagne che si riversano sulla piana del Po. Erano i lombardi i veneti anche i piemontesi i quali ad un certo punto della loro vita esattamente nel 1500 dovettero abbandonare le proprie terre perché le proprie terre non gli davano più la possibilità di campare, non riuscivano più a vendere quello che producevano andavano sui mercati e trovavano di colpo della merce che veniva dall'oriente e che costava 1/3 o la metà di quello che avevano bisogno loro, di incassare lavorare ebbene i contadini devono lasciare le loro terre, scendere a valle e impiegarsi in tutti i mestieri che trovano qualsiasi soprattutto i facchini e lavori anche più bassi più violenti più duri per sopravvivere per non crepare di fame, le loro donne accettano di fare mestieri umili e arrivano anche a fare le prostitute, ma si moriva di fame, oggi si dice Zanni affamato Zanni vuol dire qualcuno che ha fame, da sempre nella carestia che vive nella carestia e vive nell'idigenza, infatti, ogni giorno c'è una squadra speciale che pescava i cadaveri di questi poveacci che morivano di fame e cadevano poi dentro la laguna, ogni giorno donne bambini e Ora questa è la storia di uno Zanni che racconta la propria fame. La fame dello Zanni disperata spaventosa che oramai diventa cogenita la forma stessa del personaggio questo Zanni si immagina per fame di mangiare se stesso ad un certo punto e poi di mangiare la gente che è gli intorno che l'ascolta e poi di mangiare le montagne di mangiare anche Dio poi disperato arriva a sognare, sognare di fabbricarsi meglio di cucinarsi un pranzo luculliano, pantagruelico, polenta, tordi, galline, tutto si cucina, si mangia tutto con una voracità incredibile e alla fine al risveglio che capirete benissimo cominciamo senz'altro è Grammlot la forma è il dialetto di Brescia, Bergamo e via dicendo, però pochissimi sono i termini chiari gli altri sono tutti inventati, il Grammelot dello Zanni

There is a comment that explains everything. You are not loosing a lot of the experience because he mostly talking in gramelot (ro gibberish if you are less poetic), a language made of real words mixed with senseless words.

@@compagniaelvira Ma per carità, vai a spiegare agli "attori, registi e drammaturghi da tutto il mondo" che abbiamo vissuto in un paese dove per decenni l'arte è stata inquinata dalla politica di sinistra. Se non eri "compagno" non facevi carriera se ti andava bene o venivi ignorato o boicottato se ti andava male, praticamente fu replicata l'epoca fascista in "chiave democratica" cioè o sei dei nostri o sparisci.
