A few weeks ago, the family and I had dinner with a couple of families from the dojo, as we do every Thursday night.
We live ~30 miles from the city and on the way home a storm with 40+ mph winds rolled in.
There were large tree limbs all over the single lane highway we live on, most of which I was able to drive over or around with my SUV.
However, there was one ~10 inches in diameter laying across the entire width of the road with large branches all along its length.
I put on my hazards and got out to drag it into the ditch, for me and the next passerby.
It was a pine, covered in sap from one end to the other and slicker than deer guts on a doorknob.
I got it out of the road but was covered in sap after the fact. At that point, I decided I needed a full tang tomahawk in my SUV.
I just pulled the trigger on the A1 Otacle with orange scales because the price is right and it looks to be built for hard use, like dragging sap covered trees out of a roadway in full darknes, among other things.
Your review reinforces my thinking I made the right decision. It arrives Friday.
Safety is an illusion, so be careful ;)
Definitely a looks like a work horse of a multi purpose hatchet. Not a bad price either for it being full tang.. 👍🏻
Its a fancy roofers hatchet, for when your working with wood shingles. I'd take the edge back to about 22 degree's, so it would hold up better to chopping.
Absolutely war and work horse❤
That’s awesome Brother. The crow bar and hammer is a brilliant touch. Much more versitile than a machete. In a survival situation that would come in real handy. Be great in a coastal setting too as could use it to pry off shellfish off the rocks. Looks sharp as! Thanks man 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
Right on!🙂👍
I can imagine that this will be very suitable for a futuristic adventure type context due to its functions and overall industrial style
That looks sweet and the Tek-Lok is a huge plus.
Great little review brother. Thank you for takikg the time to show us around this tool.
I like your channel a lot because you are clearly passionate and having fun with it. Its so nice to see your excitement about the outdoors/skills and tools. Because a lot of us can relate.
I appreciate that!
You did it again brother-another great review that makes me want this hatchet- you’ve given leads on other items I’ve bought!
Glad to help!🙂
Definitely has its purpose ! But I got different axes for different jobs , like splitting , and a broadhead axe for getting flat surfaces. Definitely got this axe in my cart , nice chopper !
Bug out kit!!!Thank you for the video!
Any time!
That looks saweet my man. Another great product review.
Much appreciated!
Looks good. And also has strong sheath which is very important for axe 👍👍👍
Yes it does!🙂👍
This this is like a Swiss army wrecking machine! Lol! Great review as always! Take good care, my man!
Thanks so much!🙂👊
That is really cool buddy
When I saw that edge I was like 😳
That's a necessity tool right there
It makes chopping like butter haha
the HX Outdoors Mercenaries Axe is made of 440C. good deal. looks the same.
These are sold under various names online I would be curious how the steel handles dry wood. Might be a chip-o-matic.
So many things I don’t like about that hatchet. But I always enjoy your show.👊
Thanks my friend!🙂
2 things I'm not sure about, the sharp pointy pry bar at the end by the hand grip & the grip itself looks too thin to be comfortable.
Make the pry bar part removable like the hammer is and have an assortment of grips(small, medium and large) 😅for bigger handed users.
Cold Steels Hawks has no way to carry the Hawk. And can't be used to split wood. Why would you want an axe that can't split wood?
Wicked!
👊👊
Hey....i wait it in France..... always not in my country !😢
Good job ....bye guy❤
Maintenant, c'est bon !
Be nice if they had a hex that fit a fire hydrated instead of just a round hole, for a bug out tool
They actually designed a hole that looks like an arrowhead, and it can be used for gas shutoffs , fire hydrants and other things
Lol i have the real version of this.. the outland equipment mma 1901. Sure its way more expensive but its also way better quality. Mines actually the larger version. The 1501 is the small one like this.
This one is a tank. I’m sure yours is all the more if you have the original version. Probably higher grade of steel if I had to guess
Any UK folk know if this hatchet is available anywhere in Grand Britannia?
us.obuy.com/oknife-otacle-a1-multifunctional-hatchet try this link and see if c they will send there
The HX Mercenaries version is. Looks like the same hatchet and is probably made in the same factory
@@GrizzlyGaz Nice one thanks, I'll have a look around.
@@waymarkerbushcraft it's on Ali Express. I've ordered one but it's saying august for delivery so we'll see if and when it turns up 👍
@@GrizzlyGaz Thanks, I did see it on there but not sure if I trust that site. Please let me know how it looks when you (eventually) get it.
Who wouldn’t want something like that? Can the handle be removed with screws to replace? Now I have to be careful I don’t talk in my sleep she’ll think I’m flirting 😂
😂😂 I do believe they can
Bugout bag breaching tool...
Do you regularly Bushcraft? I. A city boy and your technique angered me
I’m more on the tactical end
@@411Outdoors I don't disagree, but your technique could be out to shame by boy scouts...the angle of attack wasn't there and it's a shame that it influrnces people.
Looks thin
It’s really heavy duty. Thinner than a hatchet but chops much better
