One factor that's often overlooked is the ballast temperature at loadport. The tank tops will be at this temperature at the start of loading (vessel in ballast condition) and so a layer of paraffin will freeze against this cold surface once the crude enters the cargo tank. The remaining cargo then takes the path of least resistance, flowing up and over this boundary layer. Any subsequent cargo heating will only effect cargo immediately around and above the coils, not reaching down to melt the boundary layer. Only hot ballast could do that, or COW with a heated medium of course. I'm "Mr Steve" - I've been an EU based specialist COW superintendent for nearly 15 years as a Charterer's Rep, overseeing the discharge and COW of problematic crude cargos. If you've any questions regarding washing of paraffinic cargo feel free to ask, I'm always happy to help out....

First tank cleaning calculate may be wrong, it supposed to be (2 x 1.5 x 40)/ 2 x 3 = 20 minutes instead of 40 minutes. Pls confirm. The.
