  • This Week was a busy one. we did lots of work in Utah and Colorado. We doctored some bulls and branded some slick calves that were still hanging around. We also had our annual San Juan ranch horse sale. we sold crow and it was a sad day to see him go. we bought another horse there so stay tuned to see what he is!

Shawn and Crew great video as always. Hate to see Crow go down the road. But looks as if you got a good replacement and sounds like it was the one you wanted.

Hello fellas! Your cows sure look in nice shape. Good looking cattle for sure.
Good to hear that Crow went to a good home. That 2 year old you bought is quite a horse. Wish you folks all the best with him.
Thx for the great show and best wishes to you folks.

Hey Ronald, great to hear from you. Yes, we agree. I did really like Crows brain. He was a really smart horse that seemed to get better every time we rode him. We are hoping this new horse has it all brains and looks!!! Thanks have a great week

Hi Shawn and cowboys, another terrific Sunday video. Sad to see crow go, but I’m sure he’ll make terrific ranch horse for some outfit, also 24 is a really good looking big horse. Seems to have a good way about him. Good luck! Really appreciate you sharing! Thanks😊

I really like the black baldy and her calf in the running/hiding group chuckle. She threw a really nice calf and has a nice bag for raising the baby. Thought she redeemed herself for having a nice calf. With ranching you have to have many skills to I've found..So, new horses name?

Let me tell you, the only thing keeping that cow on the ranch is that she produces nice calves. She might go down the road anyway!!!!

Ha! you bought one to replace Crow. I liked that sorrel yearling the same guy had. Crow went over my absolute top budget by 500. I kinda wanted to bid on old Carlos. 😆What I really need is a big old kid horse like that one you have. Absolutely agree, nothing better than an old ranch horse that has a lot of miles. hard to find anymore.

Hi, that sale was all over the place. I can never predict how things are going to go. I wish you would have been able to get Crow, we sure liked him. We felt really good about representing him in the sale. Honestly, there were some really great horses that sold very cheap and some not so great horses that sold pretty high. Thanks for watching and thanks for bidding on Crow.

Put a cable to support the weight on the opening and closing end also that'll keep that side from sagging.

1880 Drifters it is very cool to see wild life on your videos. The wood corrals holding pens look very cool. Do you guys ever butcher one of your own cows to eat? How do cattle get Hoof Rot? The Bull with the hoof rot was very defiant not wanting to go. Do you guys pregnancy test your cattle?

Oh no that bull! 😮 I cannot figure out how you know where all of the different cows all go. I’m very impressed. Now, all these cows are yours personally, right? So if it’s a public road why is it up to you, to fix it? Don’t you have a drone? Would that help you find the bulls? I love seeing the young cowboys and cowgirls. So sweet glad ya got the horse you wanted it looks good. Thank you for the video.

Hi Cindi, thanks for watching and thanks for the questions. Over the years we learn where the cows like to go and we are constantly checking on them. Also our neighbors and people we know are constantly helping us by telling us where they see the cows. We also spend lots of time just looing around, so all of this helps us keep track of them. I will also try to answer your other questions in the next video. Thank you and have a great week

With all of the hands you use in moving cattle your labor bill must be significant or do you trade labor with other outfits?

Great video. Love seeing the wildlife. Sorry to see Crow go.
New horse is pretty enough, he looks like he swings his left front in when he walks (maybe just me) otherwise, good selection. Love watching the dogs work, so invaluable for what you do. I'm like other who ride along in spirit. The thought of getting on a horse at 72 y.o.a . terrifies me! When you went to the lower pasture, it looked like lightning off to your left. Did you get rain?

    • @shawnjack8092
      @shawnjack8092 Před měsícem +1

Hi Pam, thanks for watching. Yes, we have been have some afternoon rain showers around lately. It sure makes it easy to see fresh tracks. I did not even notice the left front foot. Now I am really curious and need to go out and look at him. Thanks and have a great week.

Please, give your new horse a bit time- for he is only two years old! He will be full grown with 6 years, so his bones are not yet ready being forced to work. Here in Germany we start horses not before they are 3 years old , please respect the horse's age.
    Greetings from Germany
