  • This video is from a mission I created using the FMB tool in VPModpack. The mission is available to download and play from the "Mission4Today" website.
The mission is to intercept incoming German bombers and fighters over the English Channel, with the player flying a P-38J.
I claimed 8 air to air victories in this mission. 4 JU-88s, 2 HE-111s, 1 BF109G-6, and 1 FW190A-6. 4 of the kills are seen from the gun camera at the end of the video.

Gun cam! Excellent views well done. They are always well received. Thumbs up video 👍

What mod are you on? I use the stock game and it seems your P-38 guns do alot more damage than the stock lightning model.

How do I go about getting the gun cam on my flights? I can't seem to figure it out

The standard button combination for cycling through the different cockpit views is "Ctrl+F1". Should work when flying a mission, or watching an ntrk. file.
If you want to eliminate all the HUD info, then you'll have to change some settings in "setup" "general", and go into "controls" and map the "Toggle Speed Bar" function to a button on your keyboard or flight controls.

Is it my feeling alone that in IL2 1946, planes blow up quite easily. Seems to be much sturdier in the later IL2 and in DCS.

No, I'm pretty sure there are others out there who share your sentiment. Thanks for watching. :^)
